We have more important things to worry about.

There's no way that she will get the nom.

BREAKING: Bachmann pledges to ban pornography | ThinkProgress

Bachmann became the first presidential candidate to sign a pledge created by THE FAMiLY LEADER, an influential social-conservative group in Iowa. By signing the pledge Bachmann “vows” to “uphold the institution of marriage as only between one man and one woman” by committing herself to 14 specifics steps. The ninth step calls for the banning of “all forms” of pornography. The pledge also states that homosexuality is both a choice and a health risk. You can read all the details of the pledge here.

My wife won't let me have it in the house, anyway, so what's the difference? Heck, my wife could be running for President.

Sounds like that's an issue for YOU and YOU alone. I assume you agree with Ms. Bachmann?

It's another thing that doesn't concern me as it's not something that can be done.

The difference is your wife isn't trying to stop everyone else in the neighbourhood having it too.

correct! this is mere pandering to the fundie base, however, would you vote for someone that wants to take away this form of "entertainment?

"from my cold dead hands"

"I want my candidacy for the presidency to stand for the moment when "we the people" reclaimed our independence from a government that has gotten too big, spends too much and has taken away too much of our liberty."

- Michele Bachmann's presidential campaign launch

This is my problem with conservatives. They say they're for less government involvement, but they're really just for less government involvement in areas they don't like.

What is almost worse is that the pledge states that homosexuality is a choice but more importantly it is a health risk... and as we all know health risks can be fought by banning or putting limitations on it.

She basically signed on to put homosexuals in camps and put pink stars on their cloths. The Nazi's used the exact same excuse on homosexuals.

The ninth step does not call for the banning of all pornography. Actually click all the links until you reach the PDF of the actual document. It reads differently to me.

The whole thing sounds nutty to me but that doesn't mean we can lie and say it calls for the banning of pornography.

"Humane protection of women and the innocent fruit of conjugal intimacy :)lol:) -our next generation of American children- from human trafficking, sexual slavery....all forms of pornography and prostitution....blah blah.

Sounds like they want to ban it.

I have no plans on voting for her.

He's right that it doesn't explicitly mention banning it. But it does at the very least call for more "protection" from it or controls on it (and again, that's just at a minimum)...which, as I said in my previous post, is more government intervention from a candidate built on the idea that government intervention is inherently bad.

Sort of like trying the dictate to others what they can eat while pigging out on the very same stuff you are saying is bad? (this is not a defense of Bachmann)

Exactly, the pledge sounds loony which is right up bat**** crazy bachman's lane, I just don't think we have to misrepresent what it says to make her look bad. She does a good job of that already.

You consider they lump porn in with sexual slavery, it sounds like they may want to ban it.

BTW, who here thinks that whoever typed up this "pledge" has a massive stash of porn hidden either in the closet or on his computer?

I think that's a good question for someone to ask her. Lets see if she wants to ban it or not.

Yeah I mean she has introduced what.....80 maybe 90 pieces of legislation that Ban Pornography..........during her House career.........

"We have more important things to worry about."

Clearly........its why you and those hacks at Think Progress took the time to manipulate and report it........

Give me a ****ing break. Michelle Obama eating a cheeseburger at a Super Bowl party does not mean she cannot promote healthier eating and exercise habits for children. Her message is not that you cannot eat a cheeseburger or hot dog, ever. It's about controlling your portions, eating other healthier things more often, eating less healthy things in moderation, exercising, etc.

That is another topic for another thread if you'd like to make it. But to compare the two is pretty laughable.

Bachmann is doing what every politician does during election season --- pandering to specific voter blocks. Obama did it, GW Bush did it, and probably every Presidential hopeful has done it for a very long time. This is "business as usual", though I see why my Progressive buddies want to have a mouth foaming moment to make a splash.

"support human protection of women and the innocent fruit of conjugal intimacy” and protect them from “seduction into promiscuity and all forms of pornography…and other types of coercion or stolen innocence"

....somehow equates banning Pornography.....according to the "Jounalists" over at Think Democrat.

Suggesting better eating habits is a far cry from "dictating" what you can eat. Get real dude.

And as we have seen this pledge doesn't call for banning porn. I don't wish to make this about those who wish to control our lives in areas other than porn but much of that seems to be supported by those who would have a tizzy here.

It wasn't long ago that it was the left claiming that porn was bad for women.
