Wisconsin Unions Disrupt Special Olympics Ceremony

I'll admit, I don't really know how to respond to the reaction here. It's like I posted Nancy Pelosi beating a three year old and the response was the three year old shouldn't have gotten in her way.

I would just add, that even the union group that these people were supposed to be representing have distanced themselves from the protestors and where they decided to protest. That should give you a pretty good idea how most people feel about the subject, not withstanding the reaction in this thread.

You struggle with a very simple analogy. Try again :)

Your supposed analogy was about the size of your crap. That speaks volumes about you. volumes ... hey thats funny.

I believe we are thinking alike here, but for reasoned speculation I will throw out there the question of whether the union group is distancing itself because it actually disagrees with the actions of the protestors, or the negative public reaction to actions of the protestors.

Being as the event that day was a known address to the Special Olympians, to assume anything but the latter is to be grossly naive, IMMHO

Apparently, you will always struggle.

I would agree. My guess is that they were probably on board with the protest. Once they saw the negative reaction, they had to go into damage control.

Good thing a union leader wasn't there with his Downs' Syndrome daughter. I'm sure anti-union thugs would have harangued him from the time he set foot on the grounds.

Really. Really. Poor taste.

Because nothing says "classy" like protesting a bunch of special needs children,

Yeah, expect that they weren't protesting a bunch of special needs children.

and trying to take away their day.

You mean like cutting the budget for the care of disabled children or cutting the budget for special education?

Fred Phelps isnt protesting military funerals, so you are in good company.

Interesting - measuring your value as a person my measuring your crap. Is that some sort of right wing rubric?

The credibility of the left is gone. They are so partisan they defend scumbags that interrupt special needs. this not defensible and shows the left is a disgusting bunch of immoral spoiled brats that care nothing about anything except their selfish agenda

The left even call historians liars because they can never admit Palin is right . The partisanship on the left so extreme they are a lost cause/ Wait no they are just far out in left field they are lost

No it is about the Special Needs people and how they were showed no respect

I think the showed plenty of respect. They came and left didnt say a word.

You're most likely correct, considering the union paid for the makeup and shirts.

It took away the respect and praise the Special Needs people were supposed to get.

Instead they could not even see the Governor who was honoring them.

Shows what scumbags unions are
could not see the governor...who was there for a photo op, a little good press.....hmmmmmmm....you are mad at the protestors because you don't like the message, but are you ok with the governor using the special olympics as a platform for a quick photo op, a way to generate a little good press for himself?

please cite your evidence that this was nothing more than a photo op for the governor. Credible sources, links, etc.

He is a politician, who has been under fire for months, who is going to be recalled, who badly needs some good publicity....common sense man, common sense, and politicians of all stripes do this..it is like shaking hands and kissing babys while you campaign...trying to make yourself look good.

 way to go, unions! way to stick it to the man!!!

Heard about this yesterday on the O Reily Factor. The man was interrupted by people dressed up as zombies. There is no proof whatsoever that these people are a part of unions or that it was organized by unions. Please stop the accusations until you have proof.

acceptable to crash the Special Olympics

Do you guys even know what Special Olympics are? Give ya a hint, they're similar to a big event with a similar name held every four years around the globe. They're typically held in a stadium AND they are definitely NOT held on Capitol building steps.

NO ONE crashed, interrupted or protested the Special Olympics.

NO ONE crashed, interrupted or protested the Special Olympics.

If you read, it was a Special Olympics "Ceremony". Attended by Special Olympians and their families.

I see your post as nothing but a red-herring deflection away from the scumbaggery of the union protestors.

The union paid for the shirts and makup the protestors were wearing.
Wisconsin Protesters Target Special Olympics Ceremony - FoxNews.com

Where does your article say that 'the union' paid for shirts and makeup? What union?

Even your Fox News article said the protest appeared to be unrelated to the ongoing fight over union rights at the state Capitol, though they cleverly interjected the "rowdy demonstrations", "paralyzed Wisconsin's government" and "Senate Democrats fled to Illinois" for no apparent reason. Was it subliminal to get some to tie the union protests to this event. Apparently it worked on some.

These were University of Wisconsin students, NOT union protestors.

And yes there were a few union sign bearers at the rear and these union protestors have been at the state Capitol for a while. They didn't disrupt anyone or anything.

i believe it was already brought up, and i watched the video, where is the proof that this was a 'union' protest?

Correct. They crashed, interrupted and protested at ceremony to honor the Special Olympians, like the title of the video posted earlier said.

Also already brought up. Go back and actually read the thread. Especially the parts where it shows that the union paid for the tshirts and zombie makeup.

You must have skipped the 3rd paragraph...
Yet the protest on Wednesday appeared to be unrelated. Earlier in the day, a statewide student organization held what it calls an educational event on the opposite side of the Capitol on a new voter ID law that it says will make it harder for students to vote. The United Council of UW Students provided zombie makeup and T-shirts that read, "Students are as good as dead."

But it was NOT the Special Olympics. It was a red-herring appeal to sympathy.
