Pizza parlor’s giveaway sparks heated debate

I have no problem with the promotion. They are free to conduct their business however they see fit. That said, I would never eat there after hearing this. Now that they are on my radar I will make a point to skip the place. Besides, I only speak English.

Couple of issues- Pizza is not a traditional Spanish meal. Even if they make it in some spanish fashion it's origins are still Italian.

It seems to me that they may be using this promotion to stir the pot concerning immigration. Maybe not but it sort of comes off that way to me.

Pizza is sort of like French fries in that it's an American creation. Italian pizza is a completely different entrée.

So they are catering to their clientele? I don't know, if I wanted to sell more pizzas I wouldn't be adviertising that I am catering my business just to one language group.

...and that would make you a tool and a sell out. There's more to life than sales and catering to people you don't know.

It is food after all and pizza at that and we all love pizza. I am offended that I am not considered part of his clientele.

You can't be offended when all you care about is the product, not how it's made or invented.

Do you want people to become depressed in the future instead of inspired from the fact that they're remembered for what they make?

This is why I hate libertarianism - it doesn't realize how cultural relativism destroys property rights.

You can't have private property without properness. That means respecting where private property came from.

A Hispanic pizza joint obviously doesn't care about how pizza is an Italian creation. It further emphasizes how Hispanics are just a bunch of workaholics.

I have no idea what you're talking about, nor why you think it has relevance to my post.

Is pizza a Hispanic tradition?

Obviously, the pizzeria is selling out culture just to make a buck.

Do you always get this mad about marketing gimmicks?

If it was up to me, marketing would be illegal. Professionalizing relationships objectifies society.

Let's not forget, that even if it WERE an Italian creation (as we know it), America's been crapping on it for years under Dak's premise, since we order it in English using American toppings from American companies.

Absolutely ridiculous nonsense.

Exactly. Libertarians are naive. This is why you get made fun of for being childish all the time.

No, it was just incoherent blabbering devoid of any context.

Or maybe the points you're making are so absolutely insane and ridiculous that most people are completely unable to fathom a logical basis for them.

I agree, and that's the shame. Chicago and California style pizza are nothing like the original.

Floridians come from New York though. They should know better.

Did a check of their menu. It appears they're a "fusion" style restaurant. They've taken a cuisine made famous by a specific region and infused/modified it to incorporate cuisine from other regions. It's very common in the food world these days. And yeah, their menu is largely influenced by popular Hispanic culture and cuisine. The only dessert they have is churros, for example.

Still not seeing why we should be carrying torches and pitchforks.

You do realize you're agreeing that your argument is absolute ridiculous nonsense, right? Because that's what I was saying.

The only thing insane is you've completely forgotten the roots of how commodities are designed.

Consumer goods don't come out of thin air. You know liberals are laughing hysterically because the right doesn't care about history anymore, no?

I have no idea what the hell you're talking about. Nothing you're saying does anything to show that Pizza Patron is somehow wrong for what they do.

You might have expected some kind of fusion at place with that particular name. It's not exactly "Pagliacci's" or "Antonio's."

This is overblown controversy. The requirement is to say "Pizza Por Favor" when you call in. And the details are on the website. And it's a themed restaurant.

Would people be screaming bloody murder if Olive Garden or an Italian gellato place offered a free dessert for saying thank you in Italian?

So ba fongool wont work :(

It's not a question of "fathoming" -- there just isn't one.

As a capitalist, I find this pizza ordering fake controversy amusing and creative. What a great way to gin up business. Marketing wise, a little shady but as long as the fake issue goes viral, it's all good for the wallet. As a conservative, I don't give a squirt what language people use to order pizza.

DaHjaj SoH nob Pizza joq jIH HoH !!

You shouldn't make appeals to self-authority when you don't know what's going on.

You're just giving liberals something to laugh at.

Communication is the core of community.

Chicago style pizza is the best!

I'm not opposed to liberals laughing. I laugh at them daily.... communication is only the core of community if the communities communicate. Too often, pockets of communities only communicate within their own... let me reiterate: As a conservative, the OP sounds fine to me - it's very American, very capitalist, and I could care less.
