House Dems to call for expiration of Bush tax rates in debt-limit deal

I'm not debating this based on value. I'm simply talking about the fact that we are all Americans. We should all be faced with the same burden for our country and to keep our country operating. If we do not like where our money is going, then you can complain to politicians and fight for lower spending and thus lower taxes. But that doesn't change the fact that it is not fair if the Americans who have more money have less of a burden than the Americans who have less money. We all should be faced with the same burden and that's it.

Here ya go.How about $2.8 trillion offset.Thata work.:2wave:

<A group of House Democrats is calling for any deal to raise the debt ceiling to bring about the end of the Bush tax rates for the wealthy.>

<“At this point, both government and private-sector economists agree that sharp immediate cuts in government spending risk plunging our economy into a double-dip recession that will cost further jobs and ultimately worsen our fiscal situation,” the lawmakers wrote in a letter obtained by The Hill.>

<They added that allowing the Bush tax rates for the wealthiest to expire at the end of next year would by itself “stop the growth of the deficit over the next decade.” >

House Dems to call for expiration of Bush tax rates in debt-limit deal - The Hill's On The Money

Huh...and here I thought the Bush Tax limits expired already and we now have the Democrat Tax Limits in place...

I hope they get it. I am eager for the coming revolution.

Wow, they might raise taxes to the same levels they were at under the Clinton administration. That is totally something to revolt over.

Were you paying attention? There was this thing called a midterm election.

No because it's not the same benefit. You are DESTROYING someone making 20k a year by taking 8k from them, and you are doing absolutely NOTHING to someone making 20 million a year by taking 8k from them. What does where it is written matter? And they are not paying more. They are simply paying the same thing and having the same burden. We've gone over this already in other topics.
Or as Karl put it, "From each according to his abilities. To each according to his needs."
It is a very popular thing to want someone else to pay for the stuff you want but cannot quite figure out how to pay for yourself. Thank goodness there are politicians who will bridge the gap so that you need not mug me directly.

Aaaaaaanndd...democrats voted for a tax package and President Obama signed it. They own it. Deal with it.

Question for the righties who constantly demagogue the issue of taxation by claiming it is marxist, socialist or communistic: given that taxes go back some 5,000 years to the Egyptians and marxism and socialism are relatively modern developments , whom did your far right wing ancestors demonize before the cry of "marxist" came along?

its very simple: if the GOP expects the middle-class to suffer in terms of budget cuts, lower pension benefits, and loss of collective bargaining rights..than the wealthy have to sacrifice too....buy paying a little more in taxes.

or should the poor and middle class bare ALL the burden of reducing the deficit?

but too many people aren't burdened. they get money from the government. They get their citizenship dues paid for by others

given the top one percent are paying 40% of the income taxes and almost all the death taxes I'd say there are other groups who need to pick up some of the slack

whom did your far right wing ancestors demonize before the cry of "marxist" came along?

No one. RUSH wasn't around to inform them who to demonize.Musta been sad all that hate bottled up like that.:(

So tell us Turtle , given that taxation goes back some 5,000 years to at least the Egyptians, who did your right wing ancestors demonize when the government collected taxes? What names did you call them before Karl Marx would write his book over 4,800 years later?

Kinda looks like Robert Reich has it figured out and it only took a couple of minutes. Makes you wonder why some of our politicians cant figure this one out eh?:2wave:

Thank goodness I no longer feel the need to respond to every inane comment.

Question for the liberals. How did your ancestors survive before Government came along and redistributed OPM to you ?

Except those "rosey" projections of economic gain never come to fruition. What happens is the "wealthy" look for ways to avoid the taxes, and revenue, and investments slow. Only in lala land does raising taxes in an economic challenged time seem like a bright idea.

Or in 1993.

Reich is so full of ****. Forget that the bottom 47% pay zero income tax. Never mentions it. Forget that we pay folks for close to 3 years to not work (get what you pay for Bobby). Forget that when marginal rates were higher, there were so many loopholes, that the net taxes paid (all aspects) was lower than it is now. Forget that with such as NAFTA etc., we can't compete, in large part because unions ****ed it all up so bad. Never mentions a word.

Bobby is all "blame the rich". Same liberal BS. Different day.

quote Eighty Deuce

Reich is so full of ****. Forget that the bottom 47% pay zero income tax.
You sure have winger talking points down pat don’t you?

According to CBO data, 10 percent of all households pay no net federal taxes. Besides the 47 percent figure you’re quoting is an anomaly that reflects unique circumstances of 2009.

Is your Faux outrage limited to the poor or is it also directed at the two thirds of corporations that pay no taxes as well? Remember, thanks to our activist Supreme, Corporations(Citizens United) are people too.

Forget that we pay folks for close to 3 years to not work (get what you pay for Bobby).

Yet during Reagan terms we paid people 3.5 years of unemployment, Ford 3.2 years, george the second, it was 3 years. Were you this outraged then?

Forget that when marginal rates were higher, there were so many loopholes, that the net taxes paid (all aspects) was lower than it is now.

The federal tax rate, is the lowest it’s been in 60 years.

Forget that with such as NAFTA etc., we can't compete, in large part because unions ****ed it all up so bad.

We can’t competes with sweatshops in china, India, or wherever the multinationals can find that they can pay children as young as seven or eight years old to make their widgets. Thanks to both parties for this gift.

You sure have winger talking points down pat don’t you? ..........

As you set the tone, it would seem you have stupidity down pat. ;)

I addressed Reich. You snipe.

47% of households in Amerca pay no Federal Income Tax. It is not an anomaly.

One more stupid snipe comeback like that and you go to Ignore, and deservedly so.

Wow, you only see what you want to see, doncha?

Did you have to get your keyboard drunk first before you pulled that line out? Seriously? It was the Bush tax cuts when Bush was president...its the Obama tax Cuts now. He signed it...he owns it. The unwillingness of some of y'all to acknowledge that dems are as worthless and corrupt as republicans is staggering. Talk about your massive denial...
