Thomas Sowell: Herman Cain More Black Than Barack Obama

He's off the plantation. And, yeah, I guess the plantation extends to Hawaii.

Oh yeah. I forgot about the plantation.

I'm really sick of this idea that there's a "More black" or "Less Black" or "Real Black" person.

It's on the same level of stupidity as people who use the phrase "True American".

There's no such thing and there never will be and to use that phrase to describe oneself, or another person is simply moronic.

The Libbos always want a political race to have a racial component. Ya'll asked for it. Ya'll got it. Toyota.

God, who gives a ****. Wow conservatives are briefly supporting a black man. Pat yourselves on the back and move on.

Yeah, real blacks don't get raised in Hawaii among privelege.

This kid is trolling, right?

I've never seen Reg say if he considers himself Liberal or not, but he did start this topic and I do doubt he'd call himself a liberal. Actually frankly I can't think of any topics that were started by liberals about Obama's race, although I'm sure there are some.

The country was made to give a ****, when Obama showed up on the scene.

His avatar is Marc Levin, a notorious right-wing Conservative loudmouth.

Actually, Obama owes more to Republicans than to Democrats for his job. Before Obama, what African Americans did the Dems appoint to any important job in the federal government, but Reagan and Bush41 elevated Colin Powell to positions of power and prestige and Bush43 appointed Powell and Rice Secretaries of State, thus paving the way for an African American to be accepted as a legitimate candidate for the WH for the first time.

I'm not denying anything, I'm sure some people both liberal and conservative have started threads about Obama's race. But I don't care, like I don't care about this. I'm not denying anything, I'm saying I don't remember, as in I don't care enough to remember.

Read and understand what I say.

Jesus ****ing Christ are you kidding me? How about this for a theory, considering someone's race when deciding on an appointment, or who to vote for, is something NO ONE DOES. Racism, race consideration, is dead. Its a fringe feeling in society held by a tiny tiny few.

Lets stop talking about race like everyone walking around us is either a racist OR things someone's race is an important consideration. No one thinks like that.

Let me say this again: The Left has made race a political issue for decades. This is their creation. Live with it.

If we are talking decades are we going back to things like the Civil Rights movement? In that case I fully support making race a political issue, however that situation no longer exists.

Additionally, are you going to make a supportive argument, maybe provide some sources for your statements. Or are you just going to state them as if your opinion is fact? Its egotistical and petty, to think that all it takes to settle an issue is your word is extremely egotistical. No thats your opinion, not fact, and to have an intelligent or at least well formed opinion you need facts and arguments to back it up.

Now I can't speak for anyone other than myself, something I know you can't do because you constantly speak for others by lumping and generalizing them using terms like "The left" as if it has a clear meaning as to who belongs and doesn't belong. But anyway speaking for myself, race isn't an issue, I don't give a damn about it, its entirely meaningless to me. I don't care what color any President or Presidential candidate is, and since I don't have a personal stake in any candidate being elected, AND I have a little dignity about myself, I wouldn't seek to make race an issue in any political contest to get more votes.

The whole spot segment was contrived and in my opinion racist in nature. President Obama's skin color is black and considers himself black. Also, there is no gene for race. If Thomas Sowell is so intelligent, why does he engage is such racist talk? All three: Thomas Sowell, Herman Cain and President Obama are black. Neil Cavuto is a pig for bringing the subject of race up, but that's what they do on Fox.

Of course Cain is more black then Obama, his darker skin tone is obvious.

...And so Sowell has led us into the murky world of quadroons, octoroons, quintroons, and all the other subtle gradations of racial purity with subsequent denial of rights...

You're dreaming. During the Dem primary in 2008, just before the South Carolina primary, the polls showed Hillary had 45% of the black vote and Obama had 55%. Then Jim Clyburn called Bill Clinton a racist because of a harsh criticism of Obama's lack of experience and ever changing positions on the issues. The next polls showed Obama now had 95% of the black vote. It was at this point that the Dem super delegates, most of whom had been supporting Hillary, switched their support to Obama out of fear that the black vote might stay home if Hillary, now a racist in the minds of 95% of black voters, won the nomination. At this point, race became the determining factor in deciding who would run for President on the Dem ticket.

Did anyone else notice in the video that Sowell credited PUBLIC libraries and PUBLIC schools as being part of his early life success. Now those PUBLIC entities are being threatened by the Republicans in office with budget cuts.

Not saying Sowell is part of this group, but those that say they did it all without any PUBLIC help are only lying to themselves.

And Kennedy, who had a lot of power in the Democratic Party ushering delegates to vote for Obama had nothing to do with it either.

If petty things like genetics no longer matter does that mean I am just as black as Obama? It is not just that Obama lived a life of privilege unknown to most in the black community in this country, but also the fact that he is a mulatto raised almost entirely by the white members of his family in places that have hardly any people of Black African descent and his own Black African descent is from a Kenyan immigrant. The situation of the black community in this country is a relic of a system of literal slavery and subsequent racial oppression to which the half-white son of a largely absent Kenyan father has no connection.

What is more insulting than anything is acting like his success is an example of success for the rest of the black community in this country. Herman Cain winning would actually be a more positive affirment of progress towards racial equality and tolerance in this country. Not that I think he should become President for some transient reason like that.

That is just terribly naive. It is discouraged more for whites, but it still takes place with all groups with considerable frequency.

Dems elected relatively few African Americans until after the Bush presidents accustomed American voters to seeing African Americans in high office. In 2000, the early polls showed Republicans preferred Powell for the nomination by a large margin over all other candidates, but he decided not to run, and in 2004, there was a strong Draft Condi movement that lasted for months despite her repeated statements that she would not run. Democrats never took an African American seriously as a presidential candidate until after Republicans demonstrated real color blindness by appointing Powell and Rice to high office and trying to draft them to run for President.
