Circumcision to be banned in San Francisco

I have no problem with male circumsision and certainly it does have its basis in Jewish law so I understand and respect the religious connection.

What I do have a problem with and believe should be banned (if its not already) is the practice of female circumsision which is only the mysogynist butchering of female genitalia. This is savagery.

Looks like there's a good chance that circumcision will be banned in San Francisco? Could this be the first step towards banning circumcision in the entire United States? Do you think male circumcision should be illegal or not?

Not even close to the title of the story nor accurate to what the story is about. Did you read it?

[stereotypical gay san francisco joke]Obviously the people making the laws in San Fran just have a fetish for uncut guys[/stereotypical gay san francisco joke]

Funny.

I find that gay men are strongly divided on uncut penises. They either find them really beautiful or really gross.

All the pleasure that I have been robbed of in life, I cannot do that to another man. Make it illegal.

this guy is a tool...
Meet the man behind SF's proposed circumcision ban : City Insider
"The base of our argument is you're spending incredible amounts of money doing painful and damaging surgery to an unwilling patient," he said.

Schofield argues that since female genital mutilation was banned under federal law in 1996, practicing male circumcision violates the equal protection clause.

San Francisco Man Proposes to Ban Circumcision - ABC News
"The foreskin is there for a reason," said Schofield, who is retired from a career in the hotel industry. "It's not a birth defect. It serves an important function in a man's life, and nobody has a right to perform unnecessary surgery on another human being."
I notice he fails to say exactly what that is.

He won't tell anyone anything about himself.

Part of an interview...
http://blogs.sfweekly.com/thesnitch/2010/11/circumcision_ban_doesnt_interest_child_rights_grou p.php
For the first time in 20 years of journalism, I was compelled to ask an interview subject about his penis. Did he have the procedure done himself?

"This is not about me personally. I don't want to talk about my penis, frankly," he said.

I don't usually want to talk about interview subjects' penises either. But this is a germane issue concerning the backer of a drive to get a circumcision ban on the ballot, don't you think?

"I'm sure everybody thinks this is germane and their business, but I want the focus to be the issue, and not me. People say, 'Oh, he's uncircumcised and he wants everyone else that way,'" he said.

Hmm. No, I hadn't thought of that. What do you mean?

"They must think he's uncircumcised, and it's so ugly. And it's only because he has an ugly penis that he wants to do this. But I'm not embarrassed. I'm not ashamed," he said.

I wasn't aware some people thought uncircumcised penises were ugly.

"Oh yes, in the U.S. there's a stigma, and it's against intact men," he explained. "Just look at blogs. It seems like people only feel comfortable with what they're used to, and I do feel there is way that intact men are stigmatized. I think it's unfortunate people should be stigmatized one way or another."

I hadn't read blogs that said uncircumcised penises were ugly. Is this common?

"It's very much so. It's social pressure. It's understandable, if everybody is one sway, and somebody is a little different, that person is singled out," he said.

Schofield said prejudice against uncircumcised men is so acceptable that Hollywood celebrities espouse it.

When they are hard, you really can't tell a difference... lol

I doubt they will get enough signatures...

10 to 1 the guy dropped his pants one time, a woman laughed her ass off, and thus started his crusade in support of the "intact" ones.

Yeah, EPC would have a hard time standing up in court considering that the male and female reproductive organs are entirely different structures and attempting to equate them as being entirely equal things is ridiculous.

The OP mentions his 'partner'. Usual meaning in this context is a partner of the same sex, so 'woman' might be the wrong word here.

I think banning it is stupid, but I think that the boy should be able to choose if he wants to be circumcised or not, and obviously this means waiting until he is older.

Right, right, San Francisco and all that.

Fine, 10 to 1, the guy dropped his pants one time, and the guy across the room laughed his ass off, and thus started his crusade in support of the "intact" ones ;)

When one gender laughs you out of the bedroom, it might be your only viable option to switch to the other...

Speaking only for myself as a male...

I would want it done, but I would want it done as a baby when I can't remember it or think of it. I wouldn't do it when I'm older not because I don't want it, not because I wouldn't prefer it, but because I don't want anyone ****ing cutting at my junk. Seriously....you could tell me that it'd cause it to grow 3 inches longer and I'd still probably contemplate turning it down simply because I couldn't get past the thought of sharp thing and junk.

So I'm happy it was done on me as a baby, and would actually be rightly upset if my parents had been barred from doing it.

I don't know about the rest of the guys, but I for one would not want to deal with the pain involved, even for a 'short' period of time. I'm glad my parents followed tradition and had me circumcised before I was old enough to remember the pain.

It just seems kind of unethical to do something permanent, and optional(I'm not exactly sure of the medical benefits of circumcision, if there are any) to someone without their consent. But that's coming from a female, so take my word with a grain of salt.

This bill is just pathetic. Circumcision is a GOOD thing.

Is this bill a slight against Jews?

All the pleasure that I have been robbed of in life, I cannot do that to another man. Make it illegal.
They normally remove and discard the foreskin and leave the remainder of the penis intact. I'm thinkin maybe in your case, they got it backwards.

.

Just another example in a very long list of examples of why you coudln't pay me to live in California. I swear the people in that place takes great pleasure in interfering with other peoples private lives.

Why do you assume Jews? Muslims do it too.

We don't care about Muslims less they're trying to put a mosque up somewhere.

I wouldn't force somebody to have it done, but uncircumcised penii look like tapeworms to me. Or like the worm from "Dune", only lots smaller.
