Now I'll invest and the thing will come crashing down again!

No doubt, right? I am FINALLY back to the dollar amount I was at before Bush took office. (A bit more actually.) It has been a long road for sure.

But stocks are for the long term I am told. Just hang in there Tuck.

Anything the government subsidizes is going to grow.

Moments ago, the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed over 13,000 for the first time since May 19, 2008. The stock market is now up over 56 percent since Obama took office. <snip>

Thank you Mr. President. SOME of us are actually paying attention out here. Looking forward to your next term. ;)

Good news indeed! My business also more than doubled in income last year. It seems we have an upward trend going here!!!

Bill Maher said his donation of a million dollars to the Obama super pac was actually kind of selfish on his part, because he knew that if the GOP candidates get elected and we go back to the same deregulation, supply side economics of the past, he would lose much more than a million.

I got one word for ya Tuck (if it's even a word.)

ING

I have an ING fund with a lifelong track record of doubling investments within any 10 year time frame since it's inception.

I lost about 34% of my life savings on the American Funds Washington Mutual Fund. Rolled it all over to ING and I am right on time for doubling my investment and maybe even more if we can keep these stocks on a roll.

Don't think ol' Bill needs to worry about the election much.

I'm actually looking at them for starting my sons college fund. I'm still in the research phase and he's about to turn 1. :doh

Do not give him advice. Apparently he is the stock market equivalent to Cincinnati sport teams.

Hopefully the news will grow some confidence for others.

The DOW is not the only indicator worth paying attention to. Though I have seen most economic indicators improving over the last half year...this is not a GREAT sign.

Good yes....great NO.

You love him when it's up, you love him when it's down. So who cares?

He cautioned not to take an Obama win as a sure thing. He makes a good point that with the Citizens United ruling, this election is a whole new ball game.

Hmm...Obama brings the Dow Jones up 56%...while Bush brings it down 60%.

fascinating. :)

Yeah, but, but, but........

Obama's a black muslim with big ears who wants to burn your cross, take your guns and rape all the white women.

LOL!

Tucker, I HIGHLY recommend the ING fund. Also, stay AWAY from my rich ass, "If you ain't Catholic you're going to hell," rightwing republican cousin of mine who calls himself a financial advisor. He's pretty much led my whole family almost to bankrupcy with his bad investments on our behalf. We all thought him being family and all....

Meanwhile, he's living pretty large while we took it up the butt. Needless to say we don't see a lot of him anymore at weddings and reunions.

Well, I s'pose we shouldn't take anything for granted but I do not personally believe there are that many stupid Americans.

Merel had it all figured out years ago. Rainbow stew
"There's a big, brown cloud in the city,
And the countryside's a sin.
An' the price of life is too high to give up,
Gotta come down again.
When the world wide war is over and done,
And the dream of peace comes true.
We'll all be drinkin' free bubble-up,
Eatin' that rainbow stew.
When they find out how to burn water,
And the gasoline car is gone.
When an airplane flies without any fuel,
And the sunlight heats our home.
One of these days when the air clears up,
And the sun comes shinin' through.
We'll all be drinkin' free bubble-up,
An' eatin' that rainbow stew.

Eatin' rainbow stew in a silver spoon,
Underneath that sky of blue.
All be drinkin' free bubble-up,
An' eatin' that rainbow stew.

You don't have to get high to get happy,
Just think about what's in store.
When people start doin' what they oughta be doin',
Then they won't be booin' no more.
When a President goes through the White House door,
An' does what he says he'll do.
We'll all be drinkin' free bubble-up,
Eatin' that rainbow stew.

Eatin' rainbow stew in a silver spoon,
Underneath that sky of blue.
We'll all be drinkin' that free bubble-up,
Eatin' some rainbow stew.

Eatin' rainbow stew in a silver spoon,
Underneath that sky of blue.
All be drinkin' that free bubble-up,
Eatin' rainbow stew.

You really shoulda gave Merle some props on that post bro. Just sayin'....

good song...

Fairly amazing how quick the the far right flipped from Obama is just making things worse, to its none of his doing that's causing things to get better.

One thing is for sure, its getting harder and harder make the case that Obama is making things worse!

The comments sections are usually great places to find panaceas to the partisanship of the blog post:

Awesome! Too bad volume is anemic, durable goods are down -4% (very bad), unemployment is actually 15% (see CBO report) and we have the lowest labor participation rate since 1980.... Throw 16 trillion at just about anything and it will go up momentarily....

too bad the stock market is not the economy...
