GOOD!!! GOOD!!! GOOD!!! and I know it wont pass the far right house majority....but its exactly whats needed to slap that young punk right in the face and any more like him...GET OUT...pay first and then never come back.
Im leaning more and more democrat all the time...they are obviously the only ones looking out for Most americans...and not a select group.

Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., has a status update for Facebook co-founder Eduardo Saverin: Stop attempting to dodge your taxes by renouncing your U.S. citizenship or never come to back to the U.S. again.
In September 2011, Saverin relinquished his U.S. citizenship before the company announced its planned initial public offering of stock, which will debut this week. The move was likely a financial one, as he owns an estimated 4 percent of Facebook and stands to make $4 billion when the company goes public. Saverin would reap the benefit of tax savings by becoming a permanent resident of Singapore, which levies no capital gains taxes.

Awww...Poor Chuckie...all bent out of shape because a bunch of rich guys want to keep what's theirs and won't willingly give it to the government to spend.

Chuck would be better served by understanding why these guys are leaving in the first place and trying to work with them...rather than act like a child and try to punish them.

I'm glad the House won't let this stupid bill pass.

See...that's the problem right there...somehow, both you and Chuckie think you own some of these rich guy's stuff.

Facebook didn't just spring up out of the Internet...somebody created it, nurtured it and grew it into what it is today. That somebody wasn't the federal government.

Not at all what I said. IMHO the guy is free to be as unpatriotic as he wants to be. I'm also free to say screw the little ungrateful brat who has benefitted immensely from an investment of tax payers dollars that went towards the development of the internet.

Ummm...my post wasn't addressed to you.

Did you make a mistake?

I'd bet that that initial investment has been repaid many times over by the revenues generated by profitable companies that have utilized the internet. Should one have to "repay" that debt forover or are you proposing individually? Sounds like a sweet pyramid scheme.

Frankly, the investment into the "internet" had nothing to do with the public. It was a military venture by DARPA to create an interconnected network for the military.

Don't forget over 60 years of government support for the computing industry! From DoD to NASA

???

Are you saying that IBM, Intel, Microsoft, Apple and the myriad other computer-related industries would not be in existence except for the government?

Very true. HOWEVER, it has always been my belief that if you want to make money from Americans than you should be both a RESIDENT and a CITIZEN of the United States, with your company based here in the United States.

Well, I can't agree with that...since I wouldn't be enjoying my awesome gaming computer if your belief were reality.

With all due respect; is your gaming computer a NEED in life, or a WANT? One of my beliefs about the downfall of our society is that we have moved too far to worrying about the WANTS in society instead of being content with having the NEEDS.

Most people's needs are met in this country...and, compared to other countries, quite handsomely. In my case, my gaming computer is a want, for sure, but why shouldn't I satisfy my wants? My needs are met. Under your scenario, though, I wouldn't be able to have my computer because no American company makes all the parts in America.

The problem is that (unlike you) we have way too many people who are more interested in their WANTS rather than their NEEDS. That's the impetus behind the credit crisis in this nation right now. We have Government programs to provide CABLE TV to welfare recipients; as one example.

Besides, if a Japanese company was not able to sell their products in the US, maybe a US company would spring up to make those products domestically.

He's already paid taxes, from his earnings from Facebook.
This bill is merely an attempt to get more and punish people who want to leave their U.S. citizenship.

Should states do this as well?
Should New York, Alabama, etc. be able to bar people from entering their state and impose high taxes on those who want to change residency?

I really don't see how your views on whether people are more interested in satisfying their wants than their needs has anything to do with your initial statement about products sold in America being produced by American companies headed up by American citizens...but, whatever.

In regards to your contention that American companies would spring up to make my computer parts...maybe...but at what cost? Would I be able to afford them? Probably not.

Maybe is a pretty important word in that statement. What if it can't be made here, then what? Tough ****?

You OWN some of mine...I pay taxs...I "EARN" my money here and I give some of it here....can you grasp that ? Now he can leave, I have no problem with that...but id make him leave the portion he should be leaving here...and just slam the door after it hits him in the ass.
Somehow you think its just perfect for ALL AMERICANS to make this little pos Super rich and its just perfect for him to take it "ALL" to china...and then allow him to just come back whenever he wants and enjoy what OTHER americans pay for....yeah right...your the one with the distorted thinking

Many states such as New York do impose a non residency tax for those who earn income within the state and reside in another state.

Re: Senators to Unveil the ‘Ex-Patriot Act’ to Respond to Facebook’s Saverin’s Tax ‘S

If he still owes taxes he should be made to pay it. But I don't think people who renounce their citizenship should be forbidden from reentering the US. He should have to apply for a travel visa just like everyone else.

The bad news? He is unamerican.

The good news? We can deport his unpatriotic ass now. I want to see his papers, and he had better damn well have a green card among them. Otherwise he is an illegal alien.

Mycroft, im going to make one more attempt at trying to make you understand this...

I pay taxs on what I make here in the United States...so does everyone else with an income...This facebook kid MIGRATED to the united states and WE gave him citizenship. We created the environement that ALLOWED him to make billions. Now when it comes time for him to pay a percentage of what he MADE OFF HIS FELLOW AMERICANS..just like all americans do...he says FU USA...and denounces his citizenship and wants to be a chinese citizen. To avoid paying his fair share of taxs on the money WE ALLOWED HIM TO BE ABLE TO EARN....now if you cant understand that no one is trying to steal from this scummer...that we just want him to do what ALL OF US DO...
