the bigger the government the more it can screw stuff up. and it was government that required banks to lend to irresponsible borrowers.
no it was not
texas did not suffer from a housing crisis because the banks were preventeg from idiotic loans. in places with less restrictive banking laws the banks made idiotic loans. See ireland and spain as foreign examples. the vast majority of loans were made voluntarily then sold other investors. they were made because the banks were making money on them
