House passes huge GOP budget cuts

you don't know what you're talking about

as chair of senate finance, baucus was more responsible for the exact shape of obamacare than any man or woman in the nation

he was the gatekeeper

conrad, at budget, was his partner

conrad killed the public option, he is the top national advocate for what he calls rural care

conrad announced in january he's QUITTING (i wonder why)

you don't know what you're talking about

i'm not surprised

actually, it's ten, bowles plus 9

with 2 of the gop'ers picked by the white house

unless you wanna argue with wsj

about the membership of the debt commission

I'da sk for sources, but you have none. You are a product of feeding off the lies the rich pay people to put out there.

You have no discussion tools and your lack of knowledge comes from your lack of a knowledge base of information.

No offense, pal, but I would rather spend my time talking with someone who at least knew where to find the truth. Educating the uneducable right is not my job. As an American citizen, it's your job to tell the truth from propaganda

oh, hey Haymarket, how ya doing? didn't see you in this thread

Remember the Big Labor resurgence? Neither do we, but we ventured back 29 days into our archives, and there was the Washington Post's E.J. Dionne declaring on NPR that Gov. Scott Walker's success in passing legislation curtailing the power of unions was a victory for those labor monopolies: "What [Walker and the GOP] have done is they have mobilized Democrats and the labor movement--Democrats in a way President Obama wasn't able to in 2010, and the labor movement, as it's never been mobilized before."

"Voters have sided with . . . the unions," Dionne had written five days earlier. Last week this assertion was put to a test at the ballot box, and it proved true. Voters did side with the unions. Not a majority of voters, mind you, but a big enough minority to almost oust a sitting justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court in favor of Big Labor's candidate. OK, they lost, but it isn't as if voting out a sitting Supreme Court justice is easy in Wisconsin. Had it happened, it would have been for the first time in almost 1,100 days...

So far from being mobilized "as it's never been mobilized before," Big Labor is "deeply troubled"--and also, according to Politico, "raw," "bitter" and "disappointed." Why?

Perhaps their political power is fading because increasingly their adversaries are not Big Business but taxpayers. According to Bureau of Labor Statistics data, a majority of labor union members work for the government... Supporters of labor monopolies have attempted to elide the distinction between government and private-sector employees, in the hope of inspiring the latter's "solidarity" with the former. But the decades-long decline of private-sector unions means that only a tiny minority of nongovernment workers are part of Big Labor. The labor monopolies may feel they "must still try to maintain a relationship with the Democratic Party," but the Democratic Party also has to maintain a relationship with those of us who pay the bills.

No I don't.

It is not about individuals and their own personal gain. It is about all American workers being protected in their golden years. That is a nationwide societal benefit that makes America a great nation.

prove that claim

Because this is NOT about you as an individual. It is about a societal program for America.

the societals are comprised of individuals, millions of em

they've been lied to all their working lives

Because this is NOT about you as an individual. It is about a societal program for America and Americans. 93% of American workers pay FICA tax on 100% of their earnings. All workers should.

No, you're making it be a redistributive program. It is an insurance program. Why should I be FORCED to pay more for insurance when I need it less and won't get any additional benefit from it?

It was indeed. Which makes voters's remorse all that much more serious for republicans in 2012.

They better hurry up and fix the economy or 2012 could be a replay of 2010 in reverse.

to help keep Haymarket's masters in office?

deep down the socialists hate people being free or having the option to opt out of government schemes

The point is to KEEP the promises made to generations.

by telling em all their lives they can retire at a certain age, and then, when they're 54 and half, suddenly yanking it out

by freezing their bennies while inflation is thru the roof

by raising their contributions in return for pensions with far less buying power

get real

The Hill is the baby of Dick Morris and opinions never substitute for facts.

dick morris?

LOL!

YouTube - Twilight Zone intro.

the hill is brain lamb's number one go to on cpan's morning show, washington journal

the hill employs markos

and the hill piece you're disputing is DEMOCRATS WON'T PASS A BUDGET IN 2010

LOL!

as if there's any question

It is about all American workers being protected in their golden years.

sure, workers pay in some half million dollars in PRINCIPAL over 50 years, get a paltry 1200 a month in return if they're lucky enough to make it to the retirement age, whatever that's gonna be

Average monthly Social Security benefit for a retired worker

and if they don't quite make it, the govt keeps the brunt

golden

That is a nationwide societal benefit that makes America a great nation.

it all comes down to values

Again from your link:

"There are no cuts to the traditional Medicare benefit. The lion's share of spending cuts are in Medicare Advantage -- a program that uses private firms such as Humana and UnitedHealth Group to deliver Medicare benefits."

Do you think Human and United Health will provide the same benefits for less money?
Very simple question.

Very simple question.

The mangagment of Advantage care will no longer be administered by private companies under the health care reform. That is where the savings will come from.

Where did it say that?
It said that they would freeze payments this year and reduce them gradually over time.

So will those reduced payments to the Advantage insurers result in an increase or decrease in benefits?

Just so we are clear, I'm quoting directly from the story.
" Medicare Advantage payment rates will be frozen in 2011 and then gradually reduced giving companies time to adjust to the changes."

Just one question why do we always cut social programs but increase defense spending?
