Madison – Gov. Scott Walker has hired two experienced defense attorneys and will meet with Milwaukee County prosecutors about the John Doe investigation into his current and former aides.
Walker said in a statement released by his campaign Friday that he will not use any public money to pay for the attorneys that he has hired ahead of a meeting with prosecutors in Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm’s office. Walker, who has repeatedly said he did nothing wrong, did not say when the meeting will happen.
Walker's meeting in front of the Milwaukee County DA is finally going to happen. I believe that this meeting will result in no charges being filed against Walker, but it will also show that Walker allowed his staff, while he was Milwaukee County Executive, to pretty much go off the reservation. This is not a case of Walker being a criminal, but being a very piss poor manager. As of now, 6 of his former staff and associates have been indicted on charges ranging from illegal campaign contributions, to embezzlement from a veteran's fund, to theft, even to the sexual enticement of a child.
I previously predicted that Walker would survive the recall, but now I am not so sure. In the last few days, Walker himself has become the red meat for his opponents. One thing for certain - His staff and associates definitely thought that they were above the law, and now the long arm of the law has nabbed them. And this investigation is not finished yet.
