Students Uncover China Nuke Tunnels - Fox News Video - Fox News

A student researh project uncovers a bit more than they probably expected.

A vast 3000 mile underground chinese nuclear weapons complex that dwarfs the Great Wall.

They are now being accused of attempting to spark a US/China nuclear arms race.(by the left no doubt)

Let's see Russia and the US have had the capacity to annihilate the world for 60 years, asteroids and comets are ever a danger, an escaped bio-weapon of unimaginable virility could be exposed, a super solar flare could send us back to the dark ages by frying all electrical-magnetic components of our infrastructure or an economic catastrophe of monumental proportions could cause utter social collapse and the list of "how we go" is continually growing. My bag of "scary, scary" is over flowingly full. I think we're going to become so confused by all the political issues, until we start running down the street, buck naked wearing our undies on our head, singing "I'd like to be an Oscar Meyer weiner!"

by the left? who is questioning their motives?
The video mentioned that the students were being accused of attempting to incite a nuclear arms race.

My reference to the accusers being "the left" was an assumption on my part based on past observations.

the video mentioned no one in particular. so, you threw out a partisan assumption without any basis in fact.

welcome, grip. i have to say, this really does not concern me as i can't imagine our gov't didn't already know.

Where did by the left come in?

Being surprised that China has an amazing nuclear arsenal doesn't surprise me. To see them blow off international treaties doesn't surprise me. In whole...not surprised.

The idea that this would start an arms race when the US is spending more money on its military since WWII doesn't really jive.

Well then, I suppose we should just stop the practice of posting breaking news and all other information regarding world current events and close up shop here at DebatePolitics.

According to grip, we have apparently amassed enough likely disasters to satisfy our paranoia untill armagedden...Everybody have a nice life, however much is left of it anyway.

Correct, as I clearly stated in my 1st reply, my assumption was "based on past observations", not facts.

Explaining things to liberals is like explaining things to children...Repeticious!...Why do I waste my time?!

Here's more:

Well, frankly I think the assertion that they have more nukes than thought, is premature.

On Georgetown Team's China Claims: More Tunnels, Yes. More Nukes? Not Necessarily. - China Real Time Report - WSJ

However these tunnels are not without their fundamental flaw. Remember the axiom of General Patton that,
Who knows, you might be 100% correct America. The Fox video is all the information I have seen.

I thought if I posted the appetizer, the inquisitive minds at DP might scour the internet for the meat&potatoes.

Oh, I find the article interesting as info but not particularly concerned about China's military might. We have a hypersonic bomb that can reach any destination in less than an hour, probably even faster if that's all their reporting. By the time China, Russia or any ICBM launch can occur we'll be able to satellite photo it and choose to use Lasers from space or hypersonic flatten it on the platform. The next big cold War is financial, already under way and without borders and that's a little more likely to come with unforeseen consequences.

Of course it's hidden, that's what China does. How did these students discover the complex? (At work I can't see videos)
Just something else to divert our attention from the economy.

This is true coolwalker, but some of us have learned to subvert diversion by a little known tactic called multi-tasking...Quite affective...Google it.

"repeticious"? lol!

What's really funny is, in desperation, this is the best you could come up with after you spotted your error.

From my "come in and say hi" thread.
Im polite by nature and will generally respond to rude remarks, facetiously. I key fast and never waste time with Spell-Chek so kindly ignore the spelling and type-o's. Now, let's find out who among you can handle the cold hard facts of life and who prefers the lies of corrupt politicians and the smoke and mirrors of political correctness.
As you can see, I'm very aware of my weaknesses and never deny them and assume that anyone who never misspells most like uses Spell-Chek.

i'm sure your past observations were seen through colored lenses.
The loyal left concentrates their efforts blindly supporting, promoting and defending their party's policies and politicians.

I have no such loyalties to any party or politician, thus my efforts are dedicated to the truth regardless of who gets slammed.

It is you who must color your lenses liblady...Mine are crystal clear.

Thank you for admitting that it was complete and utter bull****. Not a lot of people are willing to admit when they're being a useless partisan hack.

How does "their party" relate to China and nukes?

You seem to think we don't understand what you're saying. We get the bull**** about your "past observations" about liberals. What we're trying to explain to YOU and that YOU don't seem to get is that your application of those observations to this situation is completely stupid.

They hid it in the 60's from satellite photos but infrared technology has since been created. I doubt they needed 3000 miles of tunnels just for nukes. It was probably to protect the govn officials and some civilians from severe fallout. The main thing is China has no intention on competing with us militarily, only in keeping a contingency force intact, especially for others. There are other controlling factors for sovereign strength, like natural resources (food, coal, oil, gas), commodities, connections, influence, technology, financing, information etc.

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. The only thing in your post that isn't completely wrong is the point about China's financial influence.

Here's a link to the article about our new "high speed" bomb. Wrong?

And you don't believe that the intelligence agencies have satellites spying on military installations almost continuously, really? And of course I had hoped anybody reading the part about taking a photo and destroying it before it launched would pick up on the "sarcastic exaggeration". Though I seriously doubt you can say with 100% certainty that we don't have computer controlled lasers mounted on satellites ready to obliterate all known missile locations at a moments notice? Unless you're connected to the highest levels of govn? Here's two more News based links for more of my "no idea what I'm talking about."

Infrared technology cannot see underground or through walls. It can only detect changes in heat.

Drives me crazy when people think infrared is like magical x-ray glasses.

Gill I've seen infrared thermal imaging from a military spy plane and it practically is like x-ray vision. You can make out shapes right thru the walls or ground. Drives me crazy when people talk before they've seen something new.

You are 1000 % wrong. Have you ever held an IR camera ??? Obviously not.

The ONLY way IR could see the bed in your photo is if it was hotter than the outside walls, a highly unlikely scenario.

Drives me crazy when people read too much science fiction and assume its true.

AND..... IR absolutely cannot see through glass as shown in your "photo".

i've looked through an ir lens at night into a sailboat quite far away.....it is like x-ray vision. very cool.
