Honestly, I support President Obama in witholding the images of Osama bin Laden. To reiterate something a teacher of mine said that I absolutely agree with, I see this act as a very unfortunate happening and a sign of American weakness. We portray ourselves as some great world power, and yet we spend over a decade looking for one man, and when we find him, we merely kill him.
I realize that what Osama bin Laden did was cruel, and that his death is very symbolic. Nonetheless, I don't think this is something for anyone to be proud of. We shouldn't be having parties about the death Osama bin Laden any more than we did for the victims of 9/11. We should be reflecting on what we are as a nation, and take a moment to realize that there really are no positives to this.
The victims of 9/11 are dead. The man responsible for those deaths is dead. Now, the Taliban is retaliating and more innocent lives will likely be taken. Is this a good image to you? Because I certainly don't see anything positive in this.
