Now it heads to the Arizona republican dominated house and then to Governor Jan Brewers desk to be signed into law. I believe this is going to make the White House implode as this is now mainstream. Trump is making this constitutional crisis come to light and there is no doubt the media can't ignore this issue anymore like they did in the 08 election. Now since Arizona Senate has taken the first step in becoming the first state to pass a presidential eligibility bill to make sure a candidate produces more documentation to ensure that they are actually a natural born citizen, I think it will make other states like Texas go ahead and pass theirs with other states following. Obama is in trouble because he is going to have to deal with this no matter if he likes it or not.

Arizona Senate approves 'birther' bill

PHOENIX - The Arizona Senate has approved a revised bill requiring presidential candidates to prove they are U.S. citizens eligible to run for the office.

The bill approved Wednesday gives candidates additional ways to prove they meet the constitutional requirements to be president.

It was prompted by the ongoing claim by some that there is no proof President Barack Obama was born in the United States and is therefore ineligible to be president.

Gee, another stupid bill from Arizona. What will President Obama need to do that he hasn't already done? Stupid Republicans.

um... how the **** can a state tell the federal government what they can or cannot do?

U.S. Constitution: States conduct the selection of presidential electors in ANY MANNER THEY PLEASE.

How is making presidential candidates show more proof they are qualified to be on the ballots as natural born citizens stupid?

Yes, because we have had so many foreigners are president...hint: we have had none.

You're assuming President Obama hasn't already done that? If so, why?

According to Obamas own website, his birth was governed by the British Nationality Act of 1948 due to his father being a British National. That made Obama at birth a dual British Citizen and not a natural born citizen despite being born in Hawaii. I believe this is why former democratic party chair Brian Schatz in Hawaii didn't certify Obama as constitutionally eligible on the Hawaii Democratic Party OCON form as it has been revealed lately. The provisional wording was left out. This Arizona bill will make a candidate come up with more proof for verification that they are a NBC that Article 2 Section 1 calls for.

My wife and I was talking to a couple in Sams Club yesterday. They were from Arizona lived there all their lives, they moved to Florida last year. For the sake of brevity they said Arizona went from Heaven to hell in 20 yrs. They told us you cant imagine how bad it really is along the border and inland

What's the big deal? Obama is a natural born citizen. However the Clinton's did question it and more followed suit, making it a circus distracting from real issues. All the states should follow AZ and it will never happen again.

Where in the hell did you get this information, WND? Do you have a link to the Obama website where it says this about him? BTW, there is no question this law would be found unconstitutional.

I agree barb..besides who cares I mean Obama and GOP are already starting to campaign for the next elections...its a moot point anymore, but lets make sure this kind of nonesense doesnt happen again...

Huh? I suppose Obama will take AZ to court over this one too. :(

What was stupid about a law that was the spitting image of federal law? The federal government wasn't (isn't) doing it's job to protect Arizonans. Don't they have a right to defend themselves? I've never known a president more divisive than this one. Have we ever had a president who sued states for passing laws that were just offering to help the federal government do their jobs? For that matter, have we ever had a president who sued a state for anything?

Yes I do have a link. It's called Fight The Smears:

Fight the Smears: The Truth About Barack

“When Barack Obama Jr. was born on Aug. 4,1961, in Honolulu, Kenya was a British colony, still part of the United Kingdom’s dwindling empire. As a Kenyan native, Barack Obama Sr. was a British subject whose citizenship status was governed by The British Nationality Act of 1948. That same act governed the status of Obama Sr.‘s children.

The last sentence confirms he was born a dual citizen.

FYI, for everyone. The AZ legislature's fundamental allegiance is to large businesses in the state, just as it is any other right wing state.

The silly "birther" bill, along w/the other so-called anti-immigration bills, is nothing more than political posturing--legislation aimed at merely creating the impression in the minds of of the massively dumbed-down right wing electorate in AZ that the pols are actually interested in their moronic racist agenda, while being virtually ineffectual in practice.

The birther bill obviously is not going to be enforced, and neither will any of the anti-immigration laws (which the cops know are detriment to their job in a state where so many Latinos live).

Hardly. There was no legitmate reason for it to have ever been an issue this time. You can't legislate away stupid. Stupid will always find a way. :coffeepap

On what grounds?

The Full Faith and Credit clause, for starters. The state of Hawaii released Obama's birth certificate long ago, and certified it as genuine. If that isn't good enough for Arizona, it means that they are not giving full faith and credit to the documents of another state, which is unconstitutional.

The "natural-born citizen" requirement just means that a person was a US citizen at the time of their birth. Any other citizenships they may ALSO have had at the time of their birth are irrelevant. Fun fact: We've already had a president who was a dual citizen of two countries. Anyone in the class know who it was?

Only sad that it's not standard procedure at the Federal level. It's about time. Took over 200 years. Maybe that'll be part of Obama's legacy.

Really? We've had a ton of foriegn presidents have we? Seriously, Obama proved his birth, met the critieria, did all that should be required by anyone. The question is why what all have provided is not good enough for Obama? It begs a few real and honest questions.
