How'd
did this slip by The Obama's radar? They'll block an oil pipeline, but build the
first nuclear plant in like 34 years. The left has done everything it can
prevent America from developing our nuclear industry. They're misguided efforts
to resist nuclear power has forced us to strip mine coal and burn zillions of
tons of coal a year, then they complain about global wa.. i mean climate change.
At the same time raising the price of basic living, hurting the poorest among us
most, while claiming they care about the poor. Cheap energy would help the poor
the most, but thats just to far.

Look
at the countrys the left worships... The American left should feel duped for
letting there friends take the lead in the global energy production industry. I
wonder if France is teaching us how to make our new reactors?

Liberals want subsidize solar. Conservatives want to subsidize nuclear.

atleast nuclear makes a decent amount of power. Solar can never meet our energy needs, but it is a good supliment.

Nuclear can't meet our energy needs either. All forms if energy are supplemental.

In fact you can get off the grid with solar. The problem is battery technology is too expensive.

We burn zillions of tons of coal each year... strip mine it, I think nuclear can totally meet our energy needs because it makes way more power then coal at way less cost

Currently nuclear can supply more energy more efficiently than solar.

the problem with solar is it only works 1/2 the day. Nuclear runs 24/7. Living off the grid is easy if u use gas to heat ur water and burn wood to heat ur house. And use gas to run ur car

Hollywood stopped nuke power in this country, maybe Hanoi Jane needs to make a pro nuke movie now since obama is pro nuke.

pro nuke, anti pipelines...

We need to get the nuclear industry in America on track.

As a left-of-center believer in AGW, I am entirely in agreement with this, with the only addition that we should continue to make advances in power from clean, renewable resources.

Obama has made expanded nuclear power a pillar of his energy policy.

If The Obama came out for new nuclear plants to be built across the country, I'd vote for him.

Nuke plants are uninsurable because of the potential for devastation.
Nuke plants can not be financed by banks because they are uninsurable.
This is the most highly subsidized energy industry in the USA.
They are unsafe and present radioactive contamination hazards on multiple levels for thousands of years. Just keep watching the cleanup in Japan, Chernobyl, Hanford, Vermont Yankee, Three Mile Island, etc. The only reason these monstrosities are built is because their electricity production funnels into the Centralized Collection of Monies grid that represents an existing big money monopoly of Distributed Energy. Local renewables, especially solar and wind, build jobs, communities and economies at a local level, but end run the existing grid and that is why they don't get the huge subsidies that "nukes" get.

Odd, cause there out there. Must be running illegaly with no insurance

The government should be involved in nucleap power

And its all aweful, wonder how long till they all die....

LOL, the power grid is the devil...

Woo hoo cheap nuclear... that doesn't sound like a good idea. Lets build the cheapest nuclear reactor possible fellas what could go wrong?

ya, strip mining coal and burning zillions of tons per year is so much better

With all the nuclear plants around the world, you'd think these things would be going off all the time. Must be pretty safe.

They are pretty safe, when highly subsidised, with stringent safety regulations. You however said you want cheap nuclear. I don't like the idea of doing it on the cheap and nuclear together.

Ok... u took somethin I said the wrong way. I'm not sayin we build "cheap" nuclear plants, I'm sayin they produce "cheap" energy.

Gotta love the irony of accusing liberals of being responsible for the delays, when it is a liberal President that got the ball moving on this. It doesn't occur to some people that the fossil fuel industry is also highly involved in obstructing nuclear energy talks in the U.S., because it wants to maintain its monopoly on energy as much as possible?

Hey lets not let logic and common sense spoil the culture war.
