Newt Gingrich to launch presidential bid Wednesday

I've listen to Cain, he's no *****. He speaks up and says what he thinks.

Uh, oh. He'll never get elected that way. He'd better learn to give mealy mouthed talking points that can be interpreted however the listener wants.

The truth hurts. I'm black, so I know first hand exactly what's going in the black community and it kills me how the Libbos have been snowing us all this time. It's nothing more than economic slavery.

Economic slavery? You are black and doing fine, right? So what was your point again:roll:

So your claim is 96% of the blacks were duped by the Democrats? Couldn't be perhaps that you and the remaining 4% that didn't vote with the majority, were duped by the GOP could it?

This is not an attack on the middle class, it is perhaps an attack on the class of people who are LAZY and don't want to work and want something for nothing.

Really? Let's review:

Yes, the GOP's class war against the working class is a much better plan to draw them to your party! :sun

Note: working class is also known as the middle class.

Then you said:

At least the rich EARN their money and this country would crumble if it wasn't for the rich who get screwed by paying for all their spending sprees.

Why do you feel the working class (middle class) do not earn their money?

Obama should get off his ass and start cutting off all the free programs that cost ALL of US a lot of money and he should quit helping the rich that got in financial trouble.

What "free plans that cost us all a lot of money" are you referring too? I also did not agree with the GOP/DEM tarp bailout, but which party wanted regulations to prevent it from happening in the future, and which party fought against preventing it in the future?

Obama should abandon his policies that have cost jobs to the MIDDLE CLASS who are the working people.

What policies have cost the middle class jobs? Lets review unemployment before and after Obama:

Bush vs. Obama: Unemployment | Reflections of a Rational Republican

Obama is bankrupting this country, not the rich. Helloooooo!.

The debt as a percentage of GDP has hardly increased compared to what it was under Bush, and that was with stimulus spending necessary to prevent another Great Depression. Once we have recovered from the Bush recession will be the time to cut spending and the temporary tax cuts for the wealthy, as is spelled out in Obama's proposed budget.

I gather you never watched or cant remember Monty Pythons Search for the Holy Grail

A Witch turned someone into a newt, but he got better

And how does that deal with the issues of the next election??

Perhaps they should have a separate thread for those who feels the name of the candidates are amusing and they can test their schoolyard cleverness there.

I suppose Monty Python (and what a funny name that is!!) will forever remain cutting edge to some people.

How about this

Turtledude who brought up Witches, newts and Newt into this thread is not a raging liberal. He is what most would consider a libertarian conservative. You truelly are getting outraged over something the childish liberals have not done

I am truly not outraged, just bored with the low level quality of debate, and humor, when the 'newt' jokes were exhausted 16 years ago. He has just announced his candidacy so we can expect the same 'jokes' to be trotted out ad nauseum for the next year and a half.

Bush recession??? Obama has spent 3 trillion in 2 years.

Ooooooops I forgot!!!! It's Bush's fault!! :2bigcry:

No doubt. We do like to joke about a president's (or any high profile figure) name. Barry Hussain Soetero Obama certainly hasn't been exempt from that.

Now, if Rick Santorum gets nominated, just imagine what will be said about that name (google "santorum" and see).

How quickly they forget....................

"The last year of Bush's second term was dominated by an economic recession. The National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) marked December 2007, the month with the highest payroll employment numbers, as the high point of American economic production with output declining from then on to the present."

the price we paid for having Nasty Nancy and Dingy Harry running Congress

A Cain ticket would be interesting, but it could very well be tanked depending on who is running with him.

The one thing I do like about Cain is his views that welfare creates a dependency in its current form. Welfare has long needed reform and I would be ok with that part. Welfare should be a tool to help people when they come on hard times to get back on their feet and find jobs and not be used the way it is now.

As for the racist thing, while I don't believe most conservatives are racists, yes they are out there. I don't think racism follows any particular party lines, but it definitely exists and would come into play a little bit.

I think Cain is going to have a problem because of his past gigs and guest hosting of radio shows. He has floated thousands of sound bytes that can be used against him. A candidate who is on record offering his opinions on almost everything has given his opponents a gift of ammunition to use against him.

Yes, it cost a lot of money to clean up after the last administration. :sun

Lost congress?

Congress is the one spending all the money. All Obama can do is cheer them on...

Oh, you mean the loss of the Democrat controlled house! Oh, that was no doubt due to the voters' disgust with the decisions Congress has been making, along with a false idea that changing parties is going to make real changes. It's much the same thing that happened back in '06, when they threw out the Republicans and elected Democrats, expecting Tweedledum to be different from Tweedledee. Next time, they may just throw out the rest of the Democrats, again expecting something to change. After that, they'll throw out the Republicans, no doubt with the same result.

We the people have had enough of Obama, but that's what happened when we elected a community organizer that doesn't know crap and blame others for his **** ups.

What Newt needs to do, IMO, is find a way to put his past behind him, in talking points.
The media is going to keep digging things up he said in 1992, or 1996 as if one cant change with the times.
Newt is perfectly capable of running the country, and hes perfectly capable of convincing enough voters.
But what he may not be up to is beating off the liberal media machine.

That is a shame of course, not just that he cant but that he has to.

Whomever has a chance of knocking Off Obama will have to do so by remaining calm, quick tongued, and witty.

Its all about perception. substance will come out through the perception of not being frazzled by the pundits.

If he can make it to the one on ones with Obama, he has a good shot...
the mans not stupid, so dont count him out.

No, he's not stupid, but I'd be very surprised to see him win the WH. That pesky "liberal media" will keep bringing up things he has said and done, after all.

Erod may be right about the Democrats' worst nightmare, if his candidate can ever get the nomination, that is. Romney might be able to beat Obama, too, if he could get past the religious extremists and win the nomination.

But, the other big elephant in the room is that Obama couldn't spend a nickle without the consent of Congress. Changing Congress involves more than just switching parties.

Newt Gingrich to launch presidential bid Wednesday - On Politics: Covering the US Congress, Governors, and the 2010 Election - USATODAY.com

But he didn't wait. He announced today, May 9th, 2011.

Former House of Representatives Speaker Newt Gingrich has announced that he will be seeking the Republican nomination for U.S. president in 2012. Gingrich’s plans were made public via Facebook and Twitter Monday, where he also asked supporters to tune into his Fox News interview with Sean Hannity on Wednesday night.

Gingrich is a political genius, with excellent ideas, but that won't save him from the personal baggage he carries with him. Obama would eat him alive. The GOP needs a better player in the game.

Obama has something against him and that is his record of screw ups and I don't think that he can defend his stupidity, inefficiency, and ineptness. WE need a LEADER for change not a sleazy old politician who pretends to be somebody that he is not. If Obama is highly intelligent like some people think I have no idea why he hasn't applied it to his work. Actions mean more than words. That's my honest opinion.

Why is that? I thought that Slick Willy taught us that the things you plan to smear him with are his personal life....Or is that just for Ind....Ahem I mean liberals?
