Bush declines Obama invitation to go to ground zero

It's a campaign stop. BO wants a photo showing him on equal footing with W celebrating BL's takedown. And I'm sure he'll have the usual snarky BS loaded onto the prompter. Why would W want to sit thru that?

And I'm not real sure this is appropriate right now anyway. The 10th anniversary is just a few months off. But hey if BO wants to go to Zero, fine.

Meh, I'm not sure if Obama "needs" to show himself on equal footing with Dubya. But what do I know, I don't really see this as all that important. I think those who are getting into a "Bush vs. Obama is a better CIC" pissing match need to get a grip.

Nah, we got info from detainees at GITMO.

Like I said, despite what the 'Fair and Balanced' network drills into your head tonight... the facts don't back Cheney up. As usual...

You know what? AS much as I would like to say a liberal won this pissing match, the truth is that it was simply that the opportunity came along with Obama president. Obama really only gets credit in that he was the president when the opportunity came along.

I would disagree. This was a gutsy decision. The intel they had told them that Usama was probably in the compound. They were following his personal courier and almost 100% sure that this is where he was hiding. It was Obama's decision to go in using a surgical ground team and not an aerial attack from a drone or Jet. This could have easily backfired on him, especially if any of Usama's aides and Pakistani allies had gotten wind of the operation. Just think if the operation had gone south! The right wing would have crucified Obama.

I guess he has brush to clear...

I say send a Seal team to the ranch, pick W. up, and bring him to Manhattan.

I don't know if you know this but Bush has said that he is out of politics completely and has no desire to mingle with politicians. He wants Obama to get all the credit and his job was done 2 and half years ago.

Neither does W. That's another reason he ain't going.

Yes, because MediaMatters said so. Gotcha. Regardless, it was the military's victory and both Bush and Obama deserve some credit but not all of it.

And if the mission was a failure with deaths of SEALS who would have gotten the blame? Don't bother answering, I already know the answer.

It wouldn't have been Obama. I know enough about this subject to understand how things work

I didn't blame Clinton for not "catching" Eric Rudolph nor did I praise Bush was Rudolph being captured on his watch

It was also part of Bush's as well. But I just think President Bush is just trying to continue to stay out of the spotlight.

That's the only thing I can think of too...

I half way agree with you. Bush invaded Iraq, and it seemed like nobody cared about finding Bin Laden anymore... including Bush. I honestly thought we'd never get him.

You could describe most of the national disasters taken on by and triumphs claimed by pretty much every modern President that way. :)

Honestly, I don't get the entire concept of going to Ground Zero to commemorate the death of bin Laden. I could've sworn the nation had it's day of singing and dancing already, and I could've sworn that Obama had his opportunity to address the nation on the subject already.

I think it would be far more appropriate to save it for a brief mention in a commemorative speech given four months from now.

Bush has the right idea.

Bush hasn't made a big appearance in America since he left office... If Bush did accept the invite, it would be weird just to see him again. I wonder if he'll ever make a big appearance again.

I see it completely different... A lot of people must see it differently too, because they went to ground zero when they heard the news and waved the American flag and celebrated. It's always good to see our leaders get involved in those moments, because we are not thinking about our parties or politics. It's about our country. I liked when Bush went to ground zero, so I think it would be good to see this president go because Bin Laden is dead now and people are still suffering from 9/11.

Obama was making an effort toward bipartisanship by showing the left the victory is Bush's as well.

He's trying to unite the country. Bush was more comfortable to keep things divided.

No, he just has nothing to gain. If he was running for something, he probably would, but he's just not an attention whore. I'm sure Trump will show up whether or not he's invited.

I fail to see how it would have been different with McCain

McCain: Soft on Al Qaeda? | Swampland

A curious passage from John McCain’s victory speech last night:
Or will we risk the confused leadership of an inexperienced candidate who once suggested invading our ally, Pakistan, and sitting down without pre-conditions or clear purpose with enemies who support terrorists and are intent on destabilizing the world by acquiring nuclear weapons?

Sarah Palin would have done something really vindictive and stupid which would have caused McCain to blow up and have a stroke... She ascends to the Presidency. The economy collapses, the country falls apart, the energy grid goes down... we're back to the barter system. China owns us. End of the U.S.A. Osama is still at the mansion...

What I can't figure out about the Libertarians and the far-righties... They don't want Government to provide handouts, but they still say Obama owes people a job... Very strange.
