Chrysler UAW workers caught doping, drinking -- again

The Fox TV station in Detroit has again caught on video Chrysler union workers smoking dope and drinking before work and on their lunch break.

This time it was not in a public park, but in the parking lot of their nearby United Auto Workers union hall, before they headed back to finish their shift at Chrysler Group's Trenton engine plant that builds the new Fiat 4-cylinder for world use

Our bankrupt grandchildren's grandchildren will be so happy we bailed out the bloated salaries, gold plated health care, and diamond inlayed pensions of these UAW Union Slobs............

Built With Union Pride.....and a few beers and joints........

I've had beer and wine at lunch with those high level staff you’re writing about in the US and Europe. But it wasn’t typical behavior for me, but for some others it was. I remember when we started drug testing. It chased out some high level staff from our division. They started up their own consulting company, at first working mostly for us. Their business was growing a few years later when our division was shrinking dramatically. The only place I recall that we didn't drink at lunch was Taiwan.

In no way would I condone or approve..........

.........but Im betting you werent running major industrial machinery after your wine break.........

Oh my god! Dont tell me people use drugs and drink on a lunch break!
Are people really that out of touch with reality? Is this the first time you heard of people drinking or using drugs on the job?
I dont condone this but whats the point of this? What is your point? Is this supposed to make look unions bad all in all? Should we get rid of unions because of this?
What i think is that this people should have a serious talking to....
But seriously try to undermine the unions with this? Pathetic.

I call it......"And this is why these drunk and stoned UAW slobs wont get fired"...........

Can we then infer from your post, Badmutha, that non-union workers, Wall Street honchos and bailed out capitalists don't drink and dope on the job?

I call it......"And this is why these drunk and stoned UAW slobs wont get fired"...........
This is what i call being ignorant: Find a very small portion of a group of people doing something they are not supposed to do, then generalize that small portion and fit it around the bigger portion and say they all do this and in this case are "stoned UAW slobs" and try to make a point by this.

Never said it wasnt a "big deal" i was just saying you trying to promote a anti labor point of this is pathetic.

You can infer......that my Grandchildren's Grandchildren want their money back.......and any non-union slob would have been fired on the spot.

These "union members" were fired. And its from your video you posted...
Followup: Chrysler fires 13 workers involved in drinking on the job, suspends two

What makes you think that these guys wont get fired... Is it because they are "union slobs"?

Do you honestly believe.......that no other UAW BEER AND POT JAMBOREES took place during the year span between reports?

Do you honestly believe.....that the Union heads and heavys had no idea this was going on?..........right outside in the UAW Parking lot?

The only ones getting fired are the ones lucky enough to have had some airtime.......protecting union slobbery......shielding union incompetence and corruption.........is the job Unions are here to do.

Have a question?
How is this relevant?
Why does this matter?

Do you honestly believe.....
Also, stop with the ****ing periods. Its not necessary.

I dont know?
Do you know?
If they were caught they are probably going to be fired like last time...

The only ones getting fired are the ones lucky enough to have had some airtime....
You know this how?
Do you go to employment lineup and keep track?
Because normally when people get fired they dont tell media outlets and everyday people...

You trying to make this a union issue and try to undermine all union members because of this is just pathetic and i hope you see how big of a pathetic fool you are making yourself look like.

Dem Socialist beat me to the punch. Looks as if your shallow reasoning and the anecdotal justification for your jaded political position was ah, shallow.

Apparently Fox Detroit should do all the hiring and firing for Chrysler............

"Jamboree"? Is this supposed to be a party? Because the Tea Party Jamboree here in KC got canceled.
But it didnt look like a "jamboree" to me. Looked like a couple guys having a beer or something and im sure they are going to be canceled. Im also sure more than just union members use drugs and alcohol. Im guessing its also a very small number do it also. But im also sure if they got caught like these men did then they will be fired as well.

So tell me whats your point in this?

Sleep easy knowing that "very small number" are hopefully back to work....building cars for your future children.....the UAW wouldnt have it any other way.

Do you see the point or will a larger billboard be required?

-chuckles- not sure what his point is ... but I'm confused .. aren't you one of the people that condemn the entire tea party movement because of the actions of a few ?? without any proof that it was more then one or two caught on film ???

Bottom line here boys... is that anyone, in any private or public job who, during lunch goes out and boozes it up should be identified by their co-workers and either put into a substance abuse program or outright fired. The guy in the video who drank before work and stumbles through the front door who's had a suspended drivers license since 1999? Yeah, that guy's an alcoholic and should not be part of any manufacturing of anything that goes into the public. That opens up Chrysler to major law suits.

However the bigger issue here is, Chrysler says they have a Code of Conduct policy - yet, for some reason at this Trenton plant the people who tipped off the local Fox Channel apparently either didn't report it internally or, perhaps they did and nothing happened, or they were afraid to report it because they are fellow Union members. Therefore they felt it necessary to tip off the media who exposes these dumbasses so they get caught and fired. Why isn't this handled internally? And yes, someone somewhere in many corporations / jobs are using and abusing - however they don't all seem to congregate in some local open area to do it where camera's can expose them.

Chrysler has to clean up their act and take care of this issue internally with their union... it's embarrassing and the optics clearly go negative where Chrysler is concerned when addicts are shown to work and abuse day after day at their own UAW local.... very embarrassing and incompetent.

Thanks for responding. Where I worked we had high level architecture, design, marketing, sales, and we had manufacturing that used large dangerous sophisticated computer controlled machines and hand assembly. So drugs including alcohol could be a problem. So the company was considering starting drug testing. As a manager, I thought this would be stupid since employment should be based on performance and performance is easily evaluated. I expressed my views, dangerous. (In fact there are small keyboard at the door evaluation of an employee that can be implemented, that functions better for the company than drug testing.) Weeks later drug testing was implemented. I had to go to training on how to explain to my group how good this was going to be. During the training the pro drug testing managers were pro because they didn’t like the sinful drug culture, others like me just cared about performance. So there were basically three types: 1) Those that didn’t think it would work and would be a waste. 2) Those that wanted to stop the sinfulness. 3) And a few that thought it would work. Note, ‘beer’ was not tested for. The company that sold the testing to our company, claiming lower costs, higher productivity, etc., etc. started the testing. Several high level engineers resigned and formed a consulting firm before testing began and we hired them at effectively higher pay than they were getting. My boss tested positive for the prescription drugs he needed. He was tested over and over for this reason. It’s very embarrassing to be pulled from a meeting to have to go pee in a way to verify that it was fresh pee. However, we were to get a report about how much performance improved and how much money was saved in 6 months, etc. Nothing was ever provided about how much drug testing improved our company. After about a year and a half drug testing was stopped. No reason ever given. My guess was that it was too expensive to catch sinners. This was especially obvious when some of the sinners were consultants sitting in the next office.
BTY, worker bees and managers below the rank of VP had exactly the same health insurance. Above VP the official answer on health insurance was that they had exactly the same health insurance. Not exactly a lie, just obfuscation, since they also had an additional separate health policy that gave the gold plating that you mentioned. Get it, the same policy. The additional gold one is never to be mentioned.

So, Badmutha, what is your personal experience with gold plated insurance and drugs, alcohol etc., in the workplace?

Well, Although I don't own my company, I do work from home, and my HQ are far, far away. That said, I do drink, and I smoke a little pot once in a while, but I absolutely do not do it on the job, EVER!

Tim-
