TPM2012 Michele Bachmann: Obama ‘Insulted’ Congress By Calling It A Political Circus

Re: TPM2012 Michele Bachmann: Obama ‘Insulted’ Congress By Calling It A Political Cir

Spend and borrow is not a sign of small government policy.

A politician that wants to have the most powerful, influential government on the planet is not a small government politician by any rational understanding of the term.

It’s as logical as calling Michelle Bachman a progressive.

So then what is a small govt politician?

You do have to admit that is a slightly oxymoronic statement, right?

Like a hunter pursuing shorter hunting seasons.

No. And your example is actually wrong. Hunters are all for conservation to prevent depletion.

The only problem is that politicians that don’t go along with the spend and borrow formula are less likely to be elected as they can’t buy votes.

Yes Michelle, with clowns like you in charge, it most certainly is a circus.

Wasn't that from Obama's speech calling for another multi megadollar "stimulus"? And all Bachmann could get out of it was that Chief Ringleader Obama insulted Congress by calling it what 90% of American voters already know it is, a circus?

Where are the clowns, there have to be clowns, no matter, they're here!

Re: TPM2012 Michele Bachmann: Obama ‘Insulted’ Congress By Calling It A Political Cir

Circular. You need to define "small govt"

Is it a govt with few (and how many is "few") employees? Less spending? Less power (and if so, which powers?), etc?

IMO, there are no "real" small govt politicians just as there are no "real" conservatives and no real "free markets". These are just terms rightwingers make up to rationalize their failures and their selfishness

Re: TPM2012 Michele Bachmann: Obama ‘Insulted’ Congress By Calling It A Political Cir

How about republican war mongerers who never served because they said they had "other priorities"?

Do you realize how one sided your comments are and that each one can be said about the other political view side?
If serving in the military is important, then Obama would never have been elected. Maybe we should make it a requirement to run for the Office of the President. That would change the field, and for the better.

Let's see.. President Kerry. President McCain. Yes, it would have changed the field no doubt. No president Reagan, president.. who?

That's a pretty hard position to stick up for when Congress Disapproval ratings are 88%...

Sorry, more of a generic slam against the political class in general.

Perhaps a hunter for the banning of all hunting would have been a better example.

Re: TPM2012 Michele Bachmann: Obama ‘Insulted’ Congress By Calling It A Political Cir

the executive branch too. I mean, our secretary of treasury was guilty of not paying his taxes. You would be hard pressed to find a more comical circus act then that!

Not really. Expats have this problem somewhat regularly. It has to deal with how the employer reports the income. Expats not declaring certain income and paying taxes on it is actually so common that all of the big four accounting firms have large departments designed specifically to deal with expatriot tax issues. It's that complex. So I'm willing to give Geithner a pass on this. I hear my firm's expat department is not a place you want to be.

we aren't talking about expats, we are talking about the secretary of treasurer. Its analogous to a nun getting pregnant.

furthermore, he knew of the back tax issue because he was informed of his non-compliance, and chose to not deal with it until after being named treasurer.

Re: TPM2012 Michele Bachmann: Obama ‘Insulted’ Congress By Calling It A Political Cir

I disagree with Bachman totally. It has been a circus. Nothing substantive gets done. Everything is political instead of making real attempts to fix the countries problems. The Republicans want Obama policies to fail so they will look better at election time. The "banksters" are still situated all over inside the gov't. Personally, I think we are in a 20 year depression with no viable solution and no real representation. It's all about money and corporations and screw the voter. You know, "business as usual." SOP. I'm still voting "Green", even if it's a wasted vote. You have to protest somewhere.

Re: TPM2012 Michele Bachmann: Obama ‘Insulted’ Congress By Calling It A Political Cir

Congress has even lower poll numbers than Obama so his only hope at reelection is to make this about him vs. congress, he damn sure can’t run on his record.

when Congress has a 12% approval rating, I'd say most Americans agree with the President on this one...stop whining about how "insulting" the "insult" was, because what really matters is that it's absolutely true.

No, we are talking about expats. Geithner's tax issue stems from his income as an expat. So having issues with declaring and paying income on expat income is hardly an uncommon thing.

furthermore, he knew of the back tax issue because he was informed of his non-compliance, and chose to not deal with it until after being named treasurer.

The whole damn government is a circus. With Clarence Thomas' wife, even the Supreme Court is getting in on it. I'd say get rid of them all, but it looks like the alternative for President may be giving one of those clowns a promotion.

Wake up genious.....

I love it when folks attempt to insult someone else by calling them a genius. And then they don't spell it properly!

You can't make this stuff up.

you are aware his non compliance was discovered in a routine audit? yes?

So I am assuming you aware that because of the audit, he payed the back taxes he owed from that audit.

but the problem is, the audit brought to his attention that the the entire time he worked at the IMF, he was not in compliance. But because the audit only was for certain years, he only was ordered to pay the taxes for those years.

He didn't pay for the other years non compliance, because it wasn't a part of the audit so he wasn't in jeopardy of legal trouble for not paying it.

isn't it funny how when he had an offer to be a public official, he quickly paid those other years? He wasn't under an audit, how in the world did he learn of it?
