House Democrat files suit forcing donor disclosure - Forbes.com
WASHINGTON -- A top House Democrat filed a lawsuit Thursday against the Federal Election Commission to force the disclosure of anonymous donors to groups that spend money on political campaigns.

Maryland Democratic Rep. Chris Van Hollen filed suit in federal district court in Washington, saying the FEC had improperly allowed such groups to shield the names of their donors. He also filed a petition asking the FEC to revise a regulation he said allowed donors to these groups to remain anonymous.

Van Hollen chaired the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee that year, when the party lost 63 seats and control of the House.

Sounds like sour grapes. I wonder if he wants this disclosure to apply to Democrats too... like Obama?

Good thread.

I have no problem with full disclosure as long it is applied equally to one and all.

I think Union members would love to know when their dues are being used and for what purpose, and that goes to all organizations, public & private.

After all isn't this the age of openness and transparency?

Or it it the age of claim wonderful things then screw it do what ever the hell we want, and if asked about the hypocrisy, just look incredulous, and say I have no idea what ever you are talking about, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I learned this from watching Obama, Pelosi, and Reid, the "Trifecta of Doom."

I too favor full full disclosure from all of them. No loopholes.
Full full disclosure.

Yes it is. The President even got an award for it. Well, we were 'told' he got an award for it... we weren't allowed to actually see the presentation.

Apparently OP disagrees with more transparency?

Actually, sounds like the OP is suggesting that the call for transparency isn't being made due to an honest desire for more transparency but due to political bitterness towards recent results. The OP doesn't seem to indicate either way at first disagreement or agreement concerning the need for transparency.
