EXCLUSIVE: ACORN Playing Behind Scenes Role in 'Occupy' Movement

Actually they had a rally in Iran supporting the Occupy movement, so there ya go.

You can laugh things off all you want, but to deny reality is just ignorant.

Maybe they're tired of the rich running **** too.

Did you ever finish that research you were doing?
That's all you ever want to do, Mellie, is imply something sinister is happening. Your are a frighten lady that does know what you're talking about. You believe the crap that your hero - Glenn Beck - spews. That is simply amazing to me.

Why don't YOU do some research about how the crooks on Wall Street nearly brought this country to it's knees.

Pb, so your answer is "No, Josie. I'm not going to look any deeper than I have to into this. I want to remain as shallow as I possibly can. I agree with what I see on TV and that's all that matters!!"

All I asked is for you to look up the creator and editor of the Occupy Wall Street Journal and you just won't do it. You're refusing to learn. As a teacher and someone who LOVES learning new things, this baffles me. Perhaps we are not a good pair debating on this forum as you can't be bothered with facts. :peace

Get a clue Mellie, I don't give crap who was the creator and editor of the Occupy Wall Street Journal, I guarantee most of the protesters aren't protesting because of the freaking Occupy Wall Street Journal. Here is their problem:

The very rich are getting richer and everyone else is losing.

I heard when I clicked on the tube after work that "Occupiers" somewhere were actually singing, "We Shall Overcome."

Wasn't sure whether to puke or cry...so I just laughed and shook my head.

So a disband group ACORN is playing behind the scenes of OWS?

They were not disbanded at all. Some of their branches got shut down, but many simply changed their name. Its organization remains in a different form.

No, that was Working Families. Now we have two major organizations paying people to protest.

Working Families is a political offshoot of ACORN.

Soros -- check
Acorn -- check
unions -- check

Lets see what other boogiemen we can trot out.

Personally, I am waiting for the link to muslim jihadists.

ACORN, Soros, and several major unions (SEIU especially) are all tied up with each other so it really isn't necessary to put them on a check list.

My opinion on the current event is that the right-wingers are trying to stir up the ACORN bogeyman again because they're doing anything they can to discredit OWS.

You are implying there was ever something to discredit. The more I have looked into this movement the more obvious it becomes that this was never a grassroots movement in the first place. No one is hijacking it as some have claimed, just asserting the position of power that they already held over it.

They filed chapter 7 bankruptcy...

On March 22, 2010, National ACORN spokesman Kevin Whelan says the organization's board decided to close remaining state affiliates and field offices by April 1 because of falling revenues.

Except ACORN did not disband after said bankruptcy. Like I said, various state offices simply changed their names after the bankruptcy. They "closed" in the sense that basically someone took away the sign saying ACORN and replaced it with a different name.

So ACORN is around but they are not around?
Any proof of this?

So what, why do you care??

Google "ACORN rebrand" if you really are interested. It doesn't take much effort to find this out.

So what, why do you care??

Why do you care about the Koch brothers? Honestly, the only difference between my concerns and yours is that I object to any big interest manipulating the masses with faux "grassroots" movements. Some people only care about big interests when they are favoring the "other side" of the spectrum.

Is it any surprise that ACORN (or whatever names they go by now) is involved with OWS?

After all, they were instrumental in the housing bubble that did great damage to our economy. The OWS movement's ultimate goal is the end of capitalism so this is right up ACORN's alley.

Yeah, right. The Poorest Americans caused the housing bubble?:lamo

and another in rio

so, there you go

whatever that is supposed to mean

Yeah, right. The Poorest Americans caused the housing bubble?:lamo

The people in ACORN (or whatever names they go by now) are hardly "poor".

So a disband group ACORN is playing behind the scenes of OWS?

So some people who once were in the disband group ACORN are helping out OWS.... This is bad?

No, of course not. Any liberal/socialist should feel proud to be associated with the group.

ACORN leader avoids prison for voter fraud conspiracy | The Daily Caller

A Las Vegas judge has spared senior ACORN executive Amy Adele Busefink jail time for her role in a notorious voter fraud conspiracy.

Judge Donald Mosley sentenced Busefink to two years imprisonment but suspended the jail time provided that she abides by the terms of her probation. She was also fined a total of $4,000 and ordered to perform 100 hours of community service. Prosecutors had argued for a fine of just $1,000. Voter fraud, sometimes called electoral fraud, is a blanket term encompassing a host of election-related improprieties.

Nevada Judge Calls ACORN 'Reprehensible,' Slaps Group With Maximum Fine For Voter Fraud | Fox News

A Nevada judge on Wednesday gave ACORN, the defunct grass-roots community organization, the maximum fine for its illegal voter-registration scheme in that state.

District Court Judge Donald Mosley was blunt and unsparing in his criticism of the discredited activist group. Citing the long history of voter registration fraud allegations that engulfed ACORN across the country, he slapped the group with a $5,000 fine for violating Nevada election law during the 2008 presidential election.

If I had an individual in this courtroom...who was responsible for this kind of thing, I would put that person in prison for 10 years, hard time, and not think twice about it," he said. "To me this is reprehensible. This is the kind of thing you see in some banana republic, Uruguay or someplace, not in the United States."

They were convicted for this...
The group paid a bonus to workers to sign up 21 or more voters per shift, calling the program "21," or "Blackjack."

It is illegal in Nevada to pay bonuses to register voters.
While paying bonuses is illegal in Nevada, it isn't in other states. Not voter fraud - Lot's of allegations

I would be less proud of being associated with conservatives efforts to erect as many unnecessary hurdles for Americans (albeit a certain group of Americans) opportunity to actually vote.

Or such devious tactics as a David Koch founded group, Americans For Prosperity, sending out absentee ballots to Wisconsin Democratic voters with the deadline date being days AFTER the actual deadline date.
