Yah know, alot of you who know me might be surprised to hear this, but I find this absolutely disgusting.

Look it's one thing if you as an adult wanna go up to Bachmann and say, yah know what? I don't need fixing, but with the fact someone was filming it shows me there was prior intent to get the kid to go up to Bachmann to say it.

Now I could be incorrect and the kid might have genuinely wanted to say that to Bachmann, I don't know, but it just seemed like the parents thought it'd be funny.

I dunno I wouldn't drag my kids into any political fluff like this.

I couldn't hear it. What did the kid say?

i agree.
though i dont care for her or her hypocritical talking points, i care even less for schemes like this.

I think it takes a brave kid to face down the monster of our times.

Studies have shown that children of gay couples are better equipped in terms of having thick skins and dealing with the ugliness in our world. They have above average confidence and emotional maturity.

Bachmann, the great 'mother' of so many foster children (and I'm sure she thinks she loves children) had to come face to face with a family she is doing harm to. Her anti-gay, homophobic rhetoric fuels those that would hurt this family, directly and indirectly.

Bachmann and her husband are a watered-down Fred Phelps. They do great harm and don't realize it.

Thanks to this brave boy, she now has to put a face on the innocent children of gay couples that she puts in harm's way through her promotion of bigotry.

The boy is stronger because of this.

using a child that has no concept of that of which he speaks to get a "gotcha" moment on a politician is really really bad form.

it's not her gayness that need fixing.... it's her parenting that needs fixing.

He's aware that there are people on TV who say ugly untrue things about his family.

He just confronted one of them.

Not a gotcha moment. A picture all social-cons should have burned into their brain. Children of gay couples are hurt by your bigotry.

it's her parenting that needs fixing.

She's teaching her son to be strong and confront bullies.

Let's ask the grown up children of gay couples what they think...

8,000 likes, 3,000 dislikes...

I guess I'm not alone in thinking the only bad parent in the video is Bachmann.

this child knows nothing about that of which he speaks... he was not divulging his own thoughts ( he's too young to have developed such thoughts)... he was reciting what his mother told him to say to bachman.
the mother should have told bachman directly, and not used her child.

that you support using children in this fashion is telling.

and really.... what bigotry of mine are you speaking of that hurts children of gay couples?.. do tell...

...Could have sworn this video started another thread awhile ago....Too lazy to look it up though.

But in anycase I like the kid. No one here knows if the child was coached or not. They just assume that he is because a kid that young "can't possibly" think on these terms. I've seen lots of kids with exceptional thinking ability before, seen even more via TV, youtube etc etc. Yet when it comes to something like this...well its "just not possible". This also probably why Bachmann will probably dismiss what happened.

But whether you agree with the video or not, the fact is, hazlnut is correct in his assessment.

I would love to see you prove this.

Yeah, would conclude it was just a tacky stunt. Don't think it is anything that is gonna scar the kid, but it's usually tasteless when you use children for political props.

I couldn't hear it. What did the kid say?

He said, "Please help me I am being raised without a male figure in my life on purpose because my old lady cares only about her life and not mine".

Yes I would. After all you've made a claim. Surely you can prove it?

that I would need to prove an 7-8 year old has an extremely limited knowledge base and understanding of issues pertaining to sexuality.. specifically legal and psychological aspects of said issue... is kinda sad.

do I doubt this kid believes his mom doesn't need fixin' ?.. no, I do not.. it's his mom after all... moms are generally seen as "perfect" to their young children, no matter if they are or not.
do I doubt that he is knowledgeable and understanding of the message his mom sent him to give bachman... yes, most assuredly I am.
do you believe this 7-8 year old child keeps up with the political and social opinions of republican candidates?.. or is it safe to say he wouldn't know Bachman from any other lady?
where do you suppose he got the idea to go up to this lady and tell her something about his mommy that he naturally lacks in understanding of?..why would he choose bachman to tell this opinion of his to, if not at the behest of his mother?

I think we would agree that bachman needs some "fixin'"... but let's ask one of her young children and see what they say... i'm quite certain we will see an entirely different opinion on the matter... primarily because ,as young children, they are ignorant.. and secondarily, because it's their mommy.

Do you really think that the kid needs to know all this in order to have an opinion? Don't you think that maybe he could have been sitting with mommy "just because" as kids are wont to do and just happened to see what his mommy was watching on TV at the same time that Bachmann was making her anti-gay comments? Don't you think that at that momment he couldn't have made the connection that led to him perhaps wanting to tell Bachmann what he did?

Just because his statement was loaded to us doesn't mean that it was to him.

Obviously the mother does need to be fixed. What kind of an animal uses their child (especially considering the child was scared and did not want to do it) for their own political purposes on film?

sure... anything is possible, even that which is not plausible.... so yeah, it's possible that this kid just happened to find himself at a bachman book signing event( or whatever the hell this was) purely by coincidence after sitting on his mommy lap watching republican candidates on the TV espouse their opinions on sexuality and coming up with the idea to tell bachman his mom doesn't need fixing all on his lonesome.

...possible, but not plausible or probable

He said, "Please help me I am being raised without a male figure in my life on purpose because my old lady cares only about her life and not mine".

Well there you have it. Being gay is being selfish. Conservatives have it all figured out.

Don't you think it is plausible that he told his mother that he wanted to tell Bachmann what he did but got scared at the last minute?

Agreed. I think the child was coached, so let's cut the BS. The mother used her kid as a pawn for her own selfish goals.

The hyperpartisan drivel in this thread is astounding.

Regardless of beliefs, you don't coach an innocent child and use him/her as a pawn.
