Religious Leader Shoots 4 Year Old Boy To Death Because He Might Be Gay

Egaddds a four year old was cold bloodily murdered. WTF is there to be partisan about????

It won't be long before this clown will be a, "bible thumper", from the, "religious right".

A few salient facts:

Religious extremism is at the heart of this sad story. The children were home schooled. Neighbors ignored them. This took place in North Carolina, the current subject of a social agenda campaign against the LGBT community. A same-sex marriage equality ban may be on the 2012 ballot.

Good thing they have their priorities in order.

“In the religious belief of that organization, homosexuality was frowned on,” Cline [the DA] said. Huh? That better not be allowed in court.

“Investigators think some of those involved in the deaths were members of a religious sect known as the Black Hebrews, which believes it descends directly from the ancient tribes of Israel,” the Republic stated.

Extremism is extremism and is only wrong on days of the week that end in 'Y'.

Somebody directed my attention to the 2nd and 3rd hackings in this thread and after that, I can't comment. GOOD SHOW!

Annnnnnd, what religion would that be?

I mean, if this cat turns out to be Muslim, that will spell the end of this thread.

It says "Black Hebrews", which I assume meant they were black and considered themselves some version of Hebrew.... though I imagine most practicing Jews would rightfully demur any connection.

People who aren't too tightly wrapped to start with, tend to gravitate to exteme fringe movements and use them as a justification for their bad behavior. Not uncommonly, this ends in tragedy of some kind or other, as it did here.

I am ashamed that so many chose to turn this to partisanship before we even knew any details.

Another horrific example of how twisted people can become in order to rationalize such unthinkable brutality. My heart goes out to that poor child, and the woman who was cruelly tortured and executed.

It's always sad when they get children mixed up in it... and it's also sad that he held them captive and the woman escaped. She was brave for doing it too, unfortunately the people she talked too didn't call the police. :(

Thats pretty ****ed up. Although since im against the death penalty in almost all cases I dont think they should be put to death.

The guys is a psycho. I doubt he can be rehabilitated and if he his a threat to society, then I'd support it. I hate the death penalty too... and I am kind of leaning towards no for this guy, but he needs to have a trial first and consider all the facts.

Im sure he cant be rehabilitated. My objection to the death penalty has to do with other things then that but thats another discussion.

Killing a four year old is death penalty material in my opinion. I know the laws are more complex than that, but I don't always agree with the law.

Im just not for our government putting people to death is all. Just my opinion.

Horrible. Also horrible that when the woman sought help from a neighbor she was ignored and written off as a nutjob. Maybe someday we as a society in general will stop turning away from things like this and step up to the plate once in a while.

I cried when I read this story last night, but as inevitably happens in cases such as this, I realize he was set free from a hellish existence.

Of course, my second thought is that the bastard who did this must die.

Yeah, I think with cases like this it's easy to say that we should have the death penalty because the evidence is staggering. But in general, I'm against the death penalty and would rather see this man thrown into jail for life without parole. The use of the death penalty has negative consequences when aggregated to the level of the United States. Not all cases are clear cut and we know that innocent people end up on death row and sometimes executed. And that's the failure mode of the death penalty, it's the death of innocents. So in that light, I think it's best to not have it or at least do it like it's done in CO where the evidence necessary to get a death conviction is well and above that even necessary for a standard conviction.
