NEW YORK (AP) - An ABC News executive tells The Associated Press that the network has interviewed Newt Gingrich's second wife and is likely to air the segment Thursday on "Nightline."

That's two days before the South Carolina primary, where the Republican presidential candidate is trying to topple GOP front-runner Mitt Romney.

The ABC News executive did not indicate what the ex-wife, Marianne, said in the interview and spoke on the condition of anonymity because the plans for airing the interview were tentative.

The ex-wife has said Gingrich proposed to her before the divorce from his first wife was final in 1981. Her marriage to Gingrich ended in divorce in 2000. Gingrich admitted he'd already taken up with Callista Bisek, his third wife.

His ex-wife said in the past that she will not allow Newt to become President and knows enough about him to prevent it from ever happening. Should be interesting. They were married for 18 years, so I'm sure she knows where most of the skeletons are.

To be honest, I don't give a rat's ass what she has to say about Newt. Is it really necessary for the American public to make a decision on whether to vote for the guy? To me, the answer is simple. All one has to do is look at his record. Ethics aside, even his own party ditched him. So why would anything be different now? He's scum and I don't need Marianne's story to make that determination.

WLS Radio Chicago had a guest on this morning who said she's going to be interviewed tonight on television, and her bombshell is that Newt approached her when they were still married and wanted an open marriage with her and his current wife Callista. Big deal. I feel so sorry for she who cheated with Newtie on his first wife. But none of it makes any difference because he never stood a chance of being president anyhow.

I do have to say, though, that he appears to have been named correctly.

He obviously has many supporters at this time. This could be a deal breaker for some. He already has very low approval numbers from women.

But, we are all shocked that you wouldn't vote for him.

Frankly I don't know what she could say to destroy his presidential run that he hasn't already said himself.

If he's not calling spanish the language of the ghetto he's calling poor people lazy and HE'S going to teach them how to get a job...

The fact that anyone still supports this pompous, puffed up little twat says alot about some of the Republican electorate I'm afraid.

Anybody with sound judgement would not vote for him. The people that support him need to get their heads checked.

The pathetic thing is that many Americans have this vision of what a politician SHOULD be instead of the reality of what a politician IS. A politician is a person that is prone to making mistakes.

You would think by now after all the elections in the past 3 decades and the internet era that people would realize this. There is no "pure at heart" candidate that makes no mistakes either by actions or morally. A successful politician nowadays is just someone who tries their best to keep their skeletons in the closet in the hopes that it isn't found until AFTER they are elected.

If people would just stop falling for this nonsense, then maybe we could actually get a poltician that could do some good instead of being something fake. One needs to only see all the negative ads being run to see that polticians are taking advantage of how many people are stupid and would fall for it.

This is the real reason I think America is doomed. Our leaders are just just fakes who spend most of their time trying to keep an image instead of focusing on real problems. And why do polticians keep doing this? Because the majority of America is full of idiots who eat it up like popcorn.

Lying is lying. The only difference is that Clinton broke a law in lying. That still doesn't negate his or Newt's lie in anyway.

Oh and you asked who gives a care if someone cheats? Tell that to social conservatives because they believe it's a big deal.

LOL, let me point out that there is a difference between lying under oath and lying to your spouse.

The comedy is seeing liberals all in a froth smearing Newt for having cheated on his two wives. Who were equal-opportunity adulterers, btw.

See, one thing I've learned from social conservatives (and celebrities). If you do something really bad, just wait a while (a number of years), say you've repented, then ask for forgiveness and then repeat the whole process again. The majority of Americans will fall for it I guess

Which is a fair analysis for anyone to make, although it certainly invokes "let he who is without fault cast the first stone ..."

Gingrich has gotten the support of Palin. And I am quite certain many other Conservatives. Its the liberals here and everywhere raising the big stink, flailing their arms, and in a general panic over this. Which gets us perfectly back the the "hypocrisy" ;)

Perhaps I should have explained it better, for our Canadian friends.

Palin is a mainstream darling of the hard right here. For that matter, Gov Perry is as well, and he is about to endorse Gingrich. The point is that it is the Left all in a wad over Gingrich and the wanderings of his little head in decades past. It is the Left that are the hypocrites here.

I don't think Mrs. 2nd can say anything that will deter conservative/evangelical/tea party/fringe lunatic votes. Don't ever forget that Newt converted to Roman Catholicism. He has confessed his sins and received absolution and I can only image what penance he was assigned. God has forgiven him his indiscretions, how can we not?
