Obama: I'll cut $4 trillion

over 100 posts and no one has yet to offer anything to show why Obama's proposal is not a sound one

Substantially all credible economists believe that a real deficit reduction program cannot be had without using all the tools in the toolbox: a mix of tax increases and across the board spending cuts, including defense cuts. Its naive to think you can quickly balance the budget by just cutting the programs the regressives hate.

He owns a history book.

And he drew a line in the sand.

Let's see how the GOP is going to answer to their seniors...

Answer to the seniors for what? You obviously haven't read the Ryan proposal. Nothing is going to change for anyone 55 or older.

so, you think reducing the accumulated national defict is a bad thing. figures

why do you engage in silly evasions of the point I made? taxing the rich more while encouraging your dem masters to spend far more to buy the votes of people like you will not reduce the deficit

the only way to stop the massive deficit is to stop the pandering and spending and that won't happen by taxing a group that is going to start engaging in massive tax avoidance. the rich don't have enough money to keep up with the pandering people like you support

only when politicians start losing elections by calling for more spending will this happen

You are very optiimistic to think there will be no Democrats in Congress. Do you want to live in a one party state?

I want a responsible govt. that believes in the vision of our Founders and not one that takes from one class to give to another and one that promotes the nanny state. Democrats controlled the entire Congress and the WH. Did that bother you?

Gee, this post looks amazingly like post #62 in this thread.

Yes, it certainly does. Sometimes it takes a lot of duplication for a liberal to take notice. So your response? How much should the rich be paying in Federal Income Taxes? How about the 47% that don't pay any Federal Income taxes even though they earn income?

I'll throw in my 2 cents.

I listened to the speech.

It was all nice and dandy, sounded rosy, and for me was the first speech of his campaign and a sign of things to come, the direction the conversation is going to go in the coming 2 years.

Some of it I agree with, and some of it I don't.

Problem is there was very little that he gave on specifics of HIS PLAN.

I hope he releases a plan in the coming days or this was a gigantic waste of time.

I'm not going to go into what I agree or disagree with because nothing will come of that.

Those are my thoughts on the matter.

that was an odd post
you note that you both agree and disagree with components of his proposal
but then you refuse to identify what you agree and disagree with

Ever notice how people afraid of class warfare are the only ones who have something to lose in it?

What makes class warfare even an issue with you? You afraid to compete in the marketplace? Seems that those promoting class warfare are doing so for personal gain and to keep their jobs by keeping people dependent.

Please prove that I am jealous of anyone who makes more than me. Personally, I think I am more concerned about the nation's debt than you.

LOL, you concerned about the debt? Give me an example of a liberal ever cutting anything other than the military? Give a liberal more money and that is like giving kids in a candy store more money. How much of it is saved or used to pay down any debt?

...but its the truth.... Bush delivered a running deficit of $1.2T annually... Obama has just failed to fix his mess.

Really? Prove that Bush delivered a 1.2 trillion dollar deficit? That may appeal to the brainwashed but that is a total and complete lie.

I'm not afraid to compete in a fair marketplace where people are evaluated by their hard work and qualifications. Unfortunately, such a marketplace does not exist.

My wife's company recently let go of a guy because he basically didn't show up for work. They hired him right out of college to a high paying position, and paid for him to relocate. Can I get an interview? Nope.

So for all those years that Bush was President and had a Republican Congress, how many budgets did they balance? Sounds like the same results no matter who gets elected.

The military would be a great start, defense spending has doubled since 2000.

Yes it did. I didn't reflect my votes, I didn't vote for any Democrats to be in Congress.

Some companies aren't credible but don't classify all with the one you are talking about although my bet is there is more to the story than you are telling. If your attitude is as you are preventing here you are going to have a hard time selling yourself to any company. Class warfare has no place in the business world. I have no problem with what anyone else makes. There is only one ideology that does, liberalism.

Military spending IS the role of the Federal govt. not social engineering. The budget of the U.S. is 3.7 trillion dollars and the military budget is 700 billion of it. You call that excessive? What are your thoughts on the rest of the 3 trillion dollar budget?

None, but Bush did have 9/11, two wars, and Hurricane Katrina. 9/11 cost this country over a trillion dollars of the debt acccording to the GAO. Bush still spent too much with the help of Congress but that doesn't justify what Obama has done in 2 plus years. Bush had a GOP Congress from 2003-2006. Democrats have controlled Congress from 2007-2011

Here's what Biden thought of the speech...

If you are curenly in the 35% tax bracket your statement is believeable, if not just more smoke.

true-I tire of those who don't pay much in taxes telling me I need to pay more

which of us do not pay as much in taxes as you ... and tell us how you know this information

there is no proposal, nothing more substantial than the 2011 budget the party never proposed

it's all air

what, for example, do you think HARRY REID is gonna do with the puffs, inflate a balloon?

americans want SOLUTIONS, not SPEECHES

and until harry sets his pen to paper...

leadership, anyone?

we know you did not review his speech. he was quite explicit in his approach to achieve $4 Trillion in savings over 12 years
