Westboro Baptist Church uses iPhone to announce plans to protest Jobs funeral

Sometimes I wonder if this is all just a giant gag to them.
 
No, but he was kept alive by buttloads of mid 20s liberals who wanted to be "fashionable" by drastically overpaying for slightly superior merchandise.
 
I don't see how the Westboro folks have enough time to attend Tea Party rallys and also protest funerals. Don't any of them have a job?

I've actually heard its just a fraud. Provoking people to assault them so they can be sued.

Several of the Westboro members are attorneys. This isn't a gag to them - it is a lucrative livelihood. They make millions suing people over violations of their rights.

I believe the court with jurisdiction should grant every single family of a deceased soldier who wishes it a restraining order against the members of Westboro Baptist Church so that the police would have a reason to remove them if the group disturbed a funeral. Westboro members would have to find another way to support themselves and the families would be spared having to deal with them. No family - regardless what the deceased has done - should have to bury their loved one amid taunting and protest.

I think people who engage in provoke and sue scams should lose their law licenses and not get squat in attorney fees from these frivolous provoke and sue law suits they file. These people are con artists, they are just a lower form of the ambulance chasers.

Perhaps a story should be leaked, stating that a funeral for a flamboyantly gay soldier would be held at the Fukushima nuclear plant...

They are complete assholes, but I'm pretty sure that they're just in it for the money. Many in the family are lawyers, and they make their livelihoods off of suing people who "violate their rights." Personally, I think they should be disbarred for their conduct of bringing frivolous lawsuits at taxpayer expense.

At this point, do these guys even have a message anymore? Their argument about Steve Jobs was that he did things that were secular in nature? Once your message becomes "everyone but us sucks", then you don't really have anything to say anymore.

From what I understand the just exercise their right to free speech until they piss someone off.

If I ever hear that they're gonna be in San Diego I think I might try to annoy THEM into assaulting ME.

My wife says I can be pretty annoying! And I certainly don't care about their feelings.

I'm also effectively unsueable, so that could be fun too!

I doubt they ever had any religious message. They are going to funerals and saying / displaying provocative things hoping to get someone to assault them or to get the police to violate their rights so they can make money.

It's funny. They complain about homosexuality yet they parade themselves around like a bunch of dicks... I don't know, I think a bunch of dicks holding wood (protester signs) is much more homosexual than a dead body :mrgreen:

I think this bunch loves the notoriety. It's a ka-ching for them and a total bonus. But I've heard that Fred Phelp spawn, the Roper woman who's an attorney, spouting her filth, and I think she means it.
