In the raid they had two teams, one to bury Bin Laden in the event he was killed and another in the event he was captured. President Obama wanted extra force in case they met resistance from the Pakistani military...

WASHINGTON — President Obama insisted that the assault force hunting down Osama bin Laden last week be large enough to fight its way out of Pakistan if confronted by hostile local police officers and troops, senior administration and military officials said Monday.

In revealing additional details about planning for the mission, senior officials also said that two teams of specialists were on standby: One to bury Bin Laden if he was killed, and a second composed of lawyers, interrogators and translators in case he was captured alive. That team was set to meet aboard a Navy ship, most likely the aircraft carrier Carl Vinson in the North Arabian Sea.

Mr. Obama’s decision to increase the size of the force sent into Pakistan shows that he was willing to risk a military confrontation with a close ally in order to capture or kill the leader of Al Qaeda.

Such a fight would have set off an even larger breach with the Pakistanis than has taken place since officials in Islamabad learned that helicopters filled with members of a Navy Seals team had flown undetected into one of their cities, and burst into a compound where Bin Laden was hiding. ...

The SEAL are not to be messed with unless you're nuts. These guys are the best of the best we have all heard about.

The limit to how long a squad can hold off hundreds is how much ammo they can carry, and how much air power is available and they had a Carrier full of kick ass minutes away.

I am surprised that the normally timid Obama would engage in such a high risk maneuver. Getting into a firefight would probably force Musharaf to cut the supply lines into Afghanistan and boot us out of the region for real. It is even possible that Obama was planning to leave Afghanistan all along, and he figured this way he had a good excuse regardless of how the mission went. Hopefully he takes this kind of decisive attitude in dealing with Libya.

It just isn't in character for BHO to give the orders to carry out this raid. From having congratulations and support his more recent haphazard attempts to clearly explain what happened suggests this was the work of somebody with far more experience and intelligence than Barrack Obama.

Agreed. Someone else is really pulling the strings. A true Operator is. He's got knowledge of it in his box - H2H, urban, rural, CQB, SUT.

Thats the guy behind the scenes and not only mastering them all, but also kowing how to read the situation and knowing how to transition from one to the other and back.
