Basically it just gives me more reason that we need to draw out of Iraqi, Afghanistan, screw Libya, and be every vigilant about Pakistan. I just realized something today too...my pants are from Pakistan. :(

You can forget that wish list before the next election. Losing wars and leaving before the job is done is something Libs try to get R's to do.

I'll be curious how the protest machine gets revved up again after Obama gets his ass booted in 2012. Right now they seem to be very quiet. I guess they ran out of paint and they're hoarse voices are in recovery.

Mind you Cindy Sheehan was back at 'er again. My... what a prophet for the left. Why are the press and leftists so shy about covering and promoting her these days?

I'm pretty sure that Our Government has the only technology capable of finding and recovering such a target from the bottom of the Ocean if you knew about where he is.

I ordered a specialty box of Arabian Sea Fish Sticks, "Fished from the region Osama has been a keep'in" is their motto. So, a very small part of him will be floating down the sewer in about a week. Just doing my part to bring him to where he should have been "rested" in the 1st place.

I don't respond well to orders anymore. Instead of me elaborating, how about you do your homework and quit whining?...but here's a thought for you. I've expressed my opinion in the past that nation building in the ME is a difficult, if not impossible task. The tribal nature of Afghanistan makes it very difficult, worse even than Iraq.

How do you think Libya is gonna turn out?

Therein lies the problem. Why throw good money after bad, particularly since we are now in a budget cutting mode. Turning from our imperialistic tendencies would be a good first step in deficit reduction..... short answer: we can't afford to play in the ME anymore (I agree with Ron Paul on this worldview).

The military is Constitutional, and national security is Job#1.

Want to cut something... look outside our national security interests... there is a ginormous pig, squealing, farting, belching and puking... trying to hide behind the national security Eagle.

Here is what the pig looks like, and those spinning numbers won't stop if we cut all our military expenditures.

I was surprised to hear about this. I figured they'd deny it, which was why I thought Obama should have released the death photos. This shows that Obama was correct, and bin Laden's death has been accepted without them. Good call on his part, it turns out.

"The writers of the al-Qaida statement appeared unaware of the U.S. announcement that bin Laden’s body had been buried at sea. The statement warned against mishandling or mistreating bin Laden’s body and demanded that it be handed over to his family, saying “any harm (to the body) will open more doors of evil, and there will be no one to blame but yourselves.”

We tend to have this propensity (myself included) to give "one voice" to big entities using that global "they said". In the case of al Qaida especially, that's probably not the best idea.

Regarding this particular statement/news release being discussed. The author (whoever it was) either doesn't have access to a radio or the morning paper, or he is really clumsy with details.

Thank you for your emotional argument with assorted irrelevant facts and opinions. I do not understand the relevance of your assertion that the military is constitutional to my argument of imperialism is expensive. Both assertions can be true and one does not refute the other.

To take on your issues directly, note the preamble to the US Consistitution:

"...We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence,[note 1] promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America...."

1. Note the that US Government has broad charters for several things, the common defence being one of many. I do not see any particular ranking of the broad tasks of the government under this charter. I am not certain how you deduce that "national security" much less "common defence" is "job #1).
2. "our national security interests" is a very vague term and is not necessarily "common defence"
3. Our forefathers did not envision a standing army.... it is impossible to be an imperialist nation without a standing army. Therefore, I do not believe they would be particularly happy with how be have perverted "common defence" as a meaning we should have bases throughout the world and be in the middle of the domestic issues of others, given our very existence is because of rebellion from UK imperialism. (my opinion)
4. Our desire to conquer and manipulate the world is broadly tucked under our "national security interests".... but what we do under that umbrella is open for debate.
5. Having a weak balance sheet (debt and running deficits) could be argued as a threat to "national security"
6. I understand the debt clock. I don't believe, however, you can be serious about getting our financial house in order if you are unwilling to look at the defense budget, which is by far our largest discretionary budget item. If you want bases in Iraq, then please explain how we pay for them (taxes?)
7. No where in my post did I suggest cutting "all of our military expenditures" or confining budget cuts only to the defense department.

Politically and historically going by patterns it would be very difficult for Obama to lose this election coming up. Also you bring up a good point, Obama will not draw out of these places because it doesn't make political sense to do so before an election (hence why the Afghanistan time table for withdraw is in 2014) because a wartime president has never lost an election. The biggest hurdle Obama has is a hurdle that I don't think anyone could overcome in four years regardless of policies, and that is our economy.
