Wisconsin Democrats handed in one million signatures on Tuesday calling for the recall of GOP Gov. Scott Walker, but Republicans have succeeded in delaying any election, likely improving the governor's chances of surviving the bruising and widely publicized battle.Republicans recently won a court order requiring the Government Accountability Board, which is responsible for counting signatures, to check for duplicate and fake signatures. Board officials said they will accomplish that by entering each name into a database. That painstaking process will put off the election at least until late spring. The election could be further delayed by legal challenges fueled by a separate examination of signatures the Walker camp has pledged to conduct.
Absolutely approve of this move. Can't wait to see if the Unions managed to get 1,000,000 legit signatures.

Nothing surprises me anymore at what the weasels in Madison are willing to do to usurp the will of the people. They have runamuck.

This will be a true test as to what weight the will of the people REALLY holds here in America. Now Walker wants to act like Kadaffi and refuse to yeild to the masses. Typical of GOP folks these days. Not surprised MrV approves.

I don't think the need but 540k so with 1m turned in they probably have enough. But the process described in the article is going to drag this out for some time which may help OR hurt Walker's chances. Of course until 'certified' the opposition will not have to name their candidate which could help/hurt them. We'll see...if they get what they want or what they asked for...

If they are just trying to ensure that all of the signatures are real, then great, if they are just forcing an unnecessarily long procedure to try to slow down the process then they are just letting people know just how badly they need to be recalled.

if walker is so sure he will survive the recall, why the need for this? why doesnt he tell his people to stand down? have not his cronies been crying about how much the recall is costing the state? doesnt this add to that cost? seems a bit hypocritical to me....he is willing to spend the money when his ass is on the line.

I don't think he's sure he'll survive the recall. At all. He can't be. Common sense says he's in trouble. This is the political process at work. Let it grind it's way through whatever hoops the election board has in place; let the Republicans conduct their own investigation. Surely if the situation were reversed, the Dems would do the same.

Consider if he rushed through this process and pressed for a recall election ASAP. The Democrats would be screaming as they need time to choose a candidate and have adequate time to campaign. The recall process is not merely an up/down vote on Walker but simultaneously includes the alternative candidate. It would seem in the Democrats best interest to have more time as they have yet to announce their pick.

There is generally a state law governing the amount of time between recall votes being handed in and accepted and the actual recall election. He doesn't have the authority to declare the election to be the next weekend. The only thing he could do is slow it down by taking actions such that he has here. If any of the process is slowed down any more than is necessary just to ensure that votes are on the up and up then I think he's just making it more likely that he'll lose the election anyways.

Listen to your rhetoric, you're disgusting. So you don't like Walker, and you support recalling him early. I get that. Is there any PLACE in American Politics for your over the top hate? No, but that's what you and people like you are reduced too. Emotionalism. Your arguments are not rationale, your position untenable, and the worst part is, you think it's not only proper, but necessary to be so... venomous. You CA, disgust me.

Can you voice your position without the BS? Of course not, that's hard to do. Much easier to play the angry guy.

I assure you sir, I, like many here on this forum, find you to be equally as disgusting but I digress. You are insignificant so I really don't get bothered by you very much.

However, I will refrain from the personal insults and attacks you are so well known for when you are on the losing end of the battle. It is enough for me to know that I am me and I am not like you. That is much to be thankful for. And since I'm on the winning end of this battle I will simply let you continue to talk your trash. Like I said, insignificant.

PS. Who's the angry guy? I believe that would be you sir.

I find this post so pleasing that a mere thanks doesn't do it justice.

I'm unclear who the weasels are here.

the will of the people is what gave Walker the election 14+ months ago. Now the nut jobs are making the people of Wisconsin go through another costly election

I can only imagine how much pleasure you derive from sending our children off to die in uncalled for wars or sending American jobs overseas. Life has been very good to you lately. Enjoy it while it lasts. We're taking our country back. One state at a time. It begins here in Wisconsin.

We may have to change that slightly label. ;)

I did not talk trash, I berated you for your unwarranted language in discussing the Wisconsin recall effort.

Well, if i wasn't such a pro-gun, pro-life, anti-government cheese kinda guy I might consider that.

As a kid, I ate a lot of government cheese and beans. Thanks for the memories . . . not!

;)

wow are you off base. I can't think of another poster on this forum more opposed to our foreign policy then I am, but that has nothing to do wtih the issue of a governor of a state.

This isn't really news. Your article just says that they are going to make sure all the signatures are valid. Everybody already knew that that's what they were going to do which is why the Democrats got so many signatures - in order to make sure that any invalid signatures wouldn't even matter.

The only new information that this article would provide is if the Republicans are making it take longer than it needs to take and considering I can't imagine why it would take until late Spring, it seems that might be the case although it's likely that they are just exaggerating the time frame.

If only 1/2 of them are legit, that's enough. I bet that less than 1% are phoney and, further, I bet it was a republican who attempted to falsify the recall efforts in their unscrupulous support for Herr Walker.

Any takers?

You are 100% correct on that one. Were you following Operation Burn Notice on Facebook? It was the plan by a lot of assholes to pretend that they were collecting signatures for the recall, and then burn all the signatures they collected. This is why a number of people signed petitions twice. It was to make sure that their signatures were going to count, in light of the fact that some assholes were planning to burn a lot of them, instead of turning them in. To Walker's credit, he publicly denounced this tactic, but it did not stop the tactic from happening. Facebook finally shut Operation Burn Notice down, and there is a criminal investigation going on over it. Whoever gets indicted over Operation Burn Notice is looking at a LOT of prison time.

That's wonderful news MrV__Sometimes the wheels of justice turn slowly in favor of the good guys.

Hopefully someday we will live in a nation free of the corrupt, crime ridden, job destroying, socialist unions.

Scott Rocks! :rock

Someone should do a 50/50 with an over/under on how many dead people, duplicates, pets, etc... are going to on that list. Proceeds go to like the Cancer Society or something....

Frankly, LBJ got more of our sons killed that 10 W's. And Obama has insured that Americans tomorrow will suffer more than anything he inherited.

But I agree. One state at a time. We are going to show liberalism for being the ethically and financially bankrupt wet blanket that it is. No better place to start than with the dimented selfish "me first" liberals of Wisconsin.

Well, it you're going to compare deaths in Vietnam to deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan, you're going to have to account for the role that technology, environment and other factors played in reducing deaths during the latter wars. And Obama hasn't really ensured any suffering.

That's probably not going to happen. Liberalism, like conservatism, is a set of philosophies that resonates with a lot of Americans and much of it is based in a set of ethical principles that many people identify with. I do agree that financial restraint could have a larger a place is liberal policies.
