Huckabee Opts Against 2012 White House Bid

thaaaaaaaat's a little spooky.

Only if you honestly believe that Obama thinks he is god. If you think that, I question your metal capacity.

God? no. But I do think he is a bit narcissistic. This is the man who wrote two autobiographies before he was 40, and assured nervous Democrats that the mere magical power of his presence would keep them from recieving a shellacking in 2010 like they had in 1994. Remember how "this is the hour that the sick began to get healed, that the oceans stopped their rise" etc?

Hard to see how he wouldn't be, honestly, given the cult of personality that sprang up around him. You can only be surrounded by that stuff for so long before you begin to internalize it.

I mean, rolling down that list of indicators I can think of specific instances to match many of them.

Obama was simply following all the 48 Laws of Power. I actually find it interesting that republicans didn't call him on it. Oh wait that would be bad for them as well.

responding angrily to reporters asking something other than soft-ball questions is one of the 48 laws of power?

even the press corps (Obama's base) is complaining about this white house being the touchiest since Nixon.

making predictions based upon false assumptions of your awesome powers is one of the 48 laws of power? Gitmo still open? Democrats do alright in 2010?

I expect the majority of people running for presidente of the US of A is going to be a bit narcissistic

Or delusional, but as Obama won the election lets go with narcissistic.

You dont stand up in front of hundreds of millions of people and proclaim I want to be your leader if you think you are not better then the nearly everybody. Considering it is one of the most difficult jobs to get in the world.

Who's Mitch Romany?
Also read post #18 and also go to link. Cain has lots of experience working with politicians. He's just never been corrupted by them or held elected office.
here's more on Cain. Click link to find out the details. Very interesting bio.

Herman Cain: Biography from Answers.com

Here's an interesting tidbit. lots more on the site

I think you should ask some strangers if they've ever heard of Herman Cain. I would bet that somewhere between 80-90% of the voting public have never heard of him at this point.

I was talking about his campaign, which is what I thought you were talking about. But even some of the hostile actions hes commited is part of the 48 Laws of Power. Maybe you should read it.

Bush H.W. I don't think was.

nah. I'm pretty sure once I turn 35 I'll be having to explain to both parties why I can only allow one of them to nominate me for President, and so they 're going to have to play rock paper scissors..... :D

yup. which probably isn't that far off from Obama's numbers around the same time frame. Charismatic Candidates can often make up for their lack of experience and name-recognition with powerful performance.

Having been raised by a narcissist, I'm gonna go with "try again."

Bush H.W. I don't think was.
GHWB was an intelligent skilled individual laid low by a poor economy and a small man from Texas ( who was narcissistic). Perhaps the best president for the last 50 years. He certainly had economic down better then his son or his boss during 1980-1988

Believing that you're better than others

probably a check, but no information

Fantasizing about power, success and attractiveness

check

Exaggerating your achievements or talents

check

Expecting constant praise and admiration

check

Believing that you're special and acting accordingly

check

Failing to recognize other people's emotions and feelings

check

Expecting others to go along with your ideas and plans

check

Taking advantage of others

not a check

Expressing disdain for those you feel are inferior

check

Being jealous of others

not a check

Believing that others are jealous of you

probably a check, but not enough information

Trouble keeping healthy relationships

not a check. this is one of Obama's strongest points with me - he and Michelle are obviously very devoted to each other and their girls.

Setting unrealistic goals

check

Being easily hurt and rejected

check

Having a fragile self-esteem

this is pretty much the same thing as above, but check

Don't see how it's a check, since he actually did it as opposed to fantasizing about it.

if you read his biographies (of which I will fully admit i have not read the whole pieces - only skimmed through in a bookstore for an hour or so), he is very candid that the search for power and the desire for power is what drove him to go to Harvard. that's why I put it as a check.

Okay, I held off as long as I could.

It would appear that you believe that the President suffers from a mental illness. Correct?

I don't know if I would call it a mental illness. I would definitely call him self-absorbed and haughty, and I would probably call him narcisistic. The man constantly talks about himself, and he constantly talks about himself in a way that is laudatory beyond reality. I don't know if I would say it pushes into mental illness territory - he is far too high functioning for that.

But it is a weakness. And one I hope someone much smarter than I is planning to exploit in 2012.

I am glad that Huckabee is not running, he is as phony as a not two, but a three dollar bill. This man will tell you anything you want to hear. He should of been a car salesman.

I have never Obama say he was "the decider" like President Bush did.

True. But that's a description of the job, not the man. Obama is also "the decider" (at least, when he finally gets around to it) - it's why he deserves the credit he does for the OBL raid. However, Bush also never claimed that his mere nomination was enough to cause the oceans to cease their rise.

But Bush did believe he was ordained by Jesus to be president.

Let's stop trying to diagnose presidential candidates with psychological disorders.

I think we can all agree that in order to want to be president badly enough to go through everything it takes to get there, you have to have some serious insecurities going on.

Huh? I would think the opposite would be true.

You wonder why, the Rep Party ain't worth a bucket of skim piss

Hopefully the GOP takes the time to un-**** themselves and actually become conservative again, and start listening to us on the issues we want fixed IE: border control, tax reform etc...

GOP has nobody to blame but themselves; they ignored the base, became fiscally irresponsible, and grew the government. And they wonder why the base became pissed...

For the first time since you came to this forum, I fully agree with you. Your post was intelligently thought out, and pointed out the obvious that many still refuse to see. Good job. However, once those who hijacked the Tea Party movement go down in flames, then the true grass roots Tea Partiers can rise from the ashes and assume their rightful place in the debate over America's future direction.

I tried telling this to a tea party activist and simply said "no no no." It amazing how entrenched the social right is with the tea party and repubs.

Mike Huckabee will not run for president, and as a former candidate for public office I fully understand what he is doing. He feels he has a better chance to make a difference doing what he is dong.
I applaud his decision and the reasons .

So do I. When he made the announcement, I thought, "Thank God." I was certain he was going to run, which would've caused me to question the guy's judgment. He's too honest, old, and wise to submit himself to such futile torture. He had no chance of winning. He made the right decision. I like him more now than ever.
