Obama administration fights to save healthcare law

I'd love to see you say things like that on the street to real people that can knock you on your ass. I doubt you'd be so bold.
What else could I say to someone that says this kind of crap?
Shades
The bill wasnt explained, the final draft wasnt given time to even read much less understand, and never would have or did make it out of the senate..
So the dems pulled a procedural, technical, and yes criminal in this case fast one,
Shades ( a few posts down)
on topic, I dont think I said they did anything illegal, it was unethical and back door, and for something this large it shouldnt be done that way. not in the America i grew up in.. you debate, and if a bill this far reaching runs into as much opposition and angst in the public opinion, you dont pass it.. dictators do that kind of thing.
..................

You want me to hold his hand and walk him through this when my ten year old cousin could easily understand what was wrong with what he said in all of 20 seconds? Want me to tell him good try? He put in some really good effort on that one? lol.

the mere conceit of an fdr or lbj even contemplating passing their major reforms via senate reconciliation, mere days after announcing to the american people they were prepared to deem them, is literally unimaginable

vote obama, 2012!

his cramming of obamacare was NOT illegal!

LOL!

"Completely"? I don't think I said that. But to say that things like Welfare, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security are in no way, Using your words, Socialistic is laughable...In fact let's take Social Security as an example, How is that funded? Not by what has been with held over the years from the person that is collecting it, but rather from 3 or more current working people contributing to this one person collecting the benefit. That is by defination redistribution of wealth.

I suggest you learn the definition of socialism. As noted in another thread, Socialism has a specific definition. SS, Medicare, none of that meets the definition. Acting as a collective is not equal to socialism or communism in ANY way. This failure to know what these words actually mean hindes discussion. Though I do believe for many it is just a tactic to tar a group and not that they really don't know what the words mean.

The demo's were locking out repubs from talks on the structure of the law when it was in bill stage. The only "ideas" they were taking from repubs, or claiming that they got from them were ones that they could hand around their necks later.

This law is a disaster. Your hero at work.

Again, this happened after republicans made clear their role was to obstruct, do oppose, and not to help. This is the point.

As for a diaster? For many it simply doesn't go far enough. But for reform to ever happen, we must move forward and not allow the obstructors to to constantly keep us from moving at all.

For many it simply doesn't go far enough

absolutely

that's why republicans were sent to washington on tsunami tuesday in record numbers

because so many believe obamacare doesn't go far enough

But for reform to ever happen, we must move forward

too late, the party shot its wad

it's called obamacare

where ya been?

SS, Medi-care/aid, Welfare all meet this definition.

As an economic system, socialism is the direct allocation of capital goods (means of production) so that production is carried out for use, directly meeting economic demand, and accounting is based on some physical magnitude such as physical quantities or a direct measure of labour time.[5][6] Goods and services for consumption are distributed through markets, and distribution of income is based on the principle of individual merit/individual contribution.[7]

BTW, So does Obamacare.

Again, this happened after republicans made clear their role was to obstruct, do oppose, and not to help. This is the point.

Oh please....Quit crying...You all had a majority of both houses, and the Presidency, Obstruct what? You'd better look into demo's that stood in its way first.

As for a diaster? For many it simply doesn't go far enough. But for reform to ever happen, we must move forward and not allow the obstructors to to constantly keep us from moving at all.

Move to Cuba then. We are not that kind of State.

BTW, So does Obamacare.

No, it doesn't. None of them do. No means of production are controlled by the state in any case.

This is funny coming from the media whinning group. But, being factual on the time line is not whinning or crying.

Move to Cuba then. We are not that kind of State.

j-mac

Of course we are. Not Cuba, not socialist, not communist, but the type of state, country that has regulations, and SS, and Medicare, and Medicaid, and can have real reform if we want.

bottom line---if payment is based on ability and bennies are allocated by need, that's about as communial in nature as you can get

in america, that is

why run away from it?

can have real reform if we want

we don't

at least not a reform that's communial

didn't you see the last election?

don't they have tv's in detroit?

wow, 24 hours after I asked , 150 posts into a "political' forum topic and still no one can explain what good this bill , that I am being asked to pay for, does for ME.
that should be telling enough..

the point is you dont pass something this far reaching for generations to come, our grandkids will have expected us to all agree on it, and if not ALL agree on it,
at least all have to understood its merit..

liberals are touting the merit of this thing on the back of "its the right thing to do" well so is ending hunger in third world countries, but you dont throw a trillion dollars at it and call it done.

And anyone, anyone that doesnt think this thing was a. shoved through, b. done with back door shennanigans, and c. wasnt explained to those being asked to vote on it..is just dillusioned.

this is America, you dont just pass things THIS BIG because you can, you debate and gather support.
its too far reaching and expensive, and could not have been done at a worse time financially speaking.

socialism, in THIS context strictly refers to redistribution of wealth
it applies

It's a step in the right direction. Where it falls down is that it doesn't go far enough. Any serious reform would go closer to a single payer system.

And you might have a complaint, and I'd even be with you, had not republicans made clear they did not want to be part of the solution. They stated clearly all they want to do was derail and oppose Obama. You can't be taken seriously with that type of attitude.

LOL!

says the guy who links to sydney, australia to paint up teacher retention difficulties in new york

I must scare you. Do try to understand this is just a discussion forum. I won't hurt you. :coffeepap

its too far reaching and expensive,

I'm sure you were saying the same thing when Bush got his tax cuts without 60 votes and passed it with lopphole processes and I'm sure that makes you angry since it costs about 2 and a half times what the healthcare bill cost?

http://www.ctj.org/pdf/bushtaxcutsvshealthcare.pdf

Am I right or am i right? lol. "You need to garner support! Unless its tax cuts!"

Man, I need some gatorade. Showing how big of a hypocrite you are and just how wrong you are is building up a thirst that water can't quench...
