Poll: 71% shun GOP handling of debt crisis

And if there isn't a denial by Dems and Reps, then I'm going to go ahead and say it's true. This is exactly how information of every negotiation first gets out to the public.

Democrats never claim he made a specific proposal, and Republicans claim he never made a specific proposal. his aids floated the idea that he might be thinking about offering an unspecified "something" that was "probably" to do with the rate of growth in benefits (the mildest of reforms) when it came to Social Security, but his left flank exploded an no actual proposal has been forthcoming. Instead they took cuts agreed on by the Biden group off the table and insisted that Republicans "buy them back" with tax increases.

 what a joke.

Nonsense..... Obama is holding folks hostage, this is not compromise.

Incumbants will suffer, all of them... Including Obama

Its the teaparty holding the country hostage...they DO NOT want to deal they just want what they want...and america is seeing what they are all about...tax cuts for the rich tax cuts for corporations they dont pay any and huge tax hikes on the middle class...pfffffffft.....they have exposed what they are all about

No america is hearing the spin from people like yourself who have no idea what the Tea Party is about, but just regurgitates political talking points they have heard. How many tea party meetings have you gone to? How many tea party members have you asked "What are you guys all about? Did you know a lot of people think your radical and racist?" How much valid policy (not political) information have your read on the Tea Party? My guess is 1.) None 2.) None and 3.) None and 4.) None.

How come no one from the Tea Party has the cojones to run for a public office as a Tea [strike]bagger[/strike] partier?

Perhaps because the Tea Party isn't a political party. Duh.

I think it's just this like this. an 's', not the whole word.

Democrats would never miss an opportunity to spend this nation into bankruptcy....

What this has to do with any point, escapes me however.

Republicans have spent a lot too... You really ****ing think this massive debt is all due to democrats?

Sure it is ... in some states anyway.

A Tea Party party registers in Florida - Ben Smith - POLITICO.com

They can easily register in all states if they so choose. So why don't they?

I suppose if it's not a party, Teabagger really is more appropriate than Teapartier.

Not in my state... perhaps you should ask the Republican who registered in Florida that question. Why don't socialists run as commie socialists instead of Democrats? Send me the memo when the Tea Party registers federally... or for that matter the social... er... liberals decide to run as socialists.

Exactly and Eric Cantor would shove a knife in the back of John Boehner if he could get away with it. Cantor wants to be Speaker very badly.

Ahh.. and what facts lead you to that conclusion then? Please post non media matter sources.

The thing that pisses me off about this thread and all threads like it is it shows how damn dysfunctional our government is. And instead of you guys demanding a government that works, the majority of you are playing into it and blaming each others party. This government is completely broken, this country is going down hill, if you want to blame the right person then you should all blame yourselves.

Why should I blame myself?

A thought just occurred after thinking about this for a while... seems the Florida Tea Party at the time also thought of it. Perhaps the person registering the Tea Party in Florida wasn't part of the movement at all... gee... a page right out of Alinsky's book there huh?

St. Petersburg Times said:
“The recent flurry of last minute filings by so –called “tea party candidates” looks awfully suspicious,” said GOP Chairman John Thrasher in a statement. “While a few tea-party candidates across the state do have ties to the tea party movement, in the majority of instances, it appears that the Democrats have coordinated a dishonest attempt to hide phony candidates behind the name “tea party” and to confuse voters who may be supportive of the tea party movement, effectively stealing votes from true conservative candidates and injuring the grassroots tea party movement as a whole.” The Florida tea party conspiracy theory | Florida politics blog: The Buzz | tampabay.com & St. Petersburg Times

Dishonest Democrats!!?? Paa-Shaw! Who ever heard of such a thing in politics.... [/sarcasm]

Nice... Obama's within 9% of Bush 43 in only 2 1/2 years.

Why would I care why Tea Partiers won't register in other states? The point is, they are a political party in Florida and can be anywhere. They choose not to be.

Why don't socialists run as commie socialists instead of Democrats?
Which Democrat is a member of the Socialist Party?

Ummm, Fred O'Neil is a registered Republican. :lamo

Seems you think he is a Republican pretending to be a Democrat pretending to be a Teabagger.

I suppose if it's not a party, Teabagger really is more appropriate than Teapartier.

Not really unless you don't actually have a dictionary or live within the world. I guess when someone says "Smith, party of 4, you're table is ready" they're actually talking about people running for office because apparently "party" only means in the political sense. I guess when someone is hosting a get together and saying there's a party at the park they're meaning there's some kind of officially recognized political organization that is putting forward party backed candidates having an event at the park. I guess the Boston Tea Partiers were running for state office as something akin to the Whigs or Tories.

Or perhaps "party" can mean things other than an officially endorsed political group that runs national campaigns with candidates under its banner.

Just like I'm a registered Democrat.

True, but again, those numbers exclude inflation.
Doesn't change the math. If Obama's 2 1/2 years are any indication of future performance of his last 1 1/2 years, Obama will be at 33.9% in 4 years compared to 34.2% for 'ol George W. Give Obama another 4 years starting in 2012 and we have a new spend / debt leader that kicks the crap out of 'ol George W.

Well, no, but then a party going to a restaurant is not running for office, yet the Tea Party is putting up candidates, as Republicans, to run for them.

I guess when someone is hosting a get together and saying there's a party at the park they're meaning there's some kind of officially recognized political organization that is putting forward party backed candidates having an event at the park.
Same as above, only in a park instead of a restaurant.

I guess the Boston Tea Partiers were running for state office as something akin to the Whigs or Tories.
I'm not familiar enough to know -- did participants of the Boston Tea Party call themselves Boston Tea Partiers?

Or perhaps "party" can mean things other than an officially endorsed political group that runs national campaigns with candidates under its banner.
I suppose. But when the term "party" is used in conjunction with politics, it's typically thought of as a political party.
