Perry Sticking to His Guns on Social Security

Perry has Zero chance of winning in a general election. The GOP cannot win the Presidency without carying Florida. Perry stance on social security and medicare is going to kill any shot of him winning Florida and therefore kill any shot of the GOP recapturing the whitehouse.

God, how I hope Perry gets the nod over Romney!!!

He's talking a good game, but I'm still not convinced he's willing to WALK the talk on most of his Conservative ideas.

You should watch the video at the link, it's worth watching the whole thing.

I don't. If by some miracle, Republicans win the White House, I would much rather see Romney in there than Perry. That's the reason I plan on voting for Romney in the primary.

romney is much more likely to beat obama. vote for perry.

Romney is not at all likely to beat Obimbo. In fact, if he is the Republican candidate, he might finish THIRD in the election. There is no way on earth that anyone of even the slightest Conservative ilk would EVER vote for Mitt Romney. The Tea Partiers would take that entire portion of the party and walk away, permanently, leaving the Republican Party crippled.

I don't vote for the worst candidate of the opposition party, I vote for the one I like the best. Imagine if the worst of the GOP wins! Yikes. If my candidate loses, at least I get the best of the rest.

Me as well. However, I think Romney could very well win the General Election and I would rather have Obama. If Perry succeeds in taking out Romney, Obama is a shoo-in. Which is exactly why I hope that someone like Perry, Bachman or Palin wins the GOP nod. None of them can win in the GE.

and there's no way that seniors OR independents will vote for perry, especially once his "super governor" lies are exposed. and, as i mentioned, america doesn't want another shoot first ask questions later president.

What you are failing to understand is that it isn't the base that determines the general election....it is moderates and independents. Perry would definitely carry his base, but moderates and independents will never support Perry's extremist agenda.

romney would be my choice as well.........but i really don't believe anyone BUT romney (at this point) could take out obama. the gop field is pretty sad.

What you're failing to see is that many of us no longer look at elections as the means to change things. liblady might want to be more concerned about the "shoot first" mentality of her neighbors rather than the POTUS.

Well...that's good...as long as you recognize that you are conceding the Presidential election. What hope do you have of changing anything if you "stick to your guns" and go down in defeat? Perry can stick to his guns all that he wants and while he may gain the respect of the teabaggers, he will destroy any hope of the GOP regaining the whitehouse.

what exactly do you mean by that?

Sounds like extortion to me. Give me what I want politically or I will threaten violence against you.

I gave up on the GOP long ago after realizing that real change doesn't stand a chance in the party. I suggest conservatives and liberals alike consider voting for the real party of smaller government and personal freedom: the Libertarian Party... as long as you don't mind a rather dismal chance of success. The two party system's chokehold on US politics is the biggest problem IMHO. I just can't bring myself to vote for the lesser of two evils, as it is still by definition an endorsement of evil. My district is >85% Democrat anyway...

figures you won't come right out and say what you mean. that's the way cowards behave.

sounds a like threat to me.

No. More like a prediction. This country hasn't been "United" in a century and a half. Eventually that's going to lead some people to pick up their rifles and do something about it again. I get the feeling itjust might happen within my lifespan. Either that or we are going to end up with two countries on this land, like we should have in 1860.

as much as i would love to hear you expound on this, my bs quota for the day has been reached.

But they will vote for the RINO, Perry, and cripple the party anyways.

Agreed. The key to winning the Republican nomination is to be the craziest person in the field of candidates. Needless to say, this doesn't help much in the General election.

Hes not, hes full of it....this is just for the primary rhetoric....
