Several members of the group Veterans for Peace were escorted out of the Old South Meeting House in Boston Monday night after they attempted a citizen’s arrest of former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld.“I went down in front and looked Donald Rumsfeld in the eye and said, ‘I’m making a citizen’s arrest,’” protester Nate Goldschlag told WCVB-TV.
“He lied us into Iraq. He lied about weapons of mass destruction. He lied about Saddam Hussein being involved in 9/11.”
Three of the protesters removed from the event were with Veterans for Peace and a fourth was a member of Code Pink. One protester was arrested outside the event for allegedly using a bullhorn to assault a police officer.

Most of the 300 people who had to buy a copy of Rumsfeld’s book, “Known and Unknown,” to attend the event appeared to be fans.
“He’s one of the greatest Americans that has ever lived,” one woman said.
Watch this video from WCVB-TV, broadcast Sept. 26, 2011.

Another video is here and the link here: New Study: Blondes make men more dumb*|*Raw Replayell i support this. But this small band of protestors will get nothing done.
Freedom of speech.
I applaud them

It's admirable, but we don't hold politicians accountable for their actions less it involves some form of sexual deviancy.

I loved it. It was fun to watch the video. I loved it when Rumsfeld smiled broadly and waved goodbye as the people were escorted out of the building.

I have to say, impressed that they tried.

No such thing as bad PR: I didn't know he wrote a book - I just might buy it and read it.

The protesters bought it. They needed the book in order to get in. That makes this even richer. LOL!

Don't know if anyone is keeping up on what is happening on Wall Street right now, but people are making citizens arrests of police officers for assaulting nonviolent protesters. There have also been incidents of pepper spraying and assaults by police for videotaping police action.

I can't believe the mainstream media is not talking about this. Major stuff is going on there.

People need to start fighting back against power with impunity. People have a right to peaceful assembly without being jackbooted.

And so making 'citizens arrests' left and right is going to ensure the right to assemble peacefully?

They're not being peaceful - thus - they won't earn peace, they'll just earn and more harsh push-back from law and order. . . which I will support.

Protest with your voice and your vote - not with your hands and teeth.

You can certainly arrest a police officer who is assaulting someone without reasonable grounds. There is already evidence of unprovoked attacks happening. Most of the protesters and police officers are peaceful, but the bad apples should be taken down (on either side).

I enjoyed that. That old smelly-looking hippy with the pony tail sure was blinking alot while talking to the camera at 1:31'ish - isn't excessive blinking a sign of lying?

or it might mean that he is a woman.

Anyway, admirable that they tried.

Yeah, it just shows what an arrogant ass he is... He hides behind security and closed events so he doesn't have to actually face the hard questions or confront the controversies. He doesn't even appear to have a conscious about anything... He just looks like a ****ing coward and fraud.

Awwwwwww! Closed events? The protesters were admitted, weren't they? He doesn't have a "conscious?" You seem to be a tad upset. Didn't the big bad wolf bow and genuflect to your ideological brothers? And I love the profanity. It adds much to your credibility. Now, you have a nice evening.

You admire they tried. Tried what? To make an ass of themselves? Arrest Rummy because you don't like the man?

Brilliant.

The government gets to use hands and teeth, why not the People?

Tried to hold government accountable to their actions. But I guess for "conservatives" that only counts when trying to strike down liberal agendas.

Why do you insist on criminalizing policy differences?

Accountable for what? Dong things "you don't like"? **** son, Government might as well fold up now.

The government as it stands, the oligarchy created and corporate capitalist model which closes down economic movement...yes; that form of the government might as well fold up now. Maybe we can avoid over a DECADE of war by doing so.

I remember when no State building was a conservative ideal. Man, did they ever sell out.

Why do you insist on criminalizing policy differences?

I insist on criminalizing bad government which acts outside the boundaries of the Constitution and is unrestrained by the People.

Really? Perhaps you will join me then in calling for the elimination of every department and agency that is not explicitly called for in the US Constitution?

I wish you protesters and down-with-gov types would quit screwing up my gravy train.

Seriously, trying to cit-arrest Rumsfield? :lamo Ten points for style... minus several hundred for stupidity. Try to cit-arrest cops? Um yeah, rots of ruck with that.

I've got a decent job and a decent home and a decent life and don't really feel too oppressed mostly, so just leave me the frack alone and quit trying to bring the whole edifice down around our ears. Anarchy isn't the answer.

You hold the government accountable with your vote.

This could be a sign of the people getting sick enough of the government to make some drastic changes - hopefully at the ballot box instead of in-the-streets. If you don't think in-the-streets can happen in the US you'd better do some research on the civil rights movement and what ended the Vietnam war. It was intense and bloody. Any of the new crooners and rappers singing about injustice and revolutions these days?
