Glenn Beck Moves to Dallas, Texas

So you have no proof. Didn't think so. Don't you HONESTLY think if that was really happening the media who haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate Glenn Beck would've maybe reported on that?

You choose to be willfully blind. Why would I make such things up? I know how Glenn Beck acted, because I know people from Wilmington and he isn't a local hero.

Beck followers descend on Wilmington

Meet and Greet Tickets Mellie.... He charged people to meet him, including locals. If you had a Clinton County Driver's license you didn't get a free handshake, a book, or a hello. If his recruiters didn't stake you out and approve you, he didn't stop in your business. The guy made more money from Wilmington than he actually donated, and you act like this man can do no wrong. He was even caught lying about Wilmington and saying the town didn't take federal money.

You're blind Mellie. You challenged me from proof, I challenge you to actually visit Wilmington sometime and learn what local people actually think of him.

You're being dishonest, SheWolf. The $500 was a meet and greet package that included meeting Glenn, breakfast with Glenn, a photo with Glenn and a ticket to the radio show. This was a special package which included several events and items. This is a charity event. Celebrities do this kind of thing all the time.....for CHARITY. Get it?

You implied that if anyone wanted to even LOOK at Glenn Beck, they had to give him money. That's entirely untrue.

I would love to visit Wilmington. I actually am friends with someone who was there that weekend so I'll ask him about this as well.

I'm curious as to how much you say Glenn made from this trip.....seems to me like he donated it all to the town. Maybe you have a Media Matters article about that too....

It's not just a dry heat in Dallas. It can be quite humid there as well. The only time its a dry heat is when they have not hard rain for weeks and all the moisture has been boiled up out of the air. It is not uncommon for heat indexes there to exceed 115. The humidity is not as bad in Dallas as it is in Houston, but the summers in Dallas are far worse than they are in the southeast (other than central and southern Arkansas and Memphis).

Look at all these horrible celebrities charging money to talk to them....

charitybuzz | Celebrity

$10,000 to golf with Morgan Freeman? Estimated value - $75K? Why can't he just meet people for free? Such a hater.

Meet Selena Gomez backstage for $3,750? How rude that she won't do that for free.

Meeting Samuel L. Jackson starts at $1,000? Gosh....he's getting rich off of people. Evil.

$250 is the starting bid to meet Joy Behar? Why doesn't she sit down and talk to everyone who comes to her show?

You see, SheWolf. Celebrities raise money for charity by selling meetings with them and tickets to their shows. It's not evil, it's not rude, it's not greed.....it's GOOD. They're doing it for CHARITY. And so was Glenn. Your blind hatred for this man is juvenile.

He was there to sell his book, Broke, he's a carnival barker there to make money.

Was he? I watched the show and I heard nothing about him pushing his book on people. Perhaps you, who didn't watch it, know more than I.

It's totally not fair that he can talk like a crazy person and live in that huge ass mansion, while other similarly crazy people have to settle for a corner in the subway, or a box in an ally :2razz:

Some people have to settle for a corner in the subway or a box in an ally because they are lazy and don't want to do anything about it. It's funny though..... only the hard left sees this and complain about it while the people that actually line in a box some here or live in a corner in the subway DON'T and perhaps the reason that they don't is because they feel that the rich nor the government DON'T owe them a living.

you complain about such things ?? what force involved ?? Did anyone pay a red cent that they didn't want to ? Did the city benefit by having Beck appear? From everything I can find out .. they did .. But in the next breath you give Obama a pass for skipping out on talks of the debt cieling to go to fund raisers where people are expected to pay 100 dollars to hear him speak ??

I'm not compaining, just pointing out to Beck's devoted followers that he's not a altruistic as he appears to be on radio and tv - he's there to make a buck, millions of them in fact and I have no problem with that either.

I still don't know why his moving to Dallas Texas is Breaking News. I've gotten gigs for posting things in BN more worthy that this.

I've heard that both Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck are really nice, good guys in real life. Tis a shame that that's not what they'll be remembered for.

I actually got to play golf one time with Rush … I can tell you this .. first .. he is a very giving person of himself .. his time .. and his money …....but ….. he is the most opinionated egotistical person I have ever met ..

I don't know anything about Beck ..... other then what little you get to read about him..... but I have the opinion that he really loves this country .. and wants it to be the great nation it once was ... not saying that is right .. just saying it's my opinion of him.

As long as he's out of New York, that's fine with me.

I hope he starts wearing a cowboy hat all the time.

Those are pretty much for day laborers, at least when it comes to wearing one all the time. Boots are another matter, and judging by the crap he's had to wade through in NY, I assume he already has a pair or two.

I would imagine that Limbaugh's ex-wives would disagree with that assessment.

He didn't do a single thing for a local... He didn't take a photo with a local, shake a hand with a local, or give an autograph to a local that didn't pay him.

If you wanted to meet Glenn Beck you had to pay... The only people who paid that money were his fans, including his local fans. If you weren't a Glenn Beck fan or a local fan and were just an average resident of Wilmington, Ohio, the event didn't involve you. It was like a bunch of Beck fans threw a party in Wilmington.

Beck wasn't open to meeting anybody that didn't pay him 500 dollars, and the fact is, local residents had to pay up too. I know a somebody who did pay, and he works for the sheriff. The event was supposed to be for Wilmington, yet the event attracted NOBODY but Beck's fans. He wasn't reachable, he wasn't touchable, he visited no local businesses that his recruiters didn't scout out and approve to fit the image Beck wanted his show to broadcast..

It was bull**** to think he crossed party lines. The entire thing was pure bull****, and it was about Beck and his fans, not the people of Wilmington.

He didn't do a single thing for a local that didn't pay or wasn't scouted out.

And then on top of that, of all the money he charged people and selling out the Murphy, he donated a small sum considering the ticket sales and meet and greets.

If you add up the revenue from Beck's three Murphy Theater events, he sold approximately $300,000 worth of tickets. Specifically, the taping of Beck's TV show sold out, generating nearly $100,000 in sales.

If all of that money, or virtually all of it, had gone directly to local charities than I could kind of understand why Fox News allowed one of its hosts to charge $125 for tickets to a taping. (i.e. It's all going to a good cause.) But we now know most of the money from those $125 tickets did not go to local charities.

Last week, we found out that from the estimated $300,000 raised from Wilmington ticket sales, Beck donated a grand total of $44,000 to local charities. So where did the remaining $256,000 go?

It was a stunt, Mellie... He isn't a local hero in Wilmington.

Yeah, I heard his meet and greets were more like book signings.

Yeah - I can't take the word of an ex. Especially not a bitter one. Two sides to every story, and the truth lies somewhere in the middle.

Ahh yes, he MUST be lying, New Yorkers are quite and meek folks, not often seen calling out. :ssst:

Again, do you have any evidence other than word of mouth that this story is true or false? Obviously coming from a renowned truth teller like Beck, it's true. The tea drinking is strong in you.

True, but when your on your third wife, the truth generally lies much closer to the ex.

I've heard the same about both men as well. I think they both get a bad rap in the media because the media tries to smear anyone with whom they disagree.

They get a bad rap in the media because they go on the air and act like morons.
