In April, Pittsburgh radio host Mark Madden wrote a story revealing Penn State for much of the cover-up of Jerry Sandusky's alleged child rape that has been exposed in the past week. While it didn't raise many eyebrows back then, six months later it looks to be incredibly accurate.
On Thursday morning, just hours after legendary head coach Joe Paterno and university president Graham Spanier were fired by the school's board of trustees, Madden was asked on The Dennis and Callahan Show what he believes the next piece of news will be.
What he said was twice as shocking as anything that's been released thus far.
"I can give you a rumor and I can give you something I think might happen," Madden told John Dennis and Gerry Callahan. "I hear there's a rumor that there will be a more shocking development from the Second Mile Foundation -- and hold on to your stomachs, boys, this is gross, I will use the only language I can -- that Jerry Sandusky and Second Mile were pimping out young boys to rich donors. That was being investigated by two prominent columnists even as I speak."

I heard about this over the radio. Mark Madden is apparently a very credible reporter. Such people don't make these types of allegations lightly. If true, the **** that happened this week could be just the beginning, and frankly I'm sick of hearing about it.

I take the position that I do not know if there is or is not a Hell - if we are thinking of a Dante reverse amusement park here. I do know that any adult who sexually rapes a child under the age of twelve should have their genital areas introduced to one of those fast food plastic knives that can barely cut into a muffin. Is that cruel and unusual punishment? Not given the offense I would say.

Even though pedophiles are supposed to be somewhat rare, I'm starting to get the feeling that this isn't as rare as we think it is. I think we need to start doing some serious research into this disorder so actual treatment can be developed. This kind of stuff is sick and the only way to really eliminate it, I think, is to focus on finding ways to prevent these people from even having the thoughts and feelings that they have.

The broader issue of how rotten college sports is comes to a head with these incidents. If college sports is so completely corrupted that one of the previously most impeachable programs is the nexus of the most grotesque violations of human decency, the whole foundation of the NCAA needs to be smashed and a new entity entirely rebuilt.

The NCAA, it seems to me, is corrupted beyond repair.

But whether it's true or not, for what he's done already, I can only think of one remedy.

At the end of the day, it's all about the money, and it happens at the expense of the sport and the athletes themselves. The institutional corruption that exists there simply isn't something that can easily be eradicated, although it should.
