NC governor recommends suspending democracy to focus on jobs

Which is just spin to deny that you are actually wrong. Without demand there are no jobs. You cannot change this fact.
I have a dollar in my pocket. Did I just create a job? Of course not.

It is no wonder we are in such bad shape now.

In order for a business to survive and prosper, it must sell something to someone (or some group) profitably.

In order for this to happen, you need a few things:
1. Demand for whatever product and service the business provides (in other words, a market)
2. A business capable of producing whatever product and service profitably to meet this demand.

In other words, you need both supply and demand and both are necessary.

For example, I demand (in the economic sense) a device in my pocket that can replace my personal computer with enough storage, processing, graphics, available software, etc that I can use as a phone and a PC. The closest thing there is to this, that I am aware of, is the Motorola Atrix 4G Android Phone. However, what I want goes a bit further than current consumer technology seems to have available (The Atrix is a primitive version of what I want). Thus there is no supply to my demand, and there is no market (for me).

On the other hand, I get advertisements in the mail for all sorts of things I do not care about or want. We refer to this as junk mail. There is no demand here (for me). Thus there is no market.

It really is as simple as this, yet people in this thread are over complicating it for ideological reasons.

Moderator's Warning:
There's a thread in the Polls section discussing this very topic. Take the line of conversation there and lets stick to the narrow focus of the topic regarding the governors recommendation

Demand creates opportunity. Unless you can prove General Dynamics was set up, run and administered by the Government, guess what? All you have is a company that caters too a client, the client doesn't create the jobs. The company does.

By that logic, no client creates jobs, whether it is the government, a company, or an individual. Nevertheless, without the demand created by that client, who or whatever it is, there is no market and therefore no jobs.

I would like to meet the idiotic conservative who came up with this retarded meme. Tell that to, for example, General Dynamics and watch them laugh at you.

What is more amusing is you start citing examples of government creating useful jobs and these people just flee like it's the plague.

Socrates once said, a belief not examined is a belief not worth having. These people seem to have plenty of beliefs not worth having.

No, General Dynamics exists because private individuals put together a company, that found a market in providing for the US Military. Government didn't set up the company, Government didn't invest the capital to make it happen. GOVERNMENT didn't create the jobs. This is your fail Redress.

Did you actually argue that?

Without demand for GD's goods, there is no GD. Therefore, government spending has directly created jobs. Without the demand provided by the government, GD would be out of contracts, out of money and out of business.

So you actually fail. The government created the jobs by creating the demand in the same fashion that private citizens can create jobs by creating demand.

A company that wouldn't hire as many employees if their client wasn't the government.

Mr. V does not understand the concept of demand as evident by his posts. He apparently thinks that firms will create jobs in the absence of demand. Therefore, government cannot create jobs because the demand it creates is irrelevant to the function of firms hiring.

I did enjoy that job Ditto made about Mr. V being the Sarah Palin of this forum. So true.

She does have a point.
Congress is going to do what voters want them to do, especially during an election year.
When voters don't have a good understanding of the fundamental problems a government is creating, that spells all kinds of trouble.
I'd say she followed a few of our threads (and some of my ideas). House elections every two years are a tremendous waste. The consitution ought to be changed. Her failing isnt her comment (which people are free to have an honest disagreement about) but rather her punk-ass bailout on the comments, pretending...ooops...tee hee...I was just joking...sooooorrrrrryyyyyy...

Well, it is a part of his sig line!

Senators serve 6 year terms and most holding those offices are no more productive than the clowns in the House. As a matter of fact they are much worse. Reid and company haven't passed a budget in over 900 days. If we really wanted to reform DC we would limit the legislative calendar to three weeks. After four weeks the Senate and House office buildings are locked up and the political elites are told to go home and live with their constituents.

You mean like the single-payer healthcare system that didn't get passed in Congress?
Or the high-speed rail bill that hasn't been passed?
Or the legislation to fix the bridges, roads, and highways we already have that hasn't been passed either?

Please explain how Obama's policies have been an utter failure when Congress refuses to implement them.

Yeah and the stealfromus bills, QE 1 and 2, the drilling ban. Oh, wait, those did get implemented.

And this is what's WRNG with people like her. Government doesn't create jobs. Didn't the utter failure of the last few years of Obama's heavy push for "government stimulated" economy make that abundantly clear? And the concept of "suspending elections, just for a little bit..." What an atrociously BAD idea.

Good God!! Unbelievable that someone holding such an important office thinks that way. Gads, are we in trouble.

This is another way of her saying, "Congress won't do the right thing because they're too worried about being re-elected." Now THAT would have been a statement!

Cant blame them for their constituents insisting on sending them back over and over. My problem is with the two year repeat election cycles.
