Two gay men forced to leave a government recreational facility in Hazard, KY

Truth be told I was riffing off of one of Pil Henry's characters...

I want his job so bad.

No, I didn't report ya. If I did the mods would laugh their asses off. All the things they overlook that I say...

Now that you mention it, CT . . .

Skip it.

What would you have done, if you had been there?

I would have gotten my supervisor so I had a witness, approached the men and kindly informed them of the rules of the pool. I then would have explained the rules to the caregivers and waited until I had seen the care givers explain the rules. I would explain that if they persisted then I would have to ask them to leave. If they had a grievance I would kindly provide them with the information to file a grievance and I would record the incident for when it was investigated and have my supervisor sign off on it.

That is, of course, assuming that the rules are enforced uniformly and that the men were acting more inappropriately than the average heterosexual couple at the pool.

I have a boyfriend and we are faithful to each other.

Also I wouldn't hook up with someone who was developmentally disabled. If I want that level of conversation I come here to talk to you.

Wise move. Proper handling.

Well you can't really expect true professionalism from an employee at a public city pool in Kentucky. I feel for the man. This has certainly been blown quite out of proportion. This is like going down to a sewer and expecting to never see a turd.

I'm sure he has his local defenders. I don't feel sorry for him, but I don't think he should have lost his job, as some have suggested.

His supervisor apparently has quite the temper, too.

But I wasn't there.

This has called to mind an incident that occurred at my junior high school in the mid 1970s. Our school had a large class of mentally challenged students (maybe it was a district center for them, now that I think of it.) One afternoon, between classes, two of these female special-ed students began kissing one another full on the mouth, and obviously found it enjoyable.

By appearance and demeanor, both girls were known to be severely handicapped. Their actions caused several students to stop and comment. Some jeered, some egged them on. It appeared to me they were being ridiculed, though they seemed oblivious to it. They were not more than 14 or 15 and I assume each was experiencing their first kiss. This was not a gay rights stance, it was childhood sexual curiosity being satisfied publicly.

I wonder if the same, or similar, wasn't the case here, and if so, where was the caregiver? She's been quite vocal about denouncing how the pool attendant handled things, but what was she doing in her own capacity to maintain control of those she was supervising?

Good question.

Ooooohhhh buuuuurrrrnnn

I wonder what I would have done in Kim's place. Maybe tossed them a beach ball. I really don't know. If they were truly, for lack of a better term, retarded, or obviously "special" (and I mean no insult - I'm just not sure how to describe them) I like to think I could have approached their caregiver and suggested maybe she intervene in what might become an awkward distraction.

I don't know. I would like to read the city attorney's report, but I can't find it. (I haven't looked for it since yesterday tho and there seems to be more reportage today.)

I would have asked their opinion on my wife's new bathing suit.. :)

Tim-

Seriously though I know some straight sluts from Hazard...

ummm.... what happens after caution and warning aren't heeded?

You DO realize there are MILLIONS of people who ignore warnings right?

And if it actually is applied fairly and they actually had warnings, you're absolutely right and this was correct.

Considering we have no evidence of that being the case and its entirely conjecture at this point, with no stories saying they'd been warned before, its not really seeming like the case here at this point and time with the facts as we currently know them.
