In talk of taxes, Bachmann cites Holocaust | Concord Monitor

Careful to note there is no direct analogy between the two, Bachmann, a potential Republican candidate for president, said current generations will be held accountable if they don't take action now - the same way Americans were after World War II, for not stopping the systemic murder of 6 million Jews and other minorities.

I wonder if there is a special award for something being Godwinned even before it makes it to a thread.

It's fine to go around denouncing government entitlement programs and taxes, until you look at the people who will die if they are kicked to the curb if their benefits are cut, I am not kidding or exaggerating.

Bitch about taxes all you want and then fight to cut them, you can even freeze all benefits but to go after those in true need is unforgivable. You want to save some money, kill all Foreign Aid except to Israel and one or two others.

And we should fight to cut taxes for everyone and go back to import tariffs forget this fair trade nonsense until the other countries are paying at least our minimum wage to all workers, because that is not fair to our people.

Next we all need to work overtime to get rid of Obama to save the Nation from further destruction.

How does cutting less than half of 1% of the budget actually save money?

Too bad this will cost millions of jobs for Americans. I suggest you read up on the Smoot–Hawley Tariff Act.

Not only is it a completely inappropriate Godwinning (that's a word now), but it doesn't even make sense. Americans were held accountable? How, exactly?

Bachmann inhabits her own version of reality. In her alternate history, there was never any racism in America, until we didn't liberate the concentration camps.

I find it hard to fathom this woman has won a democratic election. She is more loony that Glenn Beck.

But the difference is that Beck is basically like Coulter. He's in it for the paycheck. I don't think Beck believes a damn thing he says. Bachmann actually appears to believe the vomit coming out of her mouth.

I think what's sadder is this sentence:

Careful to note there is no direct analogy between the two, Bachmann, a potential Republican candidate for president, said current generations will be held accountable if they don't take action now - the same way Americans were after World War II, for not stopping the systemic murder of 6 million Jews and other minorities.

Has the American Right lost so many intellectuals that it doesn't know what an analogy is anymore?

So, let's look at things.

Bachman is saying that if the nation doesn't get it's head out of it's ass damn soon, it's going to create an economic holocaust that future generations will blame us for creating, simply because too many of us, ie, you lefties, flatly refuse to admit the cliff edge is visible.

As part of her analogy, a word Bachman clearly underdstands, she compares today's present inertia with the refusal of America to intervene in Europe. Well, the Mayor admits that Bachman isn't so hot at drawing accurate analogies. Due to the lies coming from Europe on both sides before the US was dragged into WWI by Wilson, when WWII rolled around, and the same kinds of stories were coming from Europe, Americans were rightly skeptical. Death camps? That's what they heard in 1917. And the stories coming from National Socialist Germany were even more absurd. So Americans were reluctant to get involved in a foreign war, and rightly so. The war in Europe was never America's business.

BUT.....the debt crisis the Left has forced on America is not a fantasy from Europe. It's the very evident reality of today, and it's 100% American. Failure to act now is as negligent as getting out the marshmallows for your oven's grease fire and not calling the fire department. Worse, the Left wants the nation to turn up the gas.
