Bin Laden was unarmed when shot

And probably none of us will ever learn a single member's name.

Wrong. The shooter's name is already out

btw - Its was a 5.56 HK416 that exterminated UBL

Really? That seems like an incredibly bad idea for his continued good health. :(

I posted this to show a distinct lack of tact and experience by President Obama. News from The Associated Press

A White House official says President Barack Obama will meet with some of those involved in the military assault that killed Osama bin Laden when he visits Fort Campbell, Ky., on Friday.

The savy media will start piecing the puzzle eventually....160th spec op (same dude that took out Somali pirates last year from the deck of the USS Bainbridge) and so on and so forth

Anyway, this was stupid move on Obama's part

by all means, execute ubl, summarily

assassinate him

but don't, under any circumstances, wall slam any of his minions you might capture in any attempt to uncover intel that might help us find ubl or prevent more massacres of innocent civilians

we're america, we must always be better than that

Couldn't agree more. I also believe a phone call from the President of the United States to each and every member of Seal Team Six would have been much more appropriate -- and even more meaningful than chatting them up. I think it's a matter of time before names get out...and that would be unfortunate for those SEALS and their families. "Bulls' eye on back" comes to mind.

I'm also amazed that things weren't thought out much more clearly as these plans began to form. Questions like these should have had answers clearly in place before this mission went forward:

If the mission succeeds, how are we going to reveal it to the American people?
What details will we provide and when will we provide them?

When the President of the United States made the announcement, all details the government intended to provide should have been immediately released. And then? 'Nuff said. Period.

This was a ****-up, in my opinion. OBL was armed. He was not armed. He used one of his wives as a shield. Oh, no he didn't. There was a huge firefight. Oh, no there wasn't. His son was whisked away. No, he was killed. Those are just some of the inconsistencies I've heard. I'm sure there are more.

The strong position was:

Last night at 2 AM EDT, on my orders, Seal Team Six stormed a compound where we believed OBL was hiding in plain sight. OBL was shot and killed. His son was also killed. One of his wives was shot as well. The Pakistani government was not informed of our intent beforehand for security reasons. We destroyed one of our own helicopters because it was damaged on landing. OBL's body was taken aboard Aircraft Carrier "Whatever" where it was buried at sea in accordance with Muslim tradition. It was one of the most successful covert operations in the history of our country. No one in Seal Team Six was injured. They are true American heroes.

Period. Personal phone calls to the team and, perhaps, a photo op for the President addressing all the SEALS and thanking them collectively for their dedication and loyalty to the USA.

Now that I think of it, "Ding-dong, the witch is dead," wouldn't have been bad either.

"Hello, Mr. Osama Bin Laden?"

"It's Usama"

"ummmm, mr Usama Bin Laden, then. My name is....."

"Go away, I'm busy".

"But sir, I've come away, and if you have just a minute...."

" a minute, then. I'm a very busy man"

"Thank you, sir. Well, my name is John Smith, and I am a Navy seal sent here to kill you...."

"Kill me? Couldn't you just arrest me? I have some marvelous prison laundry skills.

"Arrest you? My training didn't include arrest"

"You infidel dog, they didn't train....."

"Excuse me?"

"Excuse me, what?"

"You called me an infidel dog"

"It's a term if endearment. I call everybody an infidel dog."

Well, yes. I do like dogs, but...."

So, are you going to arrest me or what. I can be very cooperative.

Well, sir, I just don't know. I might have to call my superiors"

""May the fleas of a thousand camels infest your armpits, you syphlitic sharmoota . Your minute is up"

Yes, that reminds me."

"Reminds you wh ............................................................."

Do you think it would be a good idea to tell our enemy immediately exactly what happend, when we are the only ones with the intel? I don't mean to be a cynic, but I would not be shocked if some of the inconsistancies served a purpose. Most of them are probably the result of trying to be the first to report stuff (even within the white house itself). Who doesn't want face-time during obl-is-dead-fest on primetime.

Tonight's News: OBL is still dead. And here to tell us more about it is... a dude who kinda knows something he heard from someone's girlfriend.

I'm just saying, probably. I don't have a tv.

Anyway, consider the ISI alone. Do you want to tell them who is dead and who is in custody right away? I'd rather them sweat. I'd mis-direct them like a poker game. The announcements must be public or they don't buy it.

The media is to blame for a lot of this for trying to be the first to get this news out. Damn the facts! I wanna be First to say this or that-even if not 100% factual..

Then there is the misinfo. we are giving on purpose to serve a purpose to them and to keep our troops safe.

According to Al-Jazeera, Osama bin Laden, the infamous terrorist behind the deaths of innumerable people, including the September 11 terrorist attacks which alone consumed 3000 civilian lives, was unarmed when he was shot.

Bin Laden 'was unarmed' when shot dead - Americas - Al Jazeera English

So were 3,000 people in the WTC, and those that died in a PA field.

He was at war with us, and if he failed to be armed, that's his ****ing problem... not ours.

One Note. Has anyone seen the photos of bin laden with his painted facial hair. He looks like Mr. Bean with a glue-on beard. Good thing our boys didn't fall for the disguise.

That would have offended the Wiccans. The only religious group government is allowed to insuld are the Christians.

I am a Pagan and was not offended by what she said:)

When they saw he was unarmed, they should've slowly strangled him, or beheaded him, or burned him alive. They also could've thrown him off a chopper from high altitude. The dog should've been ordered to chew on his face for a while, and his crotch, too. Just say'n...............................

There is a very good reason we didn't. We are better than they are. End.Of.Discussion.

so were those 3000 people he had murdered on 9-11. what's your point?

Some folks seem to be very concerned over OBL rights.. Give me a frigging break people.:roll:

But Dan some think we should have brought him in since he was not armed. Yeah right. As if:roll:

For a Liberal I seem to like what you write a lot.
From what I heard and we have no idea how close it is to the facts, Osama was within arms reach of a Russian 9mm pistol and an AK-47 and as I said before he made the choice not to give up when he pushed his wife in the line of fire.
Why is it some Liberals claim to be Conservatives but the minute they post Liberal gibberish they are exposed.

Now that is the end of the Story.

Sometimes I'm a little slow on the up take...but what stands out when you hear that Bin Laden was not heavily guarded? Why wasn't he armed? If the world's strongest military is after you wouldn't you have some guards?

My pondering brings me to the conclusion that Bin Laden was probably not worried about being caught. He must have thought that he was safe. He must have thought that someone was protecting him. My guess is that he had bribed some Pakistani officials to look the other way.

I totally agree.. I think he thought that mansion/compound was a safehouse. And there is no doubt in my mind that they/Pakistani officials were protecting him. No way in hell nobody will ever convince me otherwise. They have lots and lots of explaining to do and now they do not want to allow us to be able to talk with bin ladens wives? For real? I think they fear what wifey may say about them.:(

Don't you find it odd, that President Obama's story has changed so much on how Bin Laden was assassinated

The fact is UBL was not armed and did not use one of his wives as a human shield.

So, why wasn't he taken into custody?
