Chrysler UAW workers caught doping, drinking-----Again-----

No employers have rights..... They hire, they fire, they pay, they receive money....

Except Unions make those decisions when they infest.......especially in regards to the money they receive. Put the money in the bag or were gonna shut you down.......

Whats that supposed to mean?

That were going to need a bigger billboard......

Yep thats unions the mob.. You got it... Your so ignorant.. SO pathetically narrow view..

Well I was in The Union/The MOB in my younger days........but surely you know a lot more having never been in one.

The last factory I worked in(which rejected the UAW twice), people used to go and get stoned in the parking lot on break until finally the plant manager arrived way early one morning during our breaktime and saw them. it's not the union, it's where you can go that no one who will report you can see.
In this case, they went to Union headquarters parking lot.

Here's something to drink to.

:drink:

I agree with your first paragraph, but it's a bit more complex than just that. In any factory, we work with those people 8 + hours a day, and in fact see more of them than probably even our family. These are our friends, and if we report them, we are getting them fired. They are also the friends of many others in the factory, and snitches are not well treated by the friends of those snitched on.

The thing to remember is this has nothing to do with unions. It happens in most factories, the bigger the factory, the more likely it happens and generally the easier it is to get away with.

Let me ask.......would you let this guy work on your car..........

Maybe when your older, smarter and less liberal, ......when you and your family are out driving in your Chrysler mini-van.........the point your missing is going to slap you upside the head like a mini-van with no brakes or airbags.

Better yet, would anyone here buy a car knowing these guys helped put it together? No big deal, huh? :drink

I've had several American cars, and they were good vehicles. I still have my '98 Wrangler.

They have been comparable repairwise to any import I've owned.

I have made parts for several vehicles in factories, and I will never buy a car not made by Toyota. Their quality standards are massively higher than any other car maker. Last place I worked, every nontoyota line would reject painted pieces about .3 %, Toyota line rejected them at about 7 %. Despite this, Toyota rejected the parts we sent them at a rate over 3 times higher than the other auto makers. Thankfully this was just normal and not an indication of poor quality on our part.

I'm pretty sure that 's not quite true. In the end, all this comes down to is contract. Are you saying that workers should have no medium through which they can argue better compensation for their labor? It sounds like it to me.

Sure I would. Are you claiming that never before the advent of unions where people drinking on lunch breaks? We seemed to do ok. Now a business surely has right to argue employee conduct and get that into the contract as well. However, I think for this issue the people were caught and fired so I don't quite know why this is the issue that it is. Certainly there are businesses all across America which have employees that maybe not conduct themselves in the best manner and each of those companies have means to get rid of said workers if agreed to in the initial contract. I'm not sure what the beef here is. To me it seems more like people who have a political agenda against unions running their mouths against unions. And while they have that right, the biased nature of their opinion makes it so I don't have to give credence to their claims.

No in the end it comes down to the threat of a strike........the threat to do financial harm and perhaps destroy to the very company that employs them.

Which is why its best to catch the Union infection early before it spreads........and eliminate it with extreme prejudice.

Yeah Its called my desk.....if you feel your not being treated fairly sit down and tell me about it. Dont send a bunch of liberal union goons in to make demands and threats........

Freedom of choice and association. I'm sorry if that interferes with your profit margin. People like you claim to be about personal liberties yet you'll vehemently oppose the rights of individuals when it threatens the all-important interests of the company.

Well it isnt the right of the individual you seem to support..........it is the rights and whims of THE MOB..........

Our tax dollars hard at work..........in a UAW Union Hall Parking lot to boot
A drop in the proverbial bucket compared to the financial sector bailouts.

Our bankrupt grandchildren's grandchildren will be so happy we bailed out the bloated salaries, gold plated health care, and diamond inlayed pensions of these UAW Union Slobs.
Not as happy as bailing out greedy CEOs with million dollar mansions and a mistress or two on the side.

Built With Union Pride.....and a few beers and joints.
Ruined with corporate greed....and celebrated with Ecstasy and stripper poles.

Shouldn't the business owners have the freedom, to not associate with people who want to form unions?

I think this "news" story is dumb, but that freedom of association goes both ways.

Less so with the employer as the employee. If I want a job and dont want to belong to the union I shouldn't be forced to associate with those I'd rather not.

In the middle of Dearborn, Michigan, the Ford Motor Company has several high rise glass towers which house thousands of white collar office workers who manage the company and perform the administrative work necessary to operate. There are many restaurants and bars located near those facilities which cater to the FoMoCo suits. You can go into many of them on a work day during lunch and see the suits eating lunch and many consume several alcoholic drinks with their meal.

Of course, they are not unionized, so the fact that they are doing this does not make the news.

Oh my god! Dont tell me people use drugs and drink on a lunch break!

I don't know if this has been brought up elsewhere in this thread, but I'm sure that corporate executives never hook up important clients with high-end booze, coke, and hookers in order to get consideration for contracts.

The only difference between them and the overpaid executives of major corporations is... they got caught and don't have power and wealth to keep it hushed.

Platinum/Palladium health care, check
Bloated salaries, check
Bloated and wholly undeserved bonuses, check
Pensions for three years of service, that aren't touched (looted) during mergers, check
Largely responsible for the mess we're in now..... CHECK!

After the way the executives of this country have royally bent the middle class over the barrel... I don't blame them for feeling like they need mother's little helpers to get through the day.

Funny how what used to be a bloated hourly wage now barely pays the essentials for a family of four.

I'd be willing to bet that if you took chem samples of every executive office, you'd find a shocking number with some drug residue or another... and certain that the old boys have a fifth of fine hooch in the credenza... They are not responsible for building an engine, but in responsibly managing globally interconnected finances... nothing gets you drunk faster than power...

BM, you've really got to move out of that glass house of yours. Doesn't seem like there could be a single pain of glass left unbroken...

Ahh... didn't see this... that's what I get for not reading the whole thread...

cheers! you said it much more succinctly than I...

Why are these people the ONLY people who ever get 'busted' for doing this when A LOT of companies and government employees DO EXACTLY THIS on their breaks - shoot - at their desks?

I am only an advocate for private and public workers and welfare recipients being drug tested only when corporate executives and elected politicians are required to be drug tested as well.

this is called "selective outrage" on badmutha's part....he saw a chance to trash a union, and ran with it, nothing more.

That and they probably arent running massive industrial equipment in their offices.......putting the lives of their coworkers at risk.

..........but clearly......Two Wrongs make it a UAW Right.
