Breaking: Obama Warns Cantor 'Don't Call My Bluff' As Debt Talks Stall

It wasn't "threats", it was the honest reality. The Republicans are willing to hold the elderly and the disabled hostage in order to protect the pockets of the wealthiest. It should be clear to everyone which party represents which interests.

Wrong it is a threat Obama will not do because it would cost him the election.

We are here because of out of control spending from Obama and the democrats. THE PEOPLE KNOW THIS!!!

Not to mention that Republicans were willing to lose our credit rating, shake the world markets - wait, maybe not that one. Maybe once it became obvious that this could actually adversely affect THEIR wealth, the rusty wheels finally started turning.

It is Obama that has put us here not the GOP

Sorry Rev.....I mean...Reverend Hellh0und.....you call it hysterics, the rest of it call it reality. The GOP refuses to cut the military and plays the fear card whenever it is proposed and yet, the military eats up over 50% of the total budget. So, you can't balance the budget on spending cuts alone....THAT is just the simple reality. But the GOP cannot stomach the thoughts of their millionaire and billionaire cohorts cutting back on their caviar and truffles....and they are willing to hold seniors, the disabled and the entire middle class hostage to ensure that they won't have to.

How much will Obama cut this year?

It is Obama that has put us here not the GOP
ummmm...no...that is incorrect, both repubs and dems have had a hand in it...we have known for a long time that judgement day was coming, and both have kicked the can down the road, and as soon as the hyperpartisians on both sides realize this, the quicker we can solve the problem.

:caution: PARTISAN HACKERY ADVISORY :caution:

It is becoming more and more clear every day which party represents the middle class, the elderly, etc.....and who represents the interests of the wealthy. It isn't about talking points, it is about the facts and they are crystal clear.

It is not the spend spend spend Obama

Well Zyph...you would be correct, except for the fact that you are wrong. Sorry....

These Republicans that you say "compromised" by raising the debt limit are the same Republicans who have had no issue raising the debt limit many times, oh....except now I guess it is different somehow that the President doesn't have an (R) after his name?

The reality is, it isn't a "compromise" to say "We'll agree to raise the debt limit, but you have to do it our way and we will hold the American middle class, including the elderly hostage unless you agree to our demands. That's just a line of BS.

You can't agree to come to the table and then childishly refuse to talk unless you are the only ones allowed to propose the agenda. Sorry....that's not "compromise".

I hope that the teabaggers in the GOP have their way and push the GOP to their extremist agenda. The GOP will pay the price and I for one are hoping that they succeed.

Every democrat including Obama voted against raising the debt ceiling in 2006

U.S. Senate: Legislation & Records Home > Votes > Roll Call Vote

 you're really one to talk about addressing questions and posts from others

Need I remind you of your episode of blatant hypocrisy? The point is, forget about it.

No the Left need to answer questions not run away

Wrong the out of control spending of Obama has put us here now.

um, no...a good chunk of this problem is a republican thing....quit the partisian hackery, and admit the truth to yourself, the quicker you, and the rest of the country do this, the quicker we solve this.

I vacillate between knowing we're done here, and having a fatalistic sense of peace about it, and being so very, very angry.

So in your world the USA did not begin until Jan 20 of 2009?

interesting.

It should be fair to say that a new leadership team were put in place Jan 2009. So it is fair to look at how well they are doing with the problems that brought them to office. You may admit that economy falling off a cliff in September all but ended the election.

If someone in the business world said blame the guy before me 30 months into his rein, he (she) would be out on their butt.

Inorite!? Because paper-pushing is just like running a country.

It wasn't just Bush. The mess this nation is in has been building for decades. Wearing blinders doesn't eradicate that fact.

Just trying to illustrate that it gets tiresome to hear someone blame the last guy. Even in your partisan statement you mention that this mess has been going on you decades. I agree. But that hurts the narrative of let's blame Bush ( who I thought was an idiot and never voted for).

Do I expect that the president could have totally fixed our problems in 30 months, no. Do I think that we could be on a path to a sustainable better economic future, yes.

That is correct but not putting the current stagnation on the current administration isn't going to eradicate our current problems either. The moves made by this administration to get the economy going have been largely a failure.

History will treat many of those who made similiarly bad decisions in the past poorly, but they are now unable to make up for their errors.

I agree completely. Honestly, people of this sort almost make me hypocritically want to remove their free speech, because they really don't need it, and abuse it so much, the Founding Fathers are turning over in their graves.

Let me put this out there for everyone, EVERY Founding Father would hate the far-right of today.

I just showed how most of it happened since the democrats took control. We would not be here if Obama would cut spending and the democrats would do the pay go they claimed they wanted.

Ine question for Obama. How much money does he need to win the election? That is what this is about Obama needs more money to buy votes.

I don't agree --- their views at the time were very conservative, much more so than today. But let's just assume you're correct --- the founders would hate the far-left just as much.

Given his personality, and his accidental admittance it is a "Bluff", I'd call.

I never said they wouldn't, and don't assume I would've said they wouldn't.

I hate having to constantly criticize both sides whenever one side does something stupid...it seems like such a waste of time to me and gets really redundant.

Where is the damage in stopping the wars? Paying Pakistan? (I could go on longer)

It is not necessary (or wise) to cripple the world economy to stop the wars or discontinue the tax cuts to the wealthiest Americans.
