"My favorite?" Obama said. "Oh, this is a tough one. "It is tough, you know, because if I say something not healthy, people will be, like, you aren't really committed to health. If I say something healthy, you know -- I do -- honestly, I like all kinds of foods."

Obama mentioned Indian food, and then Mexican food, and then said: "No, if I picked one favorite, favorite food, it's French fries." The audience began to laugh. "Okay? It's French fries," Obama continued. "I can't stop eating them." As the students laughed more, the First Lady quickly returned to her role as advocate of health eating. "But eat your vegetables," she said, to still more laughs. "And exercise."

... is there anything more to add to this?

Technically she is incorrect because french fries are potatoes with are a vegetable. However, in her defense, potatoes are the nutritional equivalent of high carb foods like breads and cereals. They don't provide the nutritional value associated with other vegetables like broccoli and spinach which contain good quantities of vitamins and minerals.

...the more you know!!! :)

She should be impeached for this faux pas!

More to add? You didn't say anything in the first place.

She has GOT to stop being so transparent.

I need more coffee. :coffeepap

I wonder if the French Fries are cooked in EVOO.

I didn't have too.

"Do as I say, not as I do."

But I guess you're trained to accept that so you don't "get" the thread. You Boo and BDBoop, all well trained to just do as you're told by people that don't live as they demand you do.

And you're perfect. No weaknesses. You put your mind to it, and you do it. You don't have cravings. Right? /scoff

LOL

She's smart, though - She knows my type well, she knows we're like vipers in the grass - "It is tough, you know, because if I say something not healthy, people will be, like, you aren't really committed to health. If I say something healthy, you know -- I do -- honestly, I like all kinds of foods."

But here here - I love french fries, too - and chocolate and all sorts of other stuff. . . . I eat them sparingly becaue I know they're bad for me.

 I don't blame her.

But the irony is humerous RE a post a few weeks ago where I called her 'the last person to take healthy-advice from' and someone jumped my **** for it.

You know what's funny - I didn't have cravings as a teen. I was skinny as a rail. all foods were DISGUSTING. I hated eating - the act of chewing and swallowing was very hard for me to do. . . for years and years - even as a little kid eating wasn't a thrill. It was mechanical - necessity - I ate because if I didn't I'd get sent to bed early.

The first thing I ever remember wanting to consume was coffee with 3 T of sugar in it - age 16

Actually you misremembered how it happened, since you called her fat.

There is nothing inherently bad about having a junk food that you enjoy. As long as you eat a decent diet and moderate your junk food, you will be fine and healthy. There is also no inherent irony, since she was asked her favorite food, not the healthy food.

What is inherently bad is stupid **** like this thread. Nothing so stupid you can't use it to attack the Obama's.

You, like most Americans, do not seem to grasp the idea of something being "okay in moderation". I doubt you'll ever find a quote of Michelle Obama saying you cannot eat french fries.

Is it really that slow that your quest to attack Obama for something yielded this? Seriously?

You don't see me running around pushing for children to eat only what I think they should, pushing for regulations, laws and programs to force people to adhere to what I say... (while I'm chowing down of burgers, ice cream and what not).

I have no quest to attack Obama, nice try though, please post again when you've decided to be relevant.

Yeah, I still don't see the point.

And therefore I refer you back to my point. She is human. She eats. Sometimes not right. She owns it. That's what we adults do. You attack her. Strange, that.

I'm pretty sure if you asked George Bush, he'd tell you that you should eat your broccoli. Ideally, at least.

Well how else can you have your boiler maker unless you eat your broccoli?

this has to be the dumbest thread in the world.
