Current TV Dismisses Keith Olbermann

And Olbermann is being replaced by none other than Elliot Spitzer. LOL

His first show guests include Anthony Weiner, John Edwards, Bill Clinton, and Tiger Woods.

Where's Rosie?

Detest is more the word. And scared of him, too.

I've always thought this guy will leave this world in an ugly way. Liberals are generally eaten up with bitterness and resentment anyway, but this guy takes it to a disturbing level. The anger and craziness in his voice is scary at times.

He's the guy that goes postal and shoots up the office on the way out.

Abhor is probably the best word.

He isn't even allowed to set foot on ESPN's property anymore! That's real hatred.

Remember. This is guy used to be the Rush Limbaugh of the left. Tonight candles will be lit all over this great nation to "Speak Truth to Power" for dear Keith.

Well I enjoyed Keith Olbermann when he first started on MSNBC, but when he got fired and went to Current, I thought he was unwatchable. Good riddance! No biggie.

Like the wingnuts said about Limbaugh -- Olberman is probably worth over $60 million. Poor fella.

Apparently he he just can't get along with anyone.

His "tool" factor is so high even Hyatt and Gore can't stand him. He can always work over at the Washington Post or Mother Jones. I think his prima donna act just grinds everyone the wrong way after a short period of time.

In your opinion, what made him unwatchable?

I think he is deeply troubled, with a personality disorder. I remember when the bio movie of Edward R. Murrow came out. Shortly after that, he began signing off like Edward R. Murrow did. He is very insecure.

KO is a hugely talented individual who personifies what it means to be an excellent journalist. He had a tremendous show on MSNBC and I was very sorry to see him leave as he did. My cable service does not get the Al Gore channel so I never saw him there.

I must say that I suspect what pushes him to excellence - perhaps fire in the belly or amazingly high standards he has set for himself - in his profession must be some sort of double edged sword which also pushes him to alienate people in his professional relationships and to get himself fired. I hope KO takes this latest setback as a sort of hitting bottom career wise and uses it as an opportunity to get back on the path where he needs to be. It will be sad to not have him during this presidential election. But my first hope for him in thanks for all the great hours he has provided in my viewing is that he takes some time for inward introspection and straightens out whatever demons seem to be befalling him.

When I watch a show, I expect to be entertained and to add some usable content, he did neither. Plus he had better guests on his show when he was on MSNBC.

I think you're in a very, very tiny minority.

I get that he is a tool, but does anybody know what exactly happened at ESPN?

He treats people like dirt and thinks everyone is there to help him to success. He's not a team player.

"Current TV" is actually 'real'? Seriously? I thought it was just a joke people were making to ridicule Al Gore. Do they actually have a measurable viewing audience?

Liberal mass media outfits based primarily on issues tend to not do well while outfits that are based primarily on information, such as NPR are very successful. My guess is that there is a difference in preference for information consumption between ideologies, can't find any studies on the subject though, so I don't know.

So...it IS real though? Well...I guess it makes sense...Al Gore can counter his profits on carbon credits and his sham green initiatives with the 'business' losses.

Eh, I'm not surprised. I imagine the only human on the planet who isn't suffocated by his intense narcissism and enormous ego is probably his mother. This is a man who is universally dispised by every human being who has ever had to work with or around him. I'm never surprised to see him fired. The only thing that surprises me is when some fool gives him a job, and thinks he'll be different.

No loss to anyone... except my gullible husband, who actually liked his MSNBC show because he made fun of Bill O'Reilly.

It is... I think Comcast in my area carries it. (Just checked) yes it's channel 107 on Comcast. I just tuned in, and it's "Viewpoint" with Elliot Spitzer in Olberman's spot.

Most measures I have seen shows that NPR has a very slight liberal POV. In some its almost not measurable (unless its someone like Taviss Smiley or Terry Gross, they are flaming), but I think a good bit of the charm isn't in the information, but in the style and presentation. Voices tend to be calm with a measured cadence for example.

I didn't understand what you were going on with the al gore stuff, but I don't pay attention to that guy so probably am missing some bit of context.

I always liked listening to Olberman and Bob Costas talk baseball, but politically he was nothing less than what he despised on the other side.
