I said from the first report when this broke...that Paterno and the School Admin knew for years what Sandusky was and what he was doing. There was no way that the most Loved, Revered and Respected guy on that campus, Joe Paterno wasnt told and knew what was going on. I think that truth may be brought out eventually.

Emails from 2001 between Penn State University's former president, vice president and athletic director discussing what to do about Jerry Sandusky's alleged encounter with a boy in the shower are raising new questions, CNN reports.
The messages from February 26-28, 2001 may illustrate a cover-up by former Penn State president Graham Spanier, then vice president Gary Schultz and former athletic director Tim Curley.

University officials "knew they had a problem with Sandusky after a 2001 shower incident, but apparently first decided to handle it using a 'humane' approach before contacting outside authorities whose job it is to investigate suspected abuse," CNN reports.
On June 22, Sandusky was convicted of abusing 10 boys over 15 years.
CNN said it does not have the emails but that the alleged contents were made available to them

Maybe they don't think its a big deal.

Penn State is going to get its proverbial ass sued off if this is true.

Everyone on knows molesting young boys and abusing them is a big deal

Sadly, protecting football seemed like a much more important priority to some.

Sports have been a scourge on schools HS and College...too much damn emphasis on being a jock and having a great team than they academics....need to stop that garbage and start strictly athletic leagues separate from schools

You're coming from the wrong angle mate.

Most Universities have an academic standard for their players. My brother plays for a University and his does.

It's not about Sports over Academics, it's about image, enrollments and talent.

If the story had broke it would have tarnished the University, lost them enrollments, which would lose them money and would have lost them players who would have decided to go play elsewhere.

Unfortunately jet I believe that university is a minority....Coachs carry alot of weight in some universities and top players glide on academics and many get slid right on through...the level "APPEARS" to be maintained because its GIVEN to them just like HSs that give out free unearned diplomas to keep their stats up for budget increases.

I believe that Athletics have nothing to do with Academics and should not be a part of any school curriculum it sucks resourses and time and costs a fortune and has no academic benefit...Physical Education YES...athletics no...athletics should be a separate entity

I'm willing to admit that does probably happen, but even if that's the case 100% of the time (which it isn't) it's irrelevant as to why they knew about Sandusky and didn't say anything, my point is still why they did it though I completely understand where you're coming from there, it's just an entirely separate issue to the article.

Wait I wasnt insinuating at all that it had anything to do with sandusky...that was a response to another post by daktoria that wasnt involving sandusky so I thought...it was two different conversations on my part

I hear where you are coming from.. and sports do give many young men a leg up.. My cousin was a quarter back for a very prestigious East coast school and it helped him with med school and his orthopedic specialty.
