Limbaugh: Sandra Fluke is not a slut

Rush Limbaugh opened his syndicated radio show on Monday by reiterating the weekend apology he had made to Sandra Fluke, the Georgetown law student whom the outspoken host had called a "slut" and "prostitute" for her testimony about contraception the week before.


"I descended to [the left's] level when I used those two words to describe Sandra Fluke," Limbaugh said. "I've always tried to maintain a very high degree of integrity and independence on this program. Nevertheless, those two words were inappropriate. They were uncalled for. They distracted from the point that I was actually trying to make, and I again sincerely apologize to Ms. Fluke for using those two words to describe her. I do not think she is either of those two words. I did not think last week that she is either of those two words."

I don't think the man is through like so many on the left hope he will be but he will take some time to recover, and he is a perfect example of what is happening to the right.
 
I think he should have stuck to his guns. Most of his listeners seemed to agree with him. He is not in the business of being respectful or truthful. He is in the business of entertaining people by inciting, sensationalizing, omitting facts, and denigrating. Apologizing makes him appear reasonable, and we should all know by this point that the last thing people on the far right like is people who are reasonable.

He is NOT in the entertainment business. Entertainment panders to the audience. His audience panders to him.

He is an evangelist of a particular brand of conservatism. It should be no surprise that a congregation has formed around his rhetoric. Those who lack the ability to think for themselves often mistake conviction for substance and they will gather around those who preach the loudest, not the wisest.

But do not be mistaken. He is an entertainer. That is his business and his goal is to make money. His actions as an entertainer will reflect whatever course he believes will net him the most money. I believe apologizing was a miscalculation on his part.

What??? You think that most of his listeners agreed that Ms. Fluke was a slut...a prostitute...that she should be required to post her sex tapes on the internet? How would you know that? If you're talking about callers, those are all so heavily screened that not one gets on the air until it's been thoroughly vetted by Snerdly. (Hahahahaha!!!)

And you thought he should have stuck to his guns. I, on the other hand, think he should have just simply stuck his guns where the sun don't shine.

This is one case where liberals and the left can finally point to and say "Rush Limbaugh is lying". OF COURSE Sandra Fluke is a slut, she's a lawyer!

His argument that it is slutty to want the government to pay for contraception appeals to a wide base of conservatives who believe that women, who are the traditional gate keepers when it comes to sex, should keep their legs closed rather than use contraception. Abstinence is seen as preferable by many on the right over recreational sex, and the right certainly does not want to pay for the sexual exploits that they do not agree with or find moral.
