Obama to reporter: 'Let me finish my answers' next time

please tell me someones seen trumps interviews lately, "excuse me, excuse me, let me finish, excuse me", come on theres worse. obama just asked in a calm fashion, "hey, stop asking me questions that your just gonna interupt anyway", seriously how many times has obama been treated like a left wing fox news guest during an interview, im glad hes finally sticking up for himself and the people that elected him in the last few weeks, and throwing a middle finger to acting like a middle man. theres no republican candidate who would ever bend over for bipartisanship ideas as much as obama has this year.

Looks like you formed an opinion without watching the uncut vid and in your words "would[n't] know" what you are talking about because you hadn't seen the uncut version.

I just love liberal hypocrisy.

everyone should get adequate time to finish their statements in a legitimate interview or debate, ESPECIALLY the head of state, i think i want to hear what obama has to say about political issues before the interviewer. things have really turned upside down.

It has never been rude to interrupt when someone lies or gets a number wrong.

Then Google and watch all of his daily speeches. When he sits down for an interview he isn’t being invited to give a speech, he is being asked to answer some direct questions.

We call it a dialogue in the grown-up world and anybody who thinks they can cough up a terd at the dinner table without being stopped and asked to pick up their terd before they finish their diatribe has a problem.

His ass isn’t made of gold and he doesn’t walk on water. Trust me, if he is going to whine about this being a tough interview, wait till the campaign season really gets started.

I agree wholeheartedly, I looked to the guy as the devil for a while and after a bit and seeing footage of him being himself I took that stance. Still, he was only a petít fascist. Not hitler by any means.

Actually, I am pretty sure I have heard people say Obama is the devil... Well, the anti christ at least...

he was not talking s**t he was making legitimate points, that all americans should hear and understand, especially about this idiotic debt limit argument that shouldn't be on the table at all, just the fact that the gop is even arguing this out of nowhere is hurting us, our national credit score is going down, THIS HAS NOT happened since the beginning of our nation. the arguments are preposterous, and potentially disastrous!!!

and if old conservatives only legitimate argument to young people is that you are all grown-ups.... big whoop, experience can create positive just as much as negative, i go by education, IQ, and philosophy and principals, our generation has been tricked the most, and were tired of playing by corperate rules and being pushed into every tech field but down-graded on politics

do you even know what a fascist is?? wtf dude? lmfao, now on a more logical and educated note, some tea partiers and the far-right are MUCH closer to fascism and hitler.
where do you think obama hate comes from? reseach please, especially if your at w&m, i know they have a better political education than that

A dialogue in the adult world requires good manners.

Trust me, if he is going to whine about this being a tough interview

This wasn't a tough interview. A tough interview is one where you're treated with respect but held to task nevertheless.

You throw a lot of opinion and critisism out there but never point to exactly what was disrespectful.

Thanks for the chat. We are done.

How to Have Good Manners - wikiHow

Don't interrupt, cut off or override others, unless they are insulting or swearing, etc. Give others respect and try letting them finish. Practice being a listener!

Social Etiquette and Good Manners: Interrupting an conversation, interruptions, glance

What do you do if you approach two people at work who are talking and you need to speak to one of them? I believe the correct thing to do is to wait quietly and patiently until the first conversation is done.

Dear Wayne,

Thank you for your question.

If you see two people engaged in what seems like a business discussion, the best thing to do is to go back to your desk and wait. There is nothing more annoying - except interruptions - than to have someone standing there waiting for you to finish a conversation. If you catch the person's glance during the approach, say excuse me, I don't mean to interrupt, but can I see you after you are finished here? Then return to your desk.

If you are in a situation where you've come to a different floor or distant part of the office, go ahead and wait patiently for them to finish. Just don't hover too close.

I hope this helps.

Robin

I can't believe I just looked that up for somebody who is supposedly an adult.

I haven't read all the 200+ posts in this thread so I don't know if this has already been brought up, but I wonder if you were just as incensed when Dan Rather went after George Bush senior and eventually cut him off.

I also wonder if this reporter had treated Sarah Palin the same way, if you would be so on her side if she complained about being cut off, or would you just see her as playing the "victim card" again?

I think we've miscommunicated.

This thread has reached a new level of stupidity. You're asking him whether he was pissed about something that happened nearly 20 years ago? Are you even remotely f'n serious about debating politics? What's next? Are you going to ask whether he was angry about that time that Nixon was grilled about his involvement in Water Gate? I'm sure you'll blow a casket if Dan tells you he didn't really care.

It is a total joke and complete joke that you brought this up, for two reasons:

1) Bush and Rather took turns interrupting each other. They were both rude.

2) I was 11 when that was filmed, so it would've been most unusual for me to have noticed it at the time.

I also wonder if this reporter had treated Sarah Palin the same way, if you would be so on her side if she complained about being cut off, or would you just see her as playing the "victim card" again?

Rude is rude, no matter who or what, regardless of the fact that Sarah Palin is a laughing stock from where I'm sitting.

I think he's serious -- it's just that how he perceives the whole idea deviates significantly from accepted social convention.

.... Dan, how did you feel about Teddy Roosevelt and his disdain for Henry Ford? The way I've understood it, you're old as ****. So you obviously have an opinion on early 20th century Republican disdain for social corporatists like Ford. Please say you do? If you do not, I will pounce on you. I MEAN IT BITCH!

Which is why I provided the video, and TED did exactly what I expected, found a reason why it was ok for Rather to act as he did.

****, man, I'll go you one better -- I've got some very definite opinions about Lincoln's indifference towards the Constitution and the abolition of slavery! Ask me about the Magna Carta! Quiz me on Jesus Christ, we opened a winery together! I've seen it all!! BRING IT ON MOTHER****ER! :scared:

.... Dan just explained to you that he was 11 when that incident happened. He didn't really give much of a **** about why it happened. He stated that both men interrupted each other and were both rude. He simply stated what happened and what he thought of it. How you get from that he thought it was 'ok' to be rude, is beyond me. Maybe you have some sort of monitor that sees which parts of Dan's brain is activating?

Uh, no, that's exactly what I didn't do. I pointed out that it was silly of you to pick on Rather when Bush was just as bad, then I closed with:

Rude is rude, no matter who or what, regardless of the fact that Sarah Palin is a laughing stock from where I'm sitting.

Do you actually read what I say, or do you read just enough to prove your point when taken out of context and ignore the rest?

And something prevents you from forming an opinion now (which is something you've already done).

Oh bullsh**. You're answer shows that you'd applaud the reporter. Don't say you don't carry Obama's water any more. It's just laughable. Remember how you refused to believe a reporter was kept in the closet at a Biden fund-raiser? LOL

That's funny, I thought it was on the reporter to have respect for the office, but I guess that's only when Obama's in it.

Please quote me where I said it was okay for Rather to do what he did. You can't, but I'd like to see you go through the mental contortions necessary to twist my words in that direction.

Don't say you don't carry Obama's water any more. It's just laughable.

Don't pretend to be interested in actual adult discussion any more. It's just laughable.

Yeah, because the whole premise was absurd for reasons that were explored in detail in that thread.

Are you reading past what Dan is saying? I bet if you try really hard you can visualize Dan writing on his desk about how much he loves Dan Rather for interrupting Bush I about 20 years ago. If you try even harder you'll be able to see Dan tattooing Rather's mug on his ass. That's how much we on the left love rude reporters. We tattoo their faces on us. It's a fact.
