Official: Bin Laden buried at sea

I'm glad he met his end this way - he was taken off with full knowledge of who was doing it. There was no mysterious boom from the sky - no quiet passing in his sleep. He felt some fear, he saw it coming - got one shot off and that was that.
 
Did anyone notice that "enhanced interrogation techniques" were used? It seems to have just skated past a lot of folks... Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....

I hope it was in a chopper at a nice elevation, and had I been in the chopper doing the duty, would have been sure to have had a huge wad of chew in, and let the biggest goober the second after he was sent sailing to hell.

•The body was placed in a weighted bag.
•A military officer read prepared religious remarks which were translated into Arabic by a native speaker.
•After the words were complete, the body was placed on a prepared flat board, tipped up, whereupon the deceased's body eased into the sea from the USS Vinson."

Throwing him overboard is an interesting strategy. The effort is to try and mitigate his martyr-dom. If he were buried, it would have been a flashpoint for his followers for years to come. He'll still be a martyr in the eyes of his followers, however, no matter where the body is at this time.

I'm just glad he is no longer breathing.

Martyr? He wasn't jailed or tortured. He was hiding out, living comfortably when payback came knocking.

I agree, but some right wingers might say it was to prevent closer examination, DNA proof that it wasn't OBL...

The mission goals (as they should have been)

1. Kill the dog. ---- Done with a bullet dipped in bacon fat.
2. proper treatment of body ---- Wrapped in white linen (OK dipped in bacon fat)
3. Burial at sea ---- The Bay of Pigs.
 
One thing that doesn't make sense to me is that they supposedly knew where this mansion was and that Bin Laden was in there. He was the most wanted man in the world by INTERPOL and the United States, for the deaths of those on 9/11 and however many thousands elsewhere, and we just shot him in the head and tossed him into the ocean?

Even Saddam had a trial, even if it was only a show trial. This doesn't feel like justice, and it seems like things happened much too rapidly. It's too convenient. I want to believe it's true because it would mean the end of an era, but I just can't accept it. And no, I'm not a conspiracy theorist. I don't claim to have proof that this isn't the real deal. It just doesn't sit right with me.

I'm neither and I don't find the joke funny, especially since we're dealing with the death of our biggest enemy of the past decade or more.

It would be nice if, for once, people could keep the partisan bull**** out of a topic.
 
I'm still not sure why they buried him at sea, I was expecting an autopsy, holding the body, or something.
