If this is actually true (at this time, I am not prepared to believe the source), I cannot help but roll my eyes. The GOP are knee deep into pushing for voter ID cards because of voter fraud, yet their own candidate is potentially one of those fraudsters? You can't make this **** up. LOL

Republican presidential front-runner Mitt Romney has survived the heated GOP nominating contest so far without attracting significant attention to what may become a general election issue: allegations that he committed voter fraud in 2010.
In January 2010 the former Massachusetts governor proudly cast a ballot for Republican Scott Brown in the special election to replace the late Sen. Ted Kennedy. He didn’t own property in the state at the time, and had registered to vote listing his son’s unfinished basement as his residence.

I'm just guessing on this, but I'm pretty sure this will turn up to be a "Birther" type accusation. The left would do very well to stay away from this IMO.

owning property is not a requirement to vote..

It is true, and it is not the first time. He had similar claims against him a while ago, which were "fixed" with an apology and some clerical error... but fool me twice.. I smell a rat.

According to the rules of the state (as far as I remember) you need a close familiar bond, a residence and amount of time in the state to qualify for residence. Now what is worse, we have plenty of evidence that he in fact was living in California, because guess who said they were... His wife, the closest familiar bond you can have.

We have residences in 2 states, I am registered in Utah, my wife is registered in Arizona. Our state taxes are paid to AZ only, they don't tax social security, which we both draw.

It wasn't planned, just became feasible when dealing with vehicle registration laws of each state, and auto insurance rates.

There are a LOT of differences state to state, it took us a while to get things sorted out.
But being retirees, none of our income is "earned", and it allows us some flexibility regarding the tax laws of each state.

Yea but this aint Utah and Arizona we are talking about. Massachusetts has different rules.

Now I expect him to weasel his way out of this problem, just as he did the first time, but it will hurt his reputation.

politicians and reputations......need we go there?:2razz:

The biggest argument against voter ID's has been that voter fraud never happens.

I would tend to take this accusation with a grain... No, make that a shaker of salt. The daily caller is a very Conservative publication that hates Romney, and is pissed that he won the nomination.

some conservatives would be upset if Jesus Christ won the nomination....

For a long time, I have wondered how Hillary Clinton could have been elected senator from New York when she didn't live in the state at the time she was campaigning? How does just owning property qualify you for NY Senator when she hadn't even made the place her present domicile? Answer that one for me because it has me baffled.

I suspect that Daily Caller is putting it out there so it it be old news come November.

unless we have some proof that he voted in multiple state elections, I fail to see the issue of voter fraud.

Otherwise, I tend to believe that former governors of a given state frequently maintains his residency in that state.
