Cuba says it will allow people to buy and sell their homes for the first time since the communist revolution in 1959.

For the past 50 years, Cubans have only been allowed to pass on their homes to their children, or to swap them through a complicated and often corrupt system.

Indicative of the old generation's willingness and determination to continue the legacy of the revolution, even if it does mean stepping over previously unthinkable boundaries and doing thing's once thought of as taboo's in the Communist country.

I think that Raul (if he lives long enough) might turn out to be Cuba's Deng Xiaoping. He seems to be pursuing an economic modernization plan that will help Cuba transition away from communism. Of course, it's also possible that his regime will be overthrown and a democratic capitalist system will take its place anyway. I think the Cuban government is a lot less stable than it appears.

I doubt that Cuba will move away from socialism anytime soon. What Raul is doing is cutting up and trimming the regime and redefining it. If it works, he will secure the legacy of the revolution for generations. If it fails and therefore pushing Cuba into desperate poverty, then their life's work is doomed.

I have said this before, if a Cuban leader wanted to go down in History as the greatest Leader the Nation had even seen they would move to a Capitalist Nation and do what ever is needed to open all trade with the US including all Tourism.

Anyone with any knowledge of history knows that Socialism and even all Democracies eventually collapse.

We are still around because we are a Democratic Republic, and so far it works and will continue to if we don't let Obama and the Liberals drag us into Socialism/Marxism along with Black Liberation Theology.

Socialism has a much shorter sell-by date than Democracy that i can agree with. And what about Black Liberation Theology (just curious what you mean)?

One could make an argument that Cuba was defiantly worse off under Capitalism (Batista regime) than under their USSR form of communism they are under right now..
But i certainty would like to see Cuba start electing their leaders other than just their congress members...
And "and the Liberals drag us into Socialism/Marxism along with Black Liberation Theology" seriously man? :doh:roll:
